There are thousands of these diners in the metroplex all with basically the same menu and same type of food. This cafe with prime real estate on Main Street I assumed would turnover tables quickly and arm their staff with some kind of structure and process- this was not the case. We came on a Sunday and it was surprisingly tame- no wait, a few scattered tables here and there, I expected to be in and out in 45 minutes. Two hours later we left with our bellies at least full, but it was stressful and exhausting to watch it all unfold. When we were first seated, it took a very long time to get our drinks ordered and we had to watch others who were seated after us be taken care of before anyone had spoken to us for quite some time. After forgetting about us, I finally flagged someone down and asked for a coffee and they apologized and the drinks came pretty quickly. We then waited 25 minutes for our food to come out. They seemed extremely backed up in the kitchen and the lobby kept getting more and more crowded. My husbands order was slightly wrong, but no use sending it back at this point. It would only take more time and we just wanted to get out of there. Alone and forgotten at our table we finished our meal without water refills and asked for the check 10 minutes into our meal hoping by the time we were done eating we'd have the check and be out the door. If I told you we had to wait another 30 minutes after asking for the check would you believe me? Poorly mismanaged, underwhelming taste, 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. read more

This is my new breakfast spot. Great food, great service and the owner/team are very attentive. It's got a nice atmosphere. Well kept and plenty of tables. There's also a private room. read more

Food was very good. I ordered the chicken fried steak with gravy. It was very well done. Tasty seasoning in the breading and not greasy which I really appreciate. I asked for crispy hashbrowns and they were perfect. I ordered a biscuit with it which was yummy. The waitress brought me more gravy quickly when I requested some. My friend ordered the Boursin toast which she enjoyed, but would have liked a thinner piece of toast instead of TX toast thickness. She ordered 1 pancake and shared a bite. The pancake was very tasty. read more

Not a single complaint. Hostess was kind and so was our waitress. She was very attentive. Our food came out extremely fast. I was super happy with my Benedict having an actual poached egg as I've had eggs Benedict with overdone eggs before. Would love to go back and try some French toast! read more

All I have to say is that the place was beautiful and food was great definitely will be going back there soon.

Meet friends for breakfast here on occasion. Usually a big group but service and food are always good!

I love Grapevine and I try to support local businesses but it's hard when server doesn't understand what you are trying to order off the menu... why are the owners trying to be the servers ?... this was the last time I'll be going to lone star cafe, the woman owner swiped my credit card like 6 times, she said "no paper coming out, it's not working" I called my CC company and they said, "yes it's working, I see the transaction in our system" but woman owner kept swiping my card. Instead of her, trying to figure it out if her system was messed up, she just asked me just to give her another card, she didn't want to do any work. At the end, she left the man owner to deal with us and she went to the back. I could tell she was annoyed but I wasn't rude it all, I just showed her phone with my credit card app opened to show her that transaction was pending, that it was not my card, it was possible her system. But anyways, don't waste your time if you want to have a nice breakfast with your family with no issues. I'm not the only one that complains about this place, the others just don't take the time to write review. read more

Food, atmosphere and service were all excellent. The menu offered a wide selection at good prices and the items we ordered were delicious. The restaurant was immaculate and the music relaxing. Wait staff was well dressed, efficient and welcoming. We were visiting Grapevine for their Main Street festival and when we return again, we will be sure to dine again at Lone Star cafe. read more

We moved from NY/NJ area and had been missing diners that serve quality but simple diner food. After trying several places with disappointment, we finally found the one that we love. It might look a bit underwhelming from the look outside but once you enter in the restaurant, the decoration is nice and modest and gives you a good cozy feeling of being in a diner. We ordered some breakfast items and we all love the food. Coffee was also good compared to some of coffee we tasted at other diners. in this area. My kids who have strong opinions about diners, loved this place. Service was good and the owner there is very friendly. We sure to come back again. read more

My family loves Lone Star. We come at least once a week maybe twice. The new owners are wonderful!!! They strive daily to make sure your food and service are exceptional. Askwith so many businesses, it is hard to find employees who will represent your business well. Both husband and wife work as servers and are diligent in their commitment to their patrons. Yhe food is always fresh and good! Thank you!!! read more

Ordered food here when we visited the vintage railroad. We got the migas and chorizo skillet and a side of pancakes. The skillet was 70% cottage potatoes, which made it very heavy and also unappetizing . The migas were okay, the hasbrowns were barely cooked on the outside. The tortillas had a weird after taste. The pancakes were the most mediocre pancakes I had at a breakfast place. read more

The food and service were both excellent! We will definitely stop again while traveling through.

