Props to them for having a 45 minute queue at 8pm on a Friday. My sister and I just wanted dessert so we got a quick table outside. We ordered the chocolate soufflé. It was not what we expected and we made the mistake of not looking at pictures beforehand. The soufflé was not very fluffy and it was obviously made in an 8 inch round pan because we got a slice. It felt more like a flourless chocolate cake. The pistachio ice cream was also chalky and not very creamy. It tasted more of almonds and cherry than pistachio. We tried the complimentary focaccia. It was a disgrace to focaccia. It has the tightest crumb yet very spongey/soft. The only flavor came from the olive oil you dipped it in. We would absolutely not come back for a meal. read more

I gave myself almost a month to write this to ensure I wasn't writing from an angry, disappointed place. Bricco and I are breaking up. We may get back together in the future because one transgression can possibly be forgiven. I ordered "take-out" on November 30, 2025. I was hungry and excited to see my favorite pasta, Cacio E Pepe, on the menu. When I received the dish in the picture, I thought it was undoubtedly an error because the dish is traditionally served with a white "sauce". I called and was directed to the manager. She explained that sometimes they change it up and make it red. On what planet?!?! Was I being manipulated into accepting this? I told her it was misleading, and she said the description below the dish's name is on the menu. As illustrated in one of the photos, there is no description on the menu available online. We were meeting people who we hadn't seen in a while so it was super nice to catch up. Restaurant Bricco has been a personal and family favorite for a long time. I have made countless visits over the years, including another remarkable one last night. There is a reason it has survived and thrived for 30 years in the extremely competitive West Hartford dining scene. I find it to be one of the most comfortable spaces to be in. It's warm and not overly crowded, tables are well spaced. Toned down lighting without being dark. Just perfect. Always professional, friendly, helpful service. You're never rushed, courses come out gradually to ensure time to finish the previous without the experience dragging on, though. The penne alla vodka is like a "last supper" or "best thing I ever ate" candidate for me. I love it. Yesterday I tried some dishes, however, that rotate off the menu and I wanted to be sure to try while they were there. I had the octopus carpaccio and eggplant parm. I love octopus and this was executed beautifully. Tender, simply dressed with olive oil and paprika, and paired perfectly with a crisp salad. The eggplant parm was to die for. A large layered brick with generous cheese, while avoiding being overly heavy or the slightest bit greasy. It was a traditional egg batter versus a heavy/oily breading or crumb. I was with my sister and she ordered the arancini bolognese and the chicken parm. Again, generous portions (a guarantee here) . The chicken parm was served with homemade cavatelli, which I did taste and it was masterful. I cannot rave about Bricco enough. You know an establishment is going to be amazing when its doors have been open for over 30 years! We were given a long list of cocktails and beverages and all the drinks we ordered were spectacular. The apple cider sangria was perfectly made! All the dishes we ordered were amazing but the standout ones were the free range chicken, the scallops and the arancinis. It had been a while since I had been to Restaurant Bricco but after they won the 2024 Hartford County Crazies award AND I was in charge of choosing a restaurant for lunch I decided this would be a good time to dip my toe back. On a Monday before Christmas they were packed! And even with a reservation we still had to wait 15 minutes for a table to clear. They were also doing a brisk take out business (note to self). Once seated we were well taken care of - from the fresh bread that was brought out to the attentiveness of the waitstaff we had a wonderful time. I had forgotten the somewhat open kitchen concept and loved watching the staff slinging pies. We ened up not getting a pie (note to self for the next time I visit) BUT we did get the amazing salads pictued and a burrata appetizer to share. All of this was the perfect amount of food for us and we even had a bit of leftover burrata (that of coure i brought home). Will definatey have to head back for dinner and a pie further investigation. read more

Tuesday evening. Back in my hometown of West Hartford for an appointment . Walked around the block in West Hartford center. So many amazing looking restaurants! I've been to several, but never Bricco. It was early - 5:30ish. We didn't have reservations (why would we have reservations early on a Tuesday night?). They sat us at a nice table, but I asked if we could be moved to a booth where it would be more comfortable. Those were all spoken for by folks who had made reservations. Hmmm. About 2 minutes later, the hostess came over & asked if we'd like to move to a booth as the person with a reservation was running late. So nice!! I need to talk about the interior- beautiful! Classy. I think they said it was redone in February. A couple of pieces of ciabatta were brought over. I had a glass of the house Merlot - nice & smooth. We split a caesar salad - they split it for us. Delicious. I could even taste some lemon in it. We also split a pizza. Enough for 2, especially with a salad first. Pretty good. Not heavy on the cheese, crispy crust. I looked at the dessert menu, however I was too full. I have a weakness for crème brûlée, so I definitely have to come back. read more

We came here for an anniversary meal and it was phenomenal. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the scallops. They were perfectly seared and paired with a velvety butternut purée that tasted like autumn on a plate. The dish was finished off with a savory bacon onion jus that added depth and richness to every bite--easily the best entrée I've had in a long time. We also ordered the meatballs. The flavor was traditional but elevated, with a perfect balance of cheese and homemade sauce. The texture was spot-on--moist and tender without being too heavy. The food is sooo sooo good, I was really impressed especially the calamari was fried perfect and the best part is how soft it was, it wasn't chewy like most places you go to. The service was immaculate, our server was so nice always checking on us making sure we had everything we needed and the kindest person. Went to bricco for lunch with some friends on Sunday . This is my third time at bricco and I LOVE it . The food is always amazing , I know no matter what I get it will be delicious!!! The restaurant is in the center of west hartford , perfect location close to a lot of restaurants and lovely area to walk around after a good meal . I ordered this pistachio goat cheese salad with thin sticks of granny smith apples and a touch of balsamic glaze - every bite was a delightful explosion of flavor. For dinner I had the baked rigatoni with sausage, peas and mozzarella. Im drooling just thinking of the sizzling hot cast iron pan it was delivered in. The atmosphere indoors and out is beautiful, comfortable and classy, and its patrons better dressed than at most Italian restaurants. The staff are so well trained, then tend to tour every need, so not rush or pester you. We started with an assortment of appetizers and then a second platter of their grilled artichokes (sooo good!). One of my favorite restaurants and always soooo goooood! They adjust their menu for the season but always seem to have my favorite appetizer - OCTOPUS "CARPACCIO" - it is an absolute must have every time I go. Overall very clean restaurant, food is always fresh, and staff is friendly. It's a nicer place with linens on the table, and although I have seen people go in more casual attire (jeans) it is definitely a place that is more suited to at least business casual. Just walking into the restaurant it smells amazing. The calamari was delicious. The dates wrapped in prosciutto were fantastic. The meatballs were wonderful and each of the pasta dishes were very good. our friends had gnocchi and finished it and we had a rigatoni dish that was very rich and very delicious to tell the truth. Her name is Franny, not only was she an amazing server, but when she found out, that I had a less than a good experience at their other restaurant, she wanted to know what the problem was and said it would not ever happen again.
