I tried long John slivers for the first time and it was amazing service was too food was very enjoyable and I was back the next day

1/23/26 My first visit at 10:00 am. Parking 5/5 Worried because I drive by this place often and never see any vehicles or businesses activity. Grabbed a spot by the front door with a Hangry going on! Service 2/5 Then it happened, the door was locked. Peaked through the door and noticed movement. A curious employee peaked back and slowly made his way and opened the door. He said "yes" that's it. I mentioned was 10 minutes after opening and he said we don't open until 10. Head scratch that a minute. I asked him what his watch said. Guess he was set to pacific time. Ok I'm in now all by myself lonely, every table and booth was mine for the taking. The kitchen guys (2) were quiet but working. The gentleman who let me in 50 minutes early (wink) was busy with something but he did help me with my dine in order. Made my drink and waited for ~5 minutes and "wala" chicken and hush puppies woohoo. Glad I had reservations ;- ) Food 5/5 Fast food rating. I haven't been to LJ in years but found everything as expected. Tasty, freshly cooked and out quickly for a cook from order operation. Atmosphere 5/5 Fast food dining room comparison. Haven't had LJS in forever, so as i was driving by and saw this one we had to stop in. Great friendly, attentive, knowledgeable staff. Orders were fresh and came quickly. Disappointing a little the chicken strips were rubbery and the fish was ok flaky but not much fish under that batter. The green beans were blah no seasoning. It was not worth the cost I rather go to Pirates or other Fish and Chips place. We went at 430pm on a Thursday and it did fill up by the time we were leaving at 530. read more

So they must have had a makeover cause walking In right off the bat the restaurant was clean and cool. The guy Larry up front friendly and informative. Told me my food was being made fresh which just made it seem better. Then brought my food out to me. The vibes where so much better then before and the last time I went it was nearly as clean as it was this time. Food was good and Larry recommended the green beans and he's right they were good. Service was great. Problem is the food. Had a two piece fish. Fries used to be included. Not now. You have to order them. The fish was very disappointing. Portion size was small and the fish was chewy and not tender at all. I have been a customer of Long John for many years. They should be ashamed to lower their standard of quality to this point. Grew up eating at this restaurant since I was a child. I know folks complain about the grease or whatever, but nostalgia always win. I order the 2 fish combo with waffle fries and hush puppies and the wife order chicken/fish Combo. We also got a couple of the cheesecake they had available. We enjoyed our food and came away happy as we've been eating LJS for 25 years. Remember folks, it's a "fast food" joint so if you want something fancy or else and spend 50 bucks there. As a fella who grew up fishin' with my GrandMaw and eatin' fish (at least) twice a week and once on Sunday, I'm a Seafood Connoisseur... Especially when we talkin' Fried Fish and Shrimp! I ALWAYS grab that 2 pc Fish and 6 Shrimp Dinner and I'm ALWAYS overjoyed that I did! Normally we stop through the Drive-thru, but this past Friday, I dined in and the place was quite the joint! I miss the LJS spots that were connected to Taco Bells, but oh well, I find it well worth the drive since this is one of the very few LJS spots left in the 'Zona! We ate here for lunch on 10/14/2025. My wife and I got here just after opening after 10am. The food was already being freshly prepared and thr atmosphere definitely smelled like LJS that true fans love WE ordered both fish , chicken, waffle fries, corn and green beans. First time back at LJS since I was about 10 years old. I really don't remember why I stopped going here . First off, service was great. The woman at the drive through was very nice and attentive. I ordered online to pick up at the drive thru, so I can't speak on the dining room. Now for the food, I got the meal with 2 pieces of fish, waffle fries, Cole slaw, and it came with 2 hush puppies. Everything was on point! Perfectly fried and crispy . My husband wanted to try the cheese curds, so we got a side order. Also very good! I don't understand all the bad reviews here, because my experience was truly great. In the negative reviews, I did see it was mainly based on the grilled vs the fried items, so I guess I will stick to fried. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

