ZERO STARS! took a couple minutes to get sat. The server took forever to take our order. Then after the other staff brought our food out, our server didn't check on us for like 10 minutes. She didn't even give us refills. The steak was overcooked but silly me for thinking a descent steak would come out of this place. after some time that seemed like forever she asked if we were good. (obviously not) she got us some boxes and took literally another 5 minutes to get the damn boxes and our check. Worst Service ever. Will NEVER set foot in there again. Get it together!! Disclaimer: Today I am here for Applebee's complimentary Veterans Meal and I will be commenting on this limited menu and my meal. As seen in the attached photo, the Veterans menu offers a good variety but there are no substitutions. My "go to" meal has always been their flavorful 6 oz. Top Surloin, fries, and broccoli, but today, I went with the bacon burger and fries (sans cheese, veggies, etc., as I am a plain burger guy). Veterans Day this year is on a Tuesday, it's 1:30, and the place is full. I have overheard many Veterans, so I am not sure what their usual Tuesday lunch volume is like. The food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. Tracy A is a super friendly, personable server! Post notes: when given a discount, I always tip on the full meal cost. My girlfriend and I went after seeing a movie nearby, and the servers were kind and quick to attend to us and others. We ordered the spinach chip appetizer, and this was disappointing to say the least mainly as while the spinach dip was fine, the chips were very clearly stale. Our drinks were shark bowls, and while it tasted fine enough her drink was a bit strong. However, my grilled chicken and her cheeseburger tasted good, and for the price it was nice. Overall I'd say it was fine overall, with the staff being the highlight but the food being okay at best. read more

This is by far one of the best Applebees I have visited the staff wax excellent , we were greeted with a hardy welcome to Applebees at the entrance , seated right away and menus provided and Ed were asked if we wanted to order a beverage , the waitress was great friendly and professionally friendly, we placed oug order which came quickly, very good food , one of the managers named Patrick came by to check on our service, a big friendly gentleman asked how things were , introduced himself asked out names , we chatted for a bit he offered a special they were going for local charity which we were very happy to learn about and offered to contribute for the locals. Extremely disappointed with our visit today. I came in with my family, a party of 6, and simply asked if we could be seated at a larger table since our table was too small for our group. Instead of being helped professionally, employees Olivia threw the menus down, walked away without a word, gave us a rude look, and then went to the bar area where she began talking about us to other employees. This is not just bad service -- this is disrespectful and unprofessional behavior toward paying customers. We were not rude, we did not make an unreasonable request. We simply asked for a bigger table for our family. No customer should ever be treated this way. If I could give 0 stars, I would. We waited 10 minutes at the door for someone to come greet us and bring us to table. She was not pleasant in any way. 10 minutes after being seated, our waitress ran by our table and said be with you in a minute. 10 minutes later, she did it again. After waiting for almost 30 minutes, she finally came over. Took our drink orders and appetizer. The meal itself, awful. My steak was very over cooked and dry. Had to ask a 2nd time for my water. My husband and son got the "All you can eat" special. Our waitress never came back to ask if they wanted another plate. My husband had to wave her over. I was at this establishement with my son last night close to closing time. As we were bein taken to our seat. The floor was litered with trash and food in areas. No excuse to not have wait staff go around with a broom and bucket thing and clean up. Our table had a sticky film on it. Food was great but our waitress wasnt very attentive. Decided to have some Applebee's tonight with the fam. Kids loved the atmosphere, our waitress was very friendly. The food was good not the best, I had the Fiesta Chicken from the 2 for $22. The rice was kinda dry, the food tasted kinda microwaved I'm guessing to melt the cheese on top of the chicken. Honestly though the food was still good, it was just an observation..and yes I would order it again. Everything else looked good from my seat the kids meal were good deals lota of choices of course. This was my first time at Applebees. The price is definitely right if you're on a budget and want a quick lunch. They were definitely ready for the Valentine'a day rush. The food came out pretty quickly. My steak meal with potatoes and broccoli was cooked really well. My honey ordered the Cheeseburger with a double patty. The drinks are pretty cheap. It's Applebee's. Nobody should be going there expecting 5 star gourmet food. It's basically if you're desperate and already shopping in that area. I will admit that I do enjoy the chicken tenders and the wonton tacos every now and then. But my main problem is the service. They tell you to go wait in their little to go nook in the dark corner of the restaurant where employees will keep walking by and not even acknowledge you no matter how busy or slow it is. I haven't gone to Applebees in years. There was one in Manchester. Then there used to be one in West Hartford. Now that is also gone, this one is the closest to me. Frankly the food was 3 stars, and I added 1 extra star for the incredible value. Seems every month they have one drink they will be selling for $1. This month it was dollar zombie. It was a rum cocktail with pineapple, passion fruit juice etc. Blue in color, it has a gummy brain floating on it. You can eat the gummy brain. The drink is very weak. But for $1, I cannot complain about it. Chicken wanton tacos is the best thing I had there. It had a crunchy shell and nice flavors. Chicken quesadilla was good as well. French onion soup did not elevate the level of gourmet, but good. I liked the taco topped queso dip. Spinach and artichoke dip was fine. Ceaser salad was decent. Shrimp wonton stir fry is a new entree, advertised as spicy. I did not like this one. It was neither spicy nor had enough flavors. Overall the food was a satisfactory. How is this Applebees still in business.. my husband and I get a gift card every ear for Christmas so we go and they are always horrible.. one year we actually got up and left because nobody came to take care of us for 15 minutes after we were seated.. tonight we went and our waitress was horrible.. the food is ok but the service is terrible.. we were seated and ordered and our appetizer never came out.. all the waiter and waitresses were standing around talking.. all the tvs had no signal and they were vacuuming and flipping tables at 6pm while we were eating.. our waitress left for the night so transferred us over to someone else.. wehad all our coats on waiting for someone to clear up the table and no one did so I had to waive down the manager.. always a disappointment. Today for the first time I saw a new person working who seemed to be a new manger . she had a red shirt and white hair so I know she was a bit older but the way she talked to or about some of the people on her team to me was very unprofessional . I'm sure she didnt think any of us at my table were listening but we were . i think if I came back and she were here I would leave so that I didn't feel uncomfortable or uneasy about the way she spoke about the people she works with . This Applebee's is A-OK and a nice reasonably priced option for lunch or dinner in the Plainville / New Britain area. I have enjoyed a couple of salads, sandwiches, and appetizers. While none were amazing they were all good. This is a solid option with a great staff in an accessible location. The volume inside is reasonable, and it means something to me that I can hear myself talk and even have a nice conversation. The seating is open and comfortable. So far I have not had any problem getting seating. It has been a nice place to decompress and get some good eats. I am not sure how often I would visit if I lived up here but as a visitor it is a good option. Location and staff push what is an A-OK food option up to making me a fan. read more

Hubby chose Applebee's for Father's Day. Sigh. I knew what we were in for but went along with it. Arrived at an "off" time but still had to wait 25 minutes. They did text us when the table was ready, which was a plus. We then waited 10 minutes for a server, who took our orders and disappeared. We saw no one for a while until a different server asked if we wanted to order dessert. BIG headscratcher there. Finally the meals arrived. What can I say? Still substandard after all these years. Nothing has really changed except the portions, which are noticeably smaller. My rubbery chicken was obviously microwaved and the rice most likely came from a package. I'm all for supporting the restaurant biz but with results like this, I think it will be another 5+ years before I venture back. read more
