I think everyone except the movers from Long Distance Movers knew that a global pandemic was taking place. The movers arrived at my apartment in Cambridge with no face masks. One had a mask around his neck, and the rest of the two movers didn't have them. When I informed them politely that Cambridge has a law that requires you to wear face masks in public places, such as the apartment building lobby they were standing in, all three pulled out masks from their pockets. I said great, please put them on. They did and walked to the elevator, then took them off. WTF? I say nothing, and when we got to our apartment on the ninth floor, I asked them again to put them on, this time a little annoyed since they don't seem to be taking this seriously at all. They said they can't put them on since moving is cardio-intensive and putting on a mask will hinder their work. Well, excuse me, there's a f**king pandemic going on and they are refusing to wear a mask inside my home? I had no other choice but to turn a blind eye since we were leaving from Boston to California that day and we had no other choice. The "quality assurance" guy reached out to me when we got to California and I informed him about my displeasure on the mask situation, and then I NEVER heard back from him, until I told him I was going to write this review. He called and said "they did not want to be defamed on the internet". lol. My pet food storage box, trash can, and some small items had dents when they got here, so I won't comment on the moving services. But please don't consider Long Distance Movers, please, for your OWN HEALTH'S SAKE. read more

I really hate changes because it is very stressful for me. Especially that big changes as moving from one state to another across the country. Thanks to these guys they helped me overcome my issues. From the very beginning I called them they assured me of stress free service and delivered what they promised. Communication and booking were very easy. The movers came on time, I was still finishing up packing of my stuff. The guys told me to 'seat back and relax, we'll do packing for you'. I requested a quote after a quick search online for long distance movers. I spoke to Grace, who was very kind. She guaranteed the quote for 24 hours and I spent some time calling other places but came back not only because this was the most reasonably priced company, but Grace just had a great attitude and made me feel comfortable. The movers showed up on time on July 30th in Boston, were well prepared and packed everything up perfectly within a reasonable time frame. They delivered my stuff on August 19, within the time frame quoted. There was some wear and tear on some of the boxes but that is expected when you move stuff from Boston MA to Santa Barbara CA. There was no actual damage to my stuff and the mover put my furniture together quickly. :) Highly recommend this company!! read more

I was a little skeptical going through a "3rd party" company for the moving but they reassured me every step of the way. What sets them apart is that they handle both the delivery and the pick up of your items. So they technically do all the moving for you so you don't have to contact different parties throughout the move. They were fast and really made sure everything was tightly wrapped and secure. When they got to my home where I moved to they brought everything up the stairs and carefully unwrapped it all. Really happy with the company. They txted me when my items were being moved. Long Distance Movers were AMAZING!! I did extensive research on multiple companies moving due to a previous move that has had me scarred for life. I moved from Boston to Virginia and it was a seamless move. They weren't the most cost effective, however, I went with them because Sarah Davis, my relocation specialist, was truly amazing! She was so trustful, caring, and really understood what I had previously gone through and put me at ease. She was available whenever I emailed and called, and was so attentive to my every need. When the movers came, they were professional and efficient. They wore their masks and worked quickly while accommodating last minute requests. Due to COVID, they had to extend the moving time from 10 to 14 days. My items came about 4 days before the end date, so I was extremely happy with that. The movers that delivered my items were great as well. We have two sets of stairs that are narrow, and they worked so hard moving everything in. I was very pleased with how Long Distance Movers went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and the move was seamless. I will definitely be using them again! read more

LDM helped me move from Boston to LA this year and overall the experience was very smooth. I paid around $2600 for my studio apartment move (3rd floor at both locations) which is roughly comparable (more on the cheaper side) to what other moving companies offer for that far of a distance. They were accommodating when I didn't have a specific address for my destination and let me update them once I secured an apartment in LA. They charged me the estimated amount a few days prior to the actual move and did not charge me more even though I had more boxes than estimated (est. 15; actual 33). Everything arrived in LA in good condition except for one really flimsy cheap Ikea bookcase. The movers in both Boston and LA were efficient and professional. One thing I will say is that there was some initial miscommunication about the delivery window. They picked up my things on Aug 23rd and told me my delivery window was from 9/1 - 9/20 at my convenience and I thought that meant that my stuff would actually be in LA on 9/1 and I'd be able to choose depending on mover schedule when in that 20 day period works best for me, but that's not really how it works. I called 9/1 to see if my stuff had arrived in LA and they told me, it'd arrive on the 7th. I waited, nothing. I called on 9/7 and apparently it was still not in CA and it'd get here on 9/10 and possibly be delivered to my apartment sometime that week. Luckily for me, the driver just delivered directly to my apartment (not putting it in storage first until other movers could do the work) on 9/10. It would be nice to have more up-to-date information on locations and arrival time for your belongings especially if you are the nervous type, but for the price and for how undamaged my belongings arrived, I can't really complain. read more

Fantastic company and amazing rates. Their service and communication throughout the process was five star. This is the first time I used a professional moving company to move from Philadelphia to Cambridge, Massachusetts. They packed my one apartment bedroom carefully and professionally (with three amazing movers who came down from NYC). No fuss, and very attentive to detail. They packed my things as if it were their own property. Grace helped with the price quotation which was about 20% less than what other companies quoted. They also allowed me to have two different drop locations in Cambridge, my office and my home and only charged $100 extra for that second drop (of a dozen or more book boxes). John helped with the after sales service and he also deserves five stars. Overall, I highly recommend the company for any move, and I will use them again in the future without hesitation. Also, nice work to the guys from Boston who did the delivery, very kind and professional. Had LDM transport a couple of rooms of furniture from MA to CA. After receiving estimates from a couple other companies, we found their estimate to be competitive. The crews on pickup and delivery were on time,professional and friendly. There was always great communication and we were always aware of our furniture's location while it was enroute. If zero were a rating that would be what they got. This is the worst moving company and I would urge you to avoid them at any cost. My experience was awful. They showed up 1 1/2 days late to pack, never kept in contact at any point, took nearly 3 weeks to move to Florida and then showed up 2 days after the end of the contracted delivery window. They broke several items including a new dresser and a dining room table. They are protected, as are all movers, by federal law that does not allow them to be sued and their service clearly demonstrates they know it. And, ironically I paid more with them than with any other quote. You don't always get what you pay for. DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU! read more

After my younger sister graduated from BU she decided to look for a job closer to home. Moving many miles is tricky when it comes to planning & pricing. After some price comparing & who sounded most polite over the phone we went with Long Distance Movers. They packed all of her belongings up for her and made sure not to leave anything behind.