Went here earlier this morning with my girlfriend and was more than delighted to try this down home Texas Cafe for brunch. It is located right off the highway on main street adjacent to the Saltgrass on the other side of the highway. At first glance- it looks below average with outdated bland white paint and one door in the front. Once inside, it's a party. Was greeted by a young waitress who promptly got us; menu's and drinks. Within a few minutes the actual waitress that was assigned to our table greeted us with a smile on her face. I ordered 3 pancakes, 2 scrambled eggs and an order of hash-browns that were fit for a king. Only 2 items that kind of turned me off were; lack of actual table space (sitting area too small) and the amount of food served for 2 eggs was about 3 bites. Everything else, wonderful and will definitely be back in the future to this down home good restaurant. read more

Oh man this place really does it for me. Probably some of the best eggs benedict that I have ever had has been served to my table right here. Their pancakes are pretty outstanding as well. Love, love, love this place! for a quick breakfast/lunch First time coming here with my boyfriend. My boyfriend suggested going here since he's a service manager at grapevine ford across the way. His coworkers always bring and brag about breakfast and lunch from here. We decided to try it out and the food was delicious, fast service, clean and cost friendly. Most definitely coming back! Suggestions: try the Migas, its great! read more

Don't come here unless you're willing to take the 2 hour journey to eat. There are more places I'd choose from just down the street that have plenty of servers who are more experienced and professional. Large groups from the nearby hotels come here and this staff cannot handle it. Outside of that, the place is surprisingly clean and it's got cute simple decor. read more

The last time we were here might have been almost 2 years ago! The interior of the Cafe is updated but the food went downhill.

The manager is the hostess and also takes your order. The waitress brings the drinks and food only. The manager tells everyone that comes in 20 minutes but it was longer. They have many clean open booths and tables but don't seat people. I guess they don't have enough help. The pecan waffle was good. The skillet was like someone just tossed some things in. I thought the cheese would be melted more because that helps keep everything together. No one really checked on us to see how everything was. It's like her is your food and that's it. We didn't get a check or told how to pay. So we were ready to go after being there for over an hour for brunch. I would not recommend unless you have a lot of time and no kids. read more

Mediocre brunch spot. Nothing special or worth noting. Hollandaise on my eggs Benedict tasted almost sour. Either too much lemon juice or rancid. Either way I didn't finish it. We got in around noon. It was kind of busy and took a while to get our food. By the time we did, they were closing down the employees seemed to care more about getting out of there on time than providing service. read more

Went for breakfast, services was fine food was quite mediocre, however. My blueberry pancakes were very dry and the top pancake had no blueberries and only the bottom pancake seemed to have some. Pancakes also tasted burnt and a little bit chewy/rubbery. Would not go back. read more

I visit often. Never had a bad meal. I see some of the negative reviews. maybe it's because I own a small business. I can tell you....when you are hiring people under 30 today you are happy just to have them show up. Add that to some affluent, entitled people.....with expectations of perfection...you are going to have some unhappy people. Lone star is great. if you want 5 star service, get on the waiting list and join the Dallas Country Club. They address you by name and have a staff that will wait on you hand and foot. read more

This past week, I was looking for a spot in Grapevine to have a business meeting/lunch and this spot was perfect. The newly remodeled location was comfortable and the service was outstanding. There were three in my party and we all ordered something different. The overall consensus as the food was great and the price for all three was under $45.00. I highly recommend you give them a try and I am sure you will be back. My BLT was awesome and the ice tea is brewed fresh! Enjoy. read more

Had high hopes for this place. Friendly staff. Food is blah. Had chicken fried steak overcooked. Huevos Rancheros cold when came out. Coffee was bitter. This place screamed one thing- unkept. Change your oil or at least filter it. Fried food had that nasty aftertaste. Coffee machine needs to be cleaned too. Stomach was upset all day. read more

We came on a weekday around lunch time. It took quite a while to get our order taken and quite a while to get our food. We weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter but is worth pointing out as it was noticeable. I had pancakes, eggs and sausage and Bae had a burger and fries. I vacillated between giving a 3 or 4 and I'm a nice person so I went for the 4 but really it was a 3.25. I don't know if I was impressed enough to go back. We have so many options in the area that if we aren't wowed, we don't have to return. read more

Visited this place for breakfast. It was very busy and I was lucky to have someone leaving as I pulled up. The parking lot is small and fills up fast apparently. Faith was my server and apologized for my short wait. I like that because I understand you are busy sometimes. From that point forward service was "lightning fast". After I ordered, I had my food in under 10 minutes. The food was hot and presented very nicely. The menu has many items making it tough to select but forcing you to return to try the other items! I narrowed it down to a couple selections but decided an Omelet sounded good. I ordered the spicy sausage and cheese with crispy hash browns. They were served to order. The omelet was massive, loaded with plenty of sausage to even fill up this appetite! I even left some hash browns! Expecting to drink a lot of water to ice the spice, it was certainly not spicy in my book. Great taste though. A must visit in Grapevine, TX read more

I love the food, it always looks great; the atmosphere is a fun diner vibe. And the service is very good!

The wait was understandable because it's Sunday and busy but my food came out cold and my pancakes were burnt. My mother in law liked her omelette but that was about it... was very disappointed read more
