I was flying solo for breakfast and Daytrip came up near me. I am very happy it did. First off, the place is smallish so you will likely wait for a table (don't worry, it's not long and it's worth the time). Even though I was a solo they will allowed me to have a table if it opened so I didn't have to wait (I would have but it was a nice touch). The hostess was fantastic and so friendly...as was EVERYBODY! That vibe makes the customers relaxed and friendly as well. I struck up several conversations with my fellow patrons and it made the experience even better. But of course, if the food isn't on point it's all for naught. It is NOT all for naught! I ordered the corn beef hash American Platter with over easy eggs, grits, and biscuits with jelly. I'm not a big corn beef hash guy but it was recommended and I see why! The caramelized onions added just the right amount of flavor and the corn beef was so tender and flavorful . The eggs were perfect. The grits were creamy and the biscuits were soft and warm. They were so flaky like a good southern biscuit. It was also so good that one of the new friends seated next to me couldn't believe how fast I ate. I was enjoying it that much. When I was ready to leave (so I didn't clog up a table for the waiting people) I was offered a cup of coffee to go, which I happily accepted. The prices were reasonable and the experience was 5 star. The service here and the way the place is run is just phenomenal. This was our second visit and the first time we've come on a weekend when it's very busy, but they have the wait/seating down to an art. We did wait in our car but could easily hear our name called and were seated sooner than quoted. Both times we have been here our service was impeccable. It's a very large menu with lots of options. I will say the ONLY reason we didn't give 5 stars (I'd give it 4.5 if I could) is the food was just a lil too salty today for each of us. Not horribly, but noticeable. My son also felt his skillet was good but maybe needed a little more avocado for the value/price. He said with his coffee and skillet he spent over $21 and he was slightly disappointed in his value vs portion size. He was also disappointed he had to pay extra for salsa with his skillet. This was his Personal opinion- that it should come with it as he believed that it did. I, however, got the chicken fried steak breakfast and was very pleased with both portion size and the meal in general. My husband also enjoyed his migas scramble. He only wished it came with some tortillas. All In, this is a very cute throw back to old style diner breakfast and the service cannot be beat. read more

Really nice service and servers here at The Daytrip Diner. The menu is your typical diner fare. You got eggs, pancakes, eggs Benedict, chicken fried steak, with club sandwiches, diner meals and more. With a very expansive coffee section. I had the club sandwich which was huge! My wife had chicken fried steak which was massive and delicious. My friend had a grilled chicken breast which also enjoyed. Overall a great local experience. This is not a "greasy spoon" this is a healthier and yummier version of your traditional diner. We didn't wait long for a table despite it being a Sunday, and we were very impressed by the coffee selection! No classic bad diner coffee here - they have a great variety of espresso based specialty coffee drinks, including seasonal options. The brown sugar shaken espresso was awesome! BEST REUBEN SANDWICH EVER!! Did I die and go to heaven?? Seriously everything I eat here is divine! Their scrambles are amazing. The Reuben and ham and cheddar sandwiches really stand out. They make their own corned beef here! I also loved the cherry danish French toast and their cherry sauce is the real deal. All the ingredients are excellent really. We arrived on a Saturday morning and noticed people standing outside in the parking lot, so we expected a long wait. Surprisingly, it was only about 20 minutes, which felt very reasonable for a busy Saturday. The service was excellent. Our waitress was extremely attentive and made some great recommendations. The food came out quickly and was good enough. The one thing that really surprised me was that there was no fresh orange juice. For a breakfast spot, I found that especially disappointing. A Zumex 04817 Cold Press Automatic Feed Citrus Juicer is certainly an investment, but at around $5,000, I think it could be a worthwhile addition and would really elevate the breakfast experience. We ended up just having coffee and water with our meal. Overall, a pleasant experience with very good service, but fresh orange juice would definitely make me more excited to return. read more

