When dealing with what could possibly be a recluses first meal in public since the beginning it was better to go for outdoor dining to ease this person back into society. The bread was amazing at this place and the dipping oil for it unbelievable. We went on a Monday night and they had a pasta special. I had the lasagna which was very crispy around the edges. My wife had the eggplant parm my daughter the carbonara. Each came with a Salad. The other person had pasta and meatballs. Service was great and finding the slight savings on a Monday night a bonus. read more

Cafe Luna - Scallops - Italian Near Me - Cromwell, Connecticut

Delicious food , friendly staff , nice hidden gem Would definitely return when in the area ! read more

The ambiance was relaxed and comfortable. Slightly upscale dining. Food was served with careful presentation. Everything was beautifully displayed. It did not stop there as the flavors did follow the presentation. The fettuccine carbonara was very flavorful and creamy. The service was also top notch and friendly. Not sure if she was alone as it was lunch service but she did an amazing job attending to everyone. Definitely a place to revisit! read more

Cafe Luna - Fettuccine carbonara with chicken! - Italian Near Me - Cromwell, Connecticut

OMG what a surprise!! Cafe Luna was the best mistake we made. The food is phenomenal and authentic!! Chicken parm, chicken Marsala, the meatballs and garlic bread..wow! I highly recommend grabbing meals from Cafe Luna! On Wednesday's everything is 15% off! read more

Super expensive. So, the dollar amounts for the food are pricey (I paid $16 for a plain, modest sized plate of fettuccine Alfredo) but when you consider that the dishes do not come with a soup or salad, it adds to the price. What's confusing about the place is that it APPEARS to be a family dining type of place but it's clear that they insist upon only pricey options. There were no modestly priced items on the menu. I can understand why people would want to get just desserts here because once seated it's hard to get up and leave when you see what you are up against. Four of us ate and aimed for the most modestly priced items. We each had a soda. $95 was the total, not including a tip. Whoever is cooking, they made good food. But don't be fooled by the appearance and suggestion of the signage outside; it's NOT a family dining establishment. The waitress was polite but very little warmth. read more

So my experience here was one of a kind and NOT in a good way. We were greeted by a very nice hostess annnd that's where any amount of kindness ends. We were sat in the dining area, and none of the servers looked at all eager to come over and take our order. A little off-putting, but we decided we wanted drinks and desserts. When our server came over, we expressed this and she looked at us like we committed murder. seriously. She said her manager won't allow us to sit in the dining area to DINE on desserts, and that instead move us to the bar. Uhhhh no. Anyone whose ever worked in a restaurant in their life knows better. And just going to throw this out there, Cafe Luna isn't the Gordon Ramsay's Maze in NYC. Because I've eaten there and no one would ever some any kind of disrespect to a customer. I've worked in many restaurants and that's just not acceptable. It was so embarrassing. No, I will not be relocated and moved like some segregation Rosa Parks shit. Especially when us buying drinks and desserts would cost more than us buying just entrees. Learn some manners. Learn how to treat your customers. Learn to be humble. Learn to be better. (minus the hostess, she was very friendly and well mannered). read more

I had passed by this restaurant many times because I thought it was a special event venue but one night I decided to stop in for lunch with my mom and was pleasantly surprised. The dining room is beautiful, very elegant looking and the servers are dressed well and pleasant. The lunch menu is great and the French onion soup is to die for!! I got the veggie wrap and it was wonderful. We came back a week later for dinner and were not disappointed. The food was delicious!!!! I try to come in once a month or so for lunch or dinner to support this small restaurant, especially during the covid pandemic. This is one restaurant we need to stay open. Highly recommend!!! read more

I tried Cafe Luna for lunch and it was worth the stop. I ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken, it had a perfect portion of dressing and there was plenty of fresh grilled chicken. If in the area recommend stopping by Cafe Luna. read more

Excellent food and very friendly waitstaff. Cute cafe atmosphere. Plentiful portions..we had another meal from the leftovers.

