We had a nice dinner here last night. Mike loved the chicken parm. Service was fast and efficient. The place is clean and welcoming.

This is a nice restaurant/bar that looked to have capacity for parties and events. Inside the tables were very cozily set, and it was a pleasant atmosphere of soft chatter and silverware clanking. As my father said, this restaurant is quick to fill up tables, but even on a busy night the service is still reliable. Quite a few people had reservations but we (a party of 4) were sat without a wait. I ordered the rigatoni bolognese. The food was tasty and was exactly what I was looking for. A few weeks back, I visited Cafe Luna for lunch with my parents and son when nearby Jefferson Fry Co was crazy busy on National French Fry Day. I had never been to CL, but I had been curious. CL is a general Italian American restaurant that serves pasta, veal, chicken, etc. It was nice inside. Service started a bit slow even though it wasn't crowded, but they made up for it in the end. We shared some calamari. It was the kind that had a light dusting of a coating. Fairly straight forward. I ordered a sandwich called the Turkey Butcher Block. It was like a club sandwich that wasn't stacked up. Turkey. Ham. Bacon. Swiss. Russian Dressing. Lettuce. Tomato. Well executed sandwich. Tasted good. The fries were slightly battered. Great food. Service was slow and we were the only customers at the time. Also, tiny gnats kept flying around our table. I determined it was from the many potted ivy plants hanging there because I had often see gnats around my plants at home. Once i starting using inexpensive decorative sticky papers in the shape of flowers and butterfies, the problem stopped. My advice to Cafe Luna: get some sticky gnat traps....your customers will appreciate being able to eat and drink without the concern of eating gnats. read more

Another excellent experience at a neighborhood favorite of mine! I decided to take my family out to lunch yesterday before the upcoming snow storm. We were greeted at the host stand by a friendly young man and were seated quickly. Our service was a team effort of three including the female owner (forgive me. I can't remember her name). The restaurant is cute and quaint, and was not too crowded, but did become busy after we arrived. We ordered a variety of dishes that included classic chicken Parmesan, jumbo shrimp cocktail, calamari, a buffalo chicken wrap, surf and turf and surf and turf with no turf, lol. We also ordered a round of cocktails, EVERYTHING fresh and delicious!! Folks, my pictures do not lie! This place is a gem and totally worth the visit! "C'è la luna mezz' u mare" (There's the moon in the middle of the sea) (Dean Martin) A charitable organization I belong to held a very successful group dinner here to kick off our 2024-25 year, and Café Luna really did a great job for us. We had the meeting in their Banquet Room which was decked out nicer than some weddings I've attended. We had a separate entrance, bar, and restroom. Our buffet meal included garlic bread, antipasto, calamari, chicken piccata, sausage and peppers, pasta with meatballs, and penne vodka. We had a gorgeous private room with a bar. The group dinner was priced at $24.95 ++, so it totaled out at $31.77 per person. If you've ever booked a group event dinner, I'm sure you agree the price is excellent. I made a buffet plate of the antipasto, two meatballs, some calamari, and some sausage and peppers, and I thought the food was quite good. It's not the best rating when the tastiest thing was the rolls-and they were good. We ordered the New York style calamari appetizer special. The calamari were rubbery and the sauce, the critical part of NY style was too runny and didn't stick to the squid. My entree was the chicken Marsala. The chicken was not breaded and the gravy tasted like a canned beef gravy with no Marsala anywhere. My wife ordered eggplant rolatini. It was overcooked but cold in places. Like right out of the microwave. It was expensive too especially for disappointing food. The staff was friendly and the restaurant looked nice. AMAZING!! From someone who eats out for every meal and has been to almost every well known, highly rated, or recommended restaurant-- this establishment is truly a GEM. Being from southington and 25+ minutes away, I only get here 1-2 nights a week, but if it were more local I'd be there every night. My personal favorites are; the Alla Vodka with grilled chicken, the shrimp parmesan in the Vodka sauce, the Owner Jasmina who if you want to chat will make you laugh throughout your meal, the broccoli and olive oil pasta with grilled chicken is exceptional, the bacon wrapped shrimp with gorgonzola, the wedge salad, the chicken and shrimp special. We walked in at lunchtime (11:50). They opened at 10:30, according to the sign on the door. We had never been there before. No one greeted us. We looked in the bar and there was no one working behind the bar. We looked in the dining area and there was a server who was lounging in a booth looking at her phone and she never noticed us, even though we were talking to each other at the front door. We left since we didn't get a very good feeling about the place. read more