Lovely breakfast/lunch spot in grapevine! The food was so good. We got the chicken biscuit, Reuben, and chicken fried steak skillet, all were delicious! We also got a few different lattes; they were good but a little bit too sweet (day tripper latte wasn't all the way mixed either). Our server was amazing and made great suggestions. I also want to shout out the hostess for getting us and everyone else who was waiting outside for a table in quickly. She made sure to update us frequently and she was very friendly. We were getting work done on my motorcycle nearby and decided to go get some breakfast while we waited so I got on yelp and picked this place because of the great reviews. I am soooooo glad we went here. The place is adorable. It's small but we got in and out quickly. The people working were absolutely amazing! Super attentive and nice. The menu is huge, making this a great spot for families because there really is something for everyone. We were very impressed. Everyone greets you when you walk in. The staff is so nice and friendly even other waitstaff will stop by your table and ask if you need more coffee or drinks. My husband never ran out of tea which is a job it self! Larry was our waiter and he is the best! I had the chicken fried steak with fried potatoes, eggs, and fruit. Is was hand breaded, so tender, tasty and huge! I cut half of it off and gave it to my husband. He loved it too. He said his biscuits were light and fluffy. It's still a fairly new place, but we just tried it for the first time! It's a breakfast/ lunch only restaurant. The menu has a lot of good selections, however, I was surprised to see they don't offer omelettes. A very friendly place where we were greeted to seated immediately. Larry took care of us, did a great job. Pricing was in line with this type of place, but a little high for what I feel breakfast should cost. I got the All-Star skillet, at the cost of $17. It was two eggs, chopped bacon, sausage with onions and green peppers. However, it was about 50% small cube pieces of potato. I felt like there was way too much potatoes, and not enough of everything else, especially for $17! However, the presentation and flavor was good. My wife got the biscuits with gravy, which she said was excellent. Mine came with two large pancakes, which were also very good... served with hot syrup! There are windows on two sides, making it well lit. Everything looked brand new and clean! Definitely a small diner atmosphere. We liked it, however, we did not feel that it was anything which set it apart from many other places like this in Grapevine. As I was disappointment with my skillet dinner, that will likely not encourage me to come back. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't try them! read more

This place is like your personal chef cooked breakfast for you! The food is fantastic and the service is top notch! My first trip here but friends and family have raved about it. Of course I wanted to try it all but that wasn't possible. Deliciousness- veggie scramble, eggs Benedict, perfect potatoes, best ever biscuits, and a light, fluffy waffle were soooooo good. We had driven by this place a couple of times, but didn't hear much about it until a friend recently recommended it. We went in for breakfast today. Our server Jillian was excellent. Imagine an old building, maybe an old Waffle House, that's been a few different restaurants over the years -- that's what it looks like when you pull up to Daytrip Diner. Not the most exciting first impression. But don't stop reading yet, because what's inside is actually really charming. I wasn't impressed with the outside, but the inside was everything I hope a diner would be: hardwood floors (except for the outline of the restaurant where there are charming tiles), modern booths that look like old-school booths, and tables and chairs that look like teak wood, another nod to mid-century furniture. The waitress was considerate, and engaging the whole time we were there. I never accept straws, and she got it, "Help save the turtles," she said. And I acknowledge her by relying, "This is exactly why I don't accept straws." We both understood each other. I am not much of a breakfast person, and the first time I come to a new restaurant I order scrambled eggs. This is my test. Daytrip Diner passed the test! The eggs were cooked perfect, and tasty. So many time scrambled eggs are over cooked and dry, but not here. This was a great experience and I look forward to coming back soon. read more

Staff were VERY friendly. Restaurant looked new, clean, modern. Way better than the Waffle Way it replaced. Unfortunately the food didn't live up to the hype, and didn't do credit to their wonderfully friendly staff. I ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and breakfast potatoes. The eggs were fine, bacon was not in any way crispy. It tasted fine, but bacon should be crispy. Potatoes were greasy and also not crispy. My wife ordered avocado toast. The weirdest part was that the "toast" wasn't "toasted" it was just bread. The crema was good, but the toast was also covered with a bunch of sprouts which she felt was unnecessary. She would also have liked the avocado to be seasoned. Total for the two dishes and two drinks was $37 before tip. We really wanted to like this place because it's walking distance from our home, but the food just didn't impress us. We'll probably try it again at some point. read more

When we got there, they were operating on a wait list and we had to wait outside at first, took that as a good sign, it's popular! Felt nostalgic because my grandma and grandpa had a kitchen table with the same pattern as the tables. It is old, but clean, no red flags... Service was friendly, but nothing special. The food was incredibly disappointing. I had house made corned beef hash. That's pretty difficult to make bland and tasteless, but it was. My mom had a benedict of some sort and didn't enjoy that either and the only thing my dad tried was an english muffin with peanut butter. We ate elsewhere later. read more

I will give this place a 5 star for the friendliness alone. We were greeted at the door, taken to our seat and every single person from the staff to the customers felt like family. It reminds me of the diner in my home town where they know what you want before you sit down. Danny was our server and just lovely. She gave good suggestions and was very attentive. Sunday morning 20 min wait at 11AM was well worth it it. Food was amazing and service from Larry was spot on. Everyone was welcoming and went out of their way to make it enjoyable. Always looking for adventure and my next Yelp review, I immediately diverted my plans and pulled in to enjoy a meal. Upon entering I was really impressed with what they have done with the place. They took an old very outdated place and breathed some mid-century light into it. They have created a really nice 50's diner kind of vibe. My service was fantastic.