It was a nightmare. I spent over 30 minutes in the drive-through and they didn't have anything ready. They were taking. Uber eats through the drive-through people ordering 30 pieces of fish. It should not be in a drive-through if it's Uber eats. Not planning to go back anytime soon till they can correct that problem. read more

Staff was smoking near the entrance on their break and it was more difficult for me to breathe. Men's restroom was dirty unfortunately and it requires a code (696969). The blonde female staff I spoke with was friendly, and I appreciate that. My food was good but in my opinion, the portions have gotten smaller over time. I gave the app a try and it's a joke. You can only earn points and redeem them if you place a mobile order; not in person. And there's no way to upload a receipt manually. I learned you are required to email corporate what you ordered and they will apply your points. Same process if you want to close your account! read more

Food was fresh, hot and delicious but the best part was the customer service! We visited today for dinner and my boyfriend had some questions about their specials and using the app. The young lady who was helping us, Ms. Gabby was very patient and was able to explain to us what we needed to do. She didn't know how to apply a free meal, but Chandler stepped in right away and helped her calmly and professionally. Great teamwork and we will definitely visit again. The place has Duck tape on the torn seats. Along with some duct tape on the walls to cover gaps or worn out wood. Wallpaper can seen peeling in several places in the dining room. Employee was mopping with very dirty and cold water. The wait was over 20 mins to receive our single meal. They are very friendly. The prices have gone up probably around 30 to 40 percent. I have ordered from this location several times before. In the drive through and through Door Dash. This is not the first time there has been a problem with an order from this location. On this occasion my wife picked up the order for me. One 6 piece Fish Sea Share and one Family sized Coleslaw. I included a picture of the receipt. I ordered over $50 in food. I requested extra sauces. Got home to NO sauce. I called the manager Blake and his only suggestion was to drive back over to the restaurant to get sauce. Got the yearly craving for long johns.. got the 2 fish shrimp platter.. almost $16 with no drink.. water cup.. they only have waffle fries now.. not the good regular fries.. not Happy with new waffle fries.. tasteless.. cold.. chewy .. Made a trip to Long Johns from Chandler and so glad I did! The fish, the shrimp, the hush puppies, the cheese curds...everything was cooked fresh and hot, and was the highest quality I can remember. I visited on Sunday and the drive thru worker with glasses repeated my order multiple time to make sure it was correct yet was still efficient and didn't have to wait long for the food. When you want some comfort food fish and chips LJS is the place I hit. I have been eating at LJS since I was a boy, so close to 35 years. Today I was in the mood to buy some hush puppies. I usually buy enough to have for the current meal and freeze the rest for later. The problem I encounter is I usually buy 12 dozen and have to sit and wait 35-45 minutes depending on how busy they are. Since this is a real deal LJS and not the combo franchises they let me call the order in for the hush puppies. This saves me time, and them time and allows them to prepare them at a normal pace instead of fast and furious. When I arrived the hush puppies had just finished being made. Back in the 90's I worked at the LJS on Main and Stapley (no longer there) for 8 days. 8 days!!! I slipped and tripped on the frying oil once and was burned every day and multiple times per day while dropping the food into the frying oil. I detested being a cook there and luckily found a job at Target at the end of my eighth day at LJS. BUT....I never hated the food. While studying socializing at the U of A in Tucson, my friend and I found an all-you-can-eat LJS and stuffed our faces every other week there. Flash forward to the 2000s and LJS across the Valley died and just recently returned and my wife and I are very happy! This LJS in East Mesa is way out of our way, but I take my Dad to his doctor's appointment and the office is right down the street. I've now been twice to this location's drive thru and am impressed with the service and food. My favorite items are the fish, chicken planks, hush puppies cole slaw and flavorful green beans. Each time I've visited, the staff have been happy to take my order. Each time, they've thrown in quite a bit of "crispies", which are such a treat! I highly recommend this location, if you're in the mood for fried fish and comfort food deliciousness. *Tip 1* Eating healthy?
