The children would rather talk they're heads of the tend tables

Big plate but not the food to proportion the plate. This is you average breakfast place and I mean average but pricy for what you get. Looks to run by a loud lady and her children seat you after waiting for some time when you walk in and there are empty tables and they say that their iPad is slow. I ask myself what does I have to do with being seated when you see several tables that are open and cleaned. Sat up at the front door for 20 to 25 minutes with the buzzer in my hand and then eventually was called to come in to sit at a table for two yes, the ambience of this place is decent and nice and clean. Looks like a lot of the core that you could pick up at your local hobby shop though just like you would make your home look nice. Don't imagine I'll be back when there's other cafés that are identical to the same food servings and semi service.

This place is so cozy! I really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere (kind of felt like a cozy cabin). The server and host were super kind! I got the very berry waffle and it was yummy and good priced!

After a few years, I decided to give this restaurant another chance. When I arrived sometime after 8:30am, a skeleton crew of one cashier/hostess, one waitress/manager and one server were on staff. After 9am, the rest of the waitstaff arrived. After the hostess served my coffee, my waitress came by to take my order. By the time the Boursin Toast arrived, I had finished my coffee. My waitress had not checked on me until my plate was half empty. As a result, my coffee mug had been empty for a long time. Unlike other nearby tables, I was not given water. On a side note, after the remaining staff arrived, the server went table to table with a coffee pot to fill the mugs. The Boursin Toast was okay. The sourdough toast was lightly toasted, so it was soft rather than firm. The scrambled eggs were brownish and overcooked. On the plus side, there was sufficient amount of the Boursin cheese on the toast. When it was time to pay the check, there was a significant wait. The newly arrived waitstaff had not started waiting on the tables. My waitress was taking other orders before she handed my credit card to the cashier/hostess. The cashier initially gave my card and credit slip to another table, one far from mine. Fortunately, the customer did not accept the credit card. Afterwards, the cashier returned to the Point of Sale system before returning the card correctly to me.

WOW!! The food was hot and delicious! Service was fast. Clean restaurant. Will be back. Yum!

The customer service was amazing! Everyone was so nice from hostess to waitress. The food was such a surprise! So exceptional! I'm from the south and those were the best grits I've ever had, no exaggeration. Also, I got an egg white veggie omelette that was truly exceptional, literally on par with $70 plate restaurants, there is no picture because it was gone SO fast! Great portions, fresh hot coffee with refills. Very affordable pricing. Will absolutely be back! So happy to have found this place!!

If you want a hearty breakfast, this is the spot! It has the feel of an old school country diner with the menu to match! The waiter was really nice, attentive, and didn't miss a beat. He continuously came by to make sure our coffee mugs were full and that we didn't need anything else. Disclaimer: Come hungry because the portions are insane!

We went here for breakfast as we were visiting grapevine. The breakfast was amazing. Classic eggs with sausage and hashbrowns with white gravy. 10/10! Very affordable and amazing service. The sweet waitress even cleaned up after my daughter who spilt her water. We will definitely be visiting here again. Loved the Christmas vibe as well!