We had dinner there yesterday around 7 PM to celebrate Mother's Day. The atmosphere was lovely, the food incredibly delicious, and the service truly exceptional. It was one of those experiences that remind you how much love and effort goes into running a great restaurant. Unfortunately, not everyone appreciates that. While we were there, a customer caused an unnecessary scene--he aggressively shouted at a lady who seemed to be either the manager or a waitress, simply because his steak was slightly overcooked for his taste. The level of disrespect and rudeness he displayed was honestly disturbing. No one deserves to be treated like that, especially not people who work so hard to create a welcoming environment for their guests. To the owners and staff: thank you for your kindness, professionalism, and dedication. You're doing an amazing job, and I truly hope you don't let moments like that overshadow all the positive things you bring to your customers. It's been a while since I've had really good Italian food. I really enjoyed everything about cafe Luna from the food to the service. We sat outside on the cute patio with heaters to keep us warm. The ambiance was very pleasant. We ordered calamari, penne alla vodka and fettuccine alfredo. All of it was amazing although the fettuccine could have been a bit creamier. For dessert we ordered creme brulee and homemade tiramisu and has zero regrets. Our meal came with fresh warm buns and garlic dipping sauce and salad. To top it off, our waitress was so nice and had great recommendations. I love this little spot and will have to come back next time I'm in CT. read more

Shrimp scampi was extremely disappointing. No flavor and very oily. Shrimp seemed very low quality.

Came in just before noon. Sat at the empty bar. The vodka soda was $13 and not even a full poor. I was asked quickly what I wanted for lunch but it was my first time in so I asked for time. After 20 minutes, a finished drink and zero other patrons, the lady (who'd been standing right behind me talking to another employee) came back to see if I wanted another drink. Her attitude was generally flat and unpleasant. The wedge salad was bad, bacon was grossly undercooked and not even chopped; just plopped like 8 pieces of chewy bacon on top. 2 total grape tomatoes cut in half. Not enough dressing. But she never came to check in while I was eating to ask how it was, them suggested I take home the leftover because it was "a good salad" I think the worst thing was the service. I sat at the bar alone, she made no attempt at small talk or anything. And I'm pretty sure she's the owner. Save yourself the grief and go somewhere else. read more

Lorenzo's Pizza Bar and Martini Bar is located inside [to the left of] Café Luna. It is newly furnished and decorated beautifully. Six of us ate there for lunch today and it was a mixed blessing. Some of the food was good but the service blunder sort of ruined our monthly family get-together. We started with an excellent order of Buffalo Chicken Tenders [medium] and I could have made that my entire lunch but everyone wanted some of it. Also ordered a medium Meat Lover's Pizza and a large Clam Casino Pizza along with a Tuna Wrap. The Meat Lover's Pizza was declared a good version, the Clam Pizza was a little soggy-bottom [as they say in Britain. The Tuna Wrap was "a little late, it's just about ready, we don't have any tuna". This could have been announced a lot earlier as we were just about through with the pizzas. Alternates were offered, apologies arrived but the meal was spoiled for all of us as the one maiden didn't get to eat. The order for tuna had been without a wrap as no bread allowed and the pizza didn't meet those requirements either. Everyone was from out of town [New York and Boston] but I live nearby and will give them a try in the future. read more

Was in for dinner recently and enjoyed my visit. It is decorated pretty inside and outside the restaurant. We overheard from one of the waitresses that a chef had not shown up. But the rest of the staff did a good job helping out and hustled to get food out. The oil that was served with bread was very tasty. My husband and my dinner were good. He ordered the cedar plank salmon, he had a hefty serving. I ordered the chicken scarpariello. It was ok, not great. The tortellini was a little over done and the chicken had veiny bits in it. I feel the dinner prices are a bit on the high side. I will go back and try more things but from the lunch menu. It looks good and less expensive. I would recommend eating here. read more