Cute place. Mediocre to good food and service. Nice place for date night. Small inside- decorated OK

Just left Cafe Luna. Haven't been there in a while, went there every week for Happy Hour and used to be able to get a lunch type menu in the Bar area. Very limited Happy Hour menu. I ordered from the chalk board, however, there was no price. I was busy talking with friends, figured it couldn't be that much. I received shrimp & scallops with spaghetti. I got 3 shrimp and 3 scallops, cost $ 42.00. My fault for not asking. Lesson learned. I could go to a better restaurant with a better meal for that price. Never again!! read more

Full disclosure, this was a CONFUSING experience, and there may have been a language barrier of some sort? I'm not entire sure, but here goes. Husband and I went out on a Saturday night to try something new. Cafe Luna came up with good reviews, so we decided to go for it. It should have been a clue when the place was half empty at 6:45 on a Saturday night. The hostess sat us pretty promptly, though she really didn't say much beyond "how many?" and "okay." We sat for about 20 minutes while she brought over random items individually, like she had to put one silverware down, then a few minutes later another one, so on and so forth. Eventually a server came over and said, You know what you want? Again, just odd and awkward and cold. I ordered a cup of soup and chicken parm, husband got linguine with white clam sauce. So we waited. And waited. And waited. An hour after we arrived, the food came. No soup, just the entrees. Okay, fine, at that point we were starving so whatever, as long as they didn't charge me for it, it's fine. My chicken parm was okay. Average, nothing special, but certainly not $19 worth, especially not to come with soup/salad/etc. Husband's linguine was atrocious. Canned clams, oily, salty to the Nth degree, $23. He ate it because he was that hungry, but his mouth burned for 2 days on that taste and saltines. The 2 rolls in our basket (never refilled or offered) were on par with the frozen ones you can get at the grocery store. It took so long to get anything that I didn't even bother with a second ginger ale when our server finally returned. Only plus side was that his beers were only $4.50/each, which was oddly cheap given the prices on the rest of the menu. All told, $54 plus tip for a 2 hour meal that was really freaking strange. I won't go back - there's better Italian for a better price out there, and it was just really unwelcoming. Not what we expected for food or service. read more

My husband and I went to Café Luna in Cromwell for dinner to celebrate our anniversary after we found out that they had veal parm! It was so delicious, best I've had in a long time. The veal was so tender, I could cut it with a fork; my hubby had the shrimp scampi and said it was delicious! We have been following a friend, who is a server, since she worked at Friendly's. When she posted that she was working at Café Luna on our anniversary, we decided it was the perfect day to give it a try. We will definitely be going back! The service was excellent and the food is delicious! read more

The food and staff are very nice. Not so much of a hidden gem anymore, everyone knows about them now!! Specials are amazing and they have a nice room for gatherings. read more

Worth going to for sure. Very happy with everything I ordered at this place. The food really is good. Prices are reasonable. Drinks are decent but I think they need to sharpen up on their martini skills a little. I was disappointed when we went there for Happy Hour and was told after we were finished that Happy hour does not apply at outdoor seating. We had gone there and told the hostess that we were not sure if we wanted to be seated in the bar area or outside. The hostess knew the rules. It would have been nice if they mentioned that Happy hour was only inside. Should I have asked? Yes, Will I ask where ever else I go in the future? Yes read more

First and last time at Cafe Luna. Sat at the bar on Saturday afternoon, our meals were really good, friendly, efficient bartender. Thought it would be a place we would frequent often until we got the bill. $15.00 for a Tanqueray and tonic and $14.00 for a Tito and club - outrageous! We don't even get charged that at upscale restaurants. We will not be going back, plenty of other good places that don't charge those prices. read more

I rarely go out, but when you find a great establishment it is hard to stay away. All of my experiences at Cafe Luna have been 5 star. The best Penne ala vodka and grilled chicken ever. I love the food! The service is beyond wonderful. Melissa B. behind the bar is always on her game! Super knowledgeable, incredibly helpful and has lightning fast situational awareness. No empty cups or belly's! I recommend this place to all of my friends and family! read more

Last night (12/31/18) was Cafe Luna's grand opening! I had dinner with my mom and the food was delicious. We had an appetizer, Steakhouse Bruschetta, that was so good I wanted more. WARNING: You might be charged double what you ordered. I went to Cafe Luna last night after a wedding. We sat in the Banquet Room and got separate checks in groups of 3 or 4. A couple of us shared dishes and they charged a share plate fee (which is understandable). However, not only did they charge us for the Share Plate fee but charged us for extra entrees. It happened to my group as well as the Bride and Groom's group. They also threw in some extra drinks. Maybe they thought no one would notice. And to top it off, they are the most unpleasant staff imaginable. They looked pissed we were there on a Saturday night even though hardly anyone was there. BUYER BEWARE. Definitely not recommended especially with all the good restaurants in surrounding towns. read more

