    Fried Scallops with fries
    Kevin D.

Basic fish fry dining out of a bus. Not great, but a fun story Traveling to hartford, we encountered something that was a bit of an oddity. A food truck, but it was a full school bus. Intrigued, we turned off the road to meet this food bus and see what they were about. Turns out it's a fish place, and the girlfriend was really looking for some seafood. So we spun the wheel and gave this a try. We looks through the menu and see they got scallops, so we get the final order of scallops they had and wait in the car. Food comes out promptly, taking only about 10 minutes for things to get cooked. We get a thin plastic t-shirt bag with our meal and I take pics. The scallops, they were overcooked but the flavor was okay. Not crispy but seasoned well. the fries were generic, not memorable. They gave us some generic hot sauce and tartar sauce packets that make a decent dip for everything. The price was relatively cheap for the portion. if they executed the dish properly, then it would be pretty good with a fun story. Right now though, it's more a try and carry on type of place.

Every member of the staff was super friendly, helpful, and especially patient with our 4 kids. From drawing pictures for our youngest to color, to keeping our other kiddos laughing, the staff were all fantastic. The best part though, the food was amazing, and servings were huge, so we all have lunch tomorrow! Salute, and the Salute staff, are truly top notch. If we're ever back in the area, we'll remember to make a reservation first!

That said, it was clearly busy, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation on peak nights--we got lucky. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our waiters were very friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Portions are generous. The cheesy bread appetizer is a must-order--warm and perfect for sharing I ordered the cod and salmon, and both were absolutely delicious, cooked well and full of flavor. The wine selection is also strong, with plenty of good options to pair with the meal. Overall, a great Italian spot with great food, service, and atmosphere. I would happily go back.

Classy without being stuffy. Comfortable without losing its polish. Our server, Jayleen, was fantastic. Attentive, friendly, and somehow always there at exactly the right moment. We were never rushed, never forgotten - truly service sorcery. Oh yeah - a shout-out to Nick, one of the managers, who stopped by our table a couple of times to check in and make sure everything was perfect. That kind of attention doesn't go unnoticed. Now to the food. Every single thing we had was a 10/10, no debate. And the bacon appetizer? That deserves its own review. It single-handedly pushed the experience into 20/10 territory and may have ruined lesser bacon for me forever. Great service, great food, great vibe. Honestly, you need to do yourself a favor go here and go hungry.

This went considerably better and our server, Kevin, was excellent and attentive without being annoying. He received a generous tip. The presentation of the food from the seared tuna to the filet mignon and lobster frittata were all excellent and well worth the trip. Our salads were uniformly, fresh and delicious! To finish the brunch, we shared a piece of The Capital Grille's world famous coconut cream pie, which was on point and fantastic.

The clam chowder was just as good, thick and loaded with flavor and ingredients in every bite. The grilled octopus with potatoes was a standout -- perfectly tender (not rubbery at all) and packed with flavor. Oysters were fresh, crisp, and just straight up delicious. For the main, the paella was -- rich, loaded with seafood (shrimp, scallops, calamari, mussels, clams), and cooked perfectly. Paired it with a light beer which helped cut through the richness and kept everything balanced. Service was on point and the ambiance made it a great overall experience. Definitely a spot I'd go back to.

They used to have "simply prepared" on the menu that was just the fish, with seasonings and complementary sides. That's gone from the menu. It was always perfectly prepared and complimentary to whatever fish you were having. Last night, that changed for me. I have noticed over my last few visits a change in the restaurant. At first, I thought it was just my tastes changing, but last night proved me wrong. I had the "North Atlantic Swordfish Saltimbooca". The description was "Proccuitto, mozzaella cheese, sage mascarpone, white polenta". Polenta is usually soft, with the fish on top. This was polenta soup, with the fish literally swimming in it. In addition, it was greasy. There was a lot of oil around the side. And on top of that, the mozzarella formed a rather nasty hard cheese coating on the fish that I removed to the side with my fork. It was one of the most unappetizing things I've had in a long time. The swordfish was completely lost; no flavor at all. After a few bites, I gave up on it. I also noticed that drinks have gotten smaller. I ordered a martini. It used to be quite generous (it is a $16 drink after all). The glass last night was much smaller, at the same price. The wine was good, but that was about it. VERY DISAPPOINTING. I should have gone with the Fish and Chips! Hard to mess that up.