Came here to enjoy the beautiful warm evening on the porch. As per usual the service is great, drinks are great, food is good however the employees from pizza and martinis next door smoke INCESSANTLY - seriously unbelievable. Our sweet wonderful waitress asked them to not smoke on the patio after we asked to be moved after the smoking was incessant. Literally non stop. They relented for a brief maybe 15-20 minutes and were back at it. We won't be back Cafe Luna. No offense but it happens every time we sit outside here. We want to be outside to enjoy the warm air not cigarette smoke. Really too bad. read more

First time trying this restaurant and ahhhh so good! Two of us got the shrimp scampi that was good, and I got the cedar plank salmon which was SOOOO good!! It was perfectly cooked, the potatoes were creamy and dreamy and sautéed vegetables aren't usually my jam but these were amazing- slivers of garlic in it too they were so delicious. Pricey? I've had about a dozen fantastic meals from Cafe Luna, however tonight I am baffled. I ordered a wedge salad and added salmon for $9. The salmon I received was delicious however my mints were bigger than the size salmon I received, the wedge salad didn't have blue cheese, it had a lot of bacon, the wedge, two grape tomatoes cut in half.... That's it. Then the salad dressing may have been ranch but it was pure white and looked like sour cream, so I didn't want to chance it. What a nice surprise birthday party held at Cafe Lunas banquet room! With 2 seperate enterances, it was convenient not to disturb the dining area on the restaurant side but also just as convenient to be combined to utilize bathrooms and such. Both sides were beautifully decorated and the outside patio even had a seating area as well with heat lamps. The banquet room was a perfect size for an Italian family to enjoy comfortably. It was equipped with its own personal bar which we liked too! The table and chair coverings were very elegant and the Christmas decor gave the room an extra sparkle. The buffet line was huge and the food was amazing! The food options were endless! We were served salad, garlic bread with cheese, calamari (which was my favorite and I went back for more) chicken parm, chicken franchise, meatballs, spaghetti, and penne Ala vodka. Everything was delicious and the staff was super attentive. The party had complimentary wine but we wanted a special cocktail for the birthday boy. The food was amazing was great for my kid. Their food is a 10/10 definitely would recommend for families near Cromwell or if you're visiting. Especially for my mom which they provide great service for her, they helped her since she had a wheelchair, so if you are wanting to bring guests but they are in a wheelchair I would recommend. WARNING!! Awful service . Went for a family dinner . Unfortunately, My brother in law steak was overcooked . We kindly asked for them to please remake. The lady started yelling stating we were causing trouble & brought the steak back to the table arguing it was medium . After seeing her behavior it was decided to not have the steak remade due to her rudeness/aggressiveness an decided to ask for the bill for us to leave. It was embarressing . When my brother in law went to pay bill she again brought the steak to the register & continued arguing about the steak & literally started pushing him saying the party of 9 had to leave . He wanted to just pay the bill so we could high tail it out of there. She pushed him 3 times and her waitress daughter had to grab her. The video recording of her pushing & yelling was ludicrous . Great place for a Surprise Party this weekend we had a Surprise 30th birthday party for our cousin it was am amazing time. The banquet room was separate from the regular dining room I liked that alot. There was a separate door for the banquet room and it even had its own bar in it. The decor was beautiful it was almost ready for Christmas the table settings were very elegant. The food was served banquet style with a chefs salad with an amazing Italian dressing. There was also fried calamari Penne ala vodka, lemon chicken, chicken parm, and garlic bread with cheese so yummy none of us were disappointed. The service was very good and accommodating. We were also able to dance to the music list of our choice without interrupting the main dining room .There wasn't a big dance floor but big enough for us to have a good time in the front. Barely deserves a star. Never in my years of visiting restaurants local to try to support was I treated poorly . I was seated and given some rolls with dipping oil. I broke the roll which was crusty and had crumbs fall to the side on the floor. I literally got told not to do that I'm supposed to put the crumbs back in the basket of rolls . My mom ordered the calamari and it' was too crispy which is overdone in to my mothers liking. I had chicken quesadillas which had chopped onion and peppers inside. I don't really like those but should have been told because normally they are just tortillas cheese chicken.