You would not expect how great this restaurant is from the outside! A real authentic Italian feel. Delicious food, friendly wait staff, and nice ambiance. Loved the bread and dipping sauce they gave at the beginning of the meal. Will definitely be making this a regular staple! read more

it is rare that you go to a restaurant and there are problems with both the service and the food. However, that seems to be the situation with Café Luna. The food is bland, and we had to wait 46 minutes for our food to be delivered after we ordered. I live barely two miles from this restaurant, but I have decided not to eat there again even after trying it three times. There are several better Italian restaurants in Cromwell, CT. read more

Small and intimate with amazing food hands down. It offers fine dinning at a great price and with lovely staff. They have amazing specials daily. So we made a choice to stop here today. It was the best decision. We walked in and met Bella(daughter) she had an amazing personality and great recommendations. Such a comfortable feeling and great conversation. Sitting at the bar was just enjoyable. Then walks in Jasmine, Bellas's mom. Wow now we see why we felt so comfortable. A family owned business and such great family vibe. The food was fantastic and the drinks just as great. Then we met Sue. Just as great as the owners, family!!! We highly recommend stopping in and enjoying such a great time and meal!!! read more

I booked a party for 20 over the phone having never been there. I can honestly say it was the best choice for me and the party. I am still getting calls from guests who were invited saying the food was so great. The atmosphere was cozy and we were not rushed. I was a little nervous doing this booking over the phone, but Jasmine assured me they would take care of everything. The food was delicious and there was so much leftover. everyone got to take some home. Thank you to Jasmine and her staff for such an enjoyable afternoon. Great food and great staff made for a perfect meal. Jasmine and staff helped us make a surprise party for my father's 90th Birthday party go better than we had planned. This was our first time here, Mother's Day. The note on the door said they were serving their dinner menu all day which I thought was a nice touch. The warm bread and oil/garlic dip was awesome! Very flavorful. All fresh ingredients. We had the special which was linguini with muscles, shrimp, clams, scallops and 1/2 lobster! Fantastic!!! We did not have dessert as we were so full so they brought the check along with a single red rose and my glass of wine was on the house A great place to eat anytime but this is a wonderful restaurant that goes the extra mile to make you feel special!! read more

What a great find. I drive by this place all the time but never stopped in. Needed a location for a baby shower and realized the place is larger than it looks. Booked with a deposit and chose the menu. 35 guests plenty of room for gifts, decorations and buffet meal. Everyone enjoyed the food and location had plenty of parking. Would recommend this restaurant to enjoy a meal or book a party. (Pretty room would be good for a wedding venue) read more

Eight of us dined at Cafe Luna tonight. Very slow service even though the restaurant was half empty! Menu read Mediterranean salad with romaine, cheeses, cukes, red onion, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, but we got a plain mixed green salad with romaine, slivers of red cabbage and one slice of carrot. Two baskets of rolls were placed on the table equalling one roll each. We kept having to ask the waitress for more. They substituted penne pasta instead of spaghetti without asking if it was acceptable. We spent over $200 and it wasn't worth it! read more

Super family-owned, family-oriented high-end Italian fare with a flare restaurant. Personalized service by the lovely owner Janine and staff. We've been there countless times since opening and enjoyed many specials as well as regular menu items, including appetizer Spiedini (never had fried mozzarella like this!) Mediterrean salad, Veal Lorenzo (named for Jasmine's husband and the chef), great wine and drinks. The list goes on and on! read more

This is a nice spot that I've been warming up too. The actual cooking is excellent. Some of the best cooked Italian dishes in the area with excellent sauces. The portions are normal, chances are you won't be taking anything home. I do wish they would improve on the appetizers. They fall flat in comparison with their entrees. My only other criticism is that they don't give a dinner salad with entree. I hope they read this and change that! read more

Food was good but the service was horrendous. The waitress, who happened to be the owners daughter, was inattentive and actually rude to us. She told us that it took her 20 minutes to bring us a dessert menu because she had other tables She had 2 other tables. The real reason was that her son was there and she was tending to him. We complained to the manager, her mother, and the waitress yelled at us again for not being understanding that they were short staffed due to covid. Needless to say, I will not go back there. read more