So many things went wrong during our visit to Lone Star cafe. I'm between a zero and 1 star rating based on service, kitchen prep, comfort, enjoyment and food taste. First, I called Lone Star on a Saturday morning and asked how long of wait would a party of 6 be for breakfast, I was told "no wait, we can seat you right away" I replied "great, my party of 6 will be there in 5 minutes." About 6 minutes later we arrived with other groups already waiting and were told the wait time was 15 minutes. I asked one of the patrons waiting how long he'd been there ( wondering if three groups just happened to walk in the last 5 minutes and the guest told me 10 minutes meaning- I was not given accurate information on the phone. We waited the 15 minutes and were seated, and it was all downhill from there. It took a while for anyone to come to our table, by the time the server arrived for our drink order we were ready for our food order as well. The drinks did come out quickly but the coffee was cold- not even room temp- COLD so we to ask for hot coffee and creamer. The hot coffee did return with an apology but we still had to ask for creamer again and there was not a coffee refill offered. Food arrives and pancakes are delivered without butter or syrup so we had to wait again for those to be dropped off. The waffle we ordered (ordered plain with zero toppings to include no powdered sugar), was delivered with sugar and whipped cream so we had to send that back and wait for the plain waffle we ordered. Waffles are in the cute shape of Texas but around Austin was raw batter- gross. The skillets were cooked fine but lacked flavor and portion size is small. I had the patty melt with fries and as you can see in the picture the frozen to table fries are literally a handful, they might as well line them in a single row next time. Additionally, there were mushrooms in this burger where the menu did not list mushrooms. People have anaphylactic allergies so adding things like mushrooms are potentially very dangerous for folks, I don't understand how this restaurant not only doesn't complete an order as requested, given my waffle example, but then adds ingredients not listed in the menu. The last item I'll mention is the bathroom, there was always a line for ladies room to include the employees that need the same facility. Recommend making these two single seat bathrooms into gender neutral to alleviate the lines and help the employees from long waits so they can get back to their tables. Also recommend honesty for patrons that call in advance, misleading people isn't a good business practice. For the servers, consider using patron waiting times to drop butter/ syrup and look for steam or the feel of a warm cup before delivering hot beverages and leave some of packaged creamer on the table if you don't have the time or organization to accommodate customer needs. Also, the old toothpick trick works just fine on checking if waffles are cooked before serving to paying customers and the kitchen needs to play close attention to what the menu ingredients are, and what the customer order is. We paid about $90 before tip for a frustrating and unfulfilling meal, I would not recommend for food, service, atmosphere or anything in-between.

    Tuna Melt

We came here for the first time on 7/28/23 after many, many times of saying "we should try that place." There were a lot of menu options from the pics here that sounded really good. I had the tuna melt with a side salad, and my lady had the grilled ham and cheese sandwich with fries. My salad came out first and wasn't too bad. The balsamic vinaigrette was delicious. The grilled ham and cheese with fries came out next. The fries were good and hot. Despite being advertised as coming with "aged cheddar," however, the sandwich clearly came with American cheese. There is a time and a place for Kraft cheese, but not when cheddar is on the menu. Also, the grilled ham and cheese was a tad on the greasy side. My tuna melt, which had been forgotten until it was asked for again, also came with American cheese and not cheddar. The tuna salad flavor was excellent, though, and the sandwich was not as greasy. All in all, the food wasn't bad and the service was super attentive. We may come back again as they seemed to be having an off day between the staff communication and the food prep. It will be a minute, though.

    Texas waffles

If you're looking for a cute cafe with a cute Texas waffle that's not too sweet this is the place! I added powdered sugar and bananas on mine. Subtle sweetness from the banana was perfect with the fluffy waffles that was freshly made. Great service and the ambiance was cute!

We stopped in for brunch. It was in the area and we wanted to try something new and not chain. Service was awesome. The food was just that...... 3 adults, 2 beverages = $48 not including fee to use our debit card or the tip.

She led me back to the table with my friends and created some small talk on the way, so that was a nice change of pace, considering many people just point you on your way. We were seated near the back which seemed to be somewhat like an open kitchen feel, which I actually thought was pretty cool. Our waitress was very fast and helpful with picking out our foods based on our likes. Once the food came out, everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals, including myself. We started the table off with the biscuits and fried green tomatoes (demolished!). I kept it simple with the chicken and waffles (delicioius and crispy), which was a HUGE helping (yum!). Others at my table enjoyed the the shrimp and grits and WB chicken sandwich. No complaints heard from them! Overall, I really enjoyed the ambiance, the food, the service, and the experience I had for my first time there. Would come back again for dinner to see if there is a difference.

Most of the starers are mouthwatering, even the unexpected Ruben Eggrolls are a delight. Less daring items like the coconut shrimp are equally good. Without a doubt my go to entree is the Beef Wellington. I remember La Madeleine had an affordable one on their menu in the late nineties, this is reminiscent. I do usually swap out the mashed potatoes for the chopped wedge as side, just seems like the classical steakhouse side for the task. The only thing I would say that is lacking is the wine list, despite being very fairly priced. Their most bespoke bottle of red is the Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon (2021), which while amazing for the $99.99 they charged, it was fairly flat, lacking the traditional vanilla perfume you'd expect from a pricey California Cabernet Sauvignon. Also took a bottle of GH Mumm Grand Cordon, which also did not taste as anticipated. I think the most plausible explanation might be heat damage, as both wines are usually well regarded but came up short.
