I love Grapevine and I try to support local businesses but it's hard when server doesn't understand what you are trying to order off the menu... why are the owners trying to be the servers ?... this was the last time I'll be going to lone star cafe, the woman owner swiped my credit card like 6 times, she said "no paper coming out, it's not working" I called my CC company and they said, "yes it's working, I see the transaction in our system" but woman owner kept swiping my card. Instead of her, trying to figure it out if her system was messed up, she just asked me just to give her another card, she didn't want to do any work. At the end, she left the man owner to deal with us and she went to the back. I could tell she was annoyed but I wasn't rude it all, I just showed her phone with my credit card app opened to show her that transaction was pending, that it was not my card, it was possible her system. But anyways, don't waste your time if you want to have a nice breakfast with your family with no issues. I'm not the only one that complains about this place, the others just don't take the time to write review. read more

We moved from NY/NJ area and had been missing diners that serve quality but simple diner food. After trying several places with disappointment, we finally found the one that we love. It might look a bit underwhelming from the look outside but once you enter in the restaurant, the decoration is nice and modest and gives you a good cozy feeling of being in a diner. We ordered some breakfast items and we all love the food. Coffee was also good compared to some of coffee we tasted at other diners. in this area. Ordered food here when we visited the vintage railroad. We got the migas and chorizo skillet and a side of pancakes. The skillet was 70% cottage potatoes, which made it very heavy and also unappetizing . The migas were okay, the hasbrowns were barely cooked on the outside. The tortillas had a weird after taste. Went here earlier this morning with my girlfriend and was more than delighted to try this down home Texas Cafe for brunch. It is located right off the highway on main street adjacent to the Saltgrass on the other side of the highway. At first glance- it looks below average with outdated bland white paint and one door in the front. Once inside, it's a party. Was greeted by a young waitress who promptly got us; menu's and drinks. Within a few minutes the actual waitress that was assigned to our table greeted us with a smile on her face. I ordered 3 pancakes, 2 scrambled eggs and an order of hash-browns that were fit for a king. Only 2 items that kind of turned me off were; lack of actual table space (sitting area too small) and the amount of food served for 2 eggs was about 3 bites. I love the food, it always looks great; the atmosphere is a fun diner vibe. And the service is very good!

The last time we were here might have been almost 2 years ago! The interior of the Cafe is updated but the food went downhill.

The manager is the hostess and also takes your order. The waitress brings the drinks and food only. The manager tells everyone that comes in 20 minutes but it was longer. They have many clean open booths and tables but don't seat people. I guess they don't have enough help. The pecan waffle was good. The skillet was like someone just tossed some things in. I thought the cheese would be melted more because that helps keep everything together. No one really checked on us to see how everything was. It's like her is your food and that's it. We didn't get a check or told how to pay. So we were ready to go after being there for over an hour for brunch. I would not recommend unless you have a lot of time and no kids. read more

Don't come here unless you're willing to take the 2 hour journey to eat. There are more places I'd choose from just down the street that have plenty of servers who are more experienced and professional. Large groups from the nearby hotels come here and this staff cannot handle it. Outside of that, the place is surprisingly clean and it's got cute simple decor. read more

I can tell you....when you are hiring people under 30 today you are happy just to have them show up. Add that to some affluent, entitled people.....with expectations of perfection...you are going to have some unhappy people. Visited this place for breakfast. It was very busy and I was lucky to have someone leaving as I pulled up. The parking lot is small and fills up fast apparently. Faith was my server and apologized for my short wait. I like that because I understand you are busy sometimes. From that point forward service was "lightning fast". After I ordered, I had my food in under 10 minutes. The food was hot and presented very nicely. The menu has many items making it tough to select but forcing you to return to try the other items! I narrowed it down to a couple selections but decided an Omelet sounded good. I ordered the spicy sausage and cheese with crispy hash browns. They were served to order. The omelet was massive, loaded with plenty of sausage to even fill up this appetite! I even left some hash browns! The Lonestar Café is one of the best places to have breakfast, brunch or lunch. I have not tried dinner because I haven't been there at that time. I would not pass it up if I'm in the Grapevine area. Waffles are so tender. Crepes are delicate with plenty of strawberries. My girlfriend raved about the French toast. Watch out for Sunday mornings. It's their rush hour. read more

I've only been here once just to try it and never again, food was okay and interior was nice but my main complaint is the servers/ front desk person. We went on a weekend about 2 and a half hours before they closed that day and the look we got from the people up front and our soon to be waitress was so off putting and heavy with judgement looking us up and down blatantly with no smiles either because we came in 2 and some hours before closing or (I would hope not) racially motivated so from the start I was like okay that was weird, but maybe they're just tired. Unfortunately our waitress was cold and unresponsive to us the whole time, she took my mother's order with a stone cold annoyed face and didn't even say "okay gotcha! Is there anything else?" Nope, just wrote it down and looked to me before my mother was finished so when my mother wasn't quite done adding specifics to her order she got visibly annoyed and didn't even turn to look at her as if it was too much of an effort to do so and didn't acknowledge that she got it. After this another waitress came over and said she'd be taking over instead, we thought that was okay maybe it's a rough day for our last waitress and the new waitress gave us our drinks. Unfortunately that was the last time we got drinks, the waitress never came back to refill after she gave us our food or when we were half way through our meal so no one came to check on us again. My mother had to go find someone to help us and that was just off putting since it was our first time here. Every time I pass this place when I'm in town I just get a sour feel from it now and completely pass, I wish it was a better experience but the looks we were given by a couple workers just really didn't sit well with me and I hope in the future it's more welcoming to everyone no matter the time or person. read more
