Since it was our first visit, we needed a minute to look over the menu. It is extensive! It did take over 5 min for our server to come back and the table was sticky. He quickly corrected that! First place I ate in visit to Dallas. I'm was skeptical at first as the place in a small shopping center where most stores were closed or empty understandably because it was before 10. The entrance door is tinted out w no signage to know if the is was the correct entrance but it was (store next door was vacant w tinted windows). When I entered it was night and day, definitely don't judge the place from the outside. The server was very friendly and attentive. The menu was overwhelming to say the least, she noticed I was lost help guide me. I ordered OWC French toast, 2 eggs, turkey sausage patty, and cheese grits. The French toast was fire. I had 2 4 triangles and was upset I didn't get more but I didn't need it. The sausage and eggs were normal, Grits ok. Nothing to Bragg about but good. They had a lot of Western style art and decor. Decent service, large portions of food that has the potential to be great in an attempt at a western atmosphere. Not the best visit to this local chain. But still good. Came on a Saturday morning. Checked in. Was told 15-20 minutes. After 25 minutes and seeing others go in that showed up after, checked my wait time through the text message, and we were not in line any anymore. Went inside and we were not in the list anymore, they scrambled to find us a table. Service was ok. Kitchen was defiantly slow. I understand it was a Saturday and we had a lot of food come out for 4 people, but no one's food was hot. Inside it almost just an open space with as much western stuff on the walls as they fit. I got the Warrior French toast. Very tasty. Sausage patties were good. Wife got the Trail Boss French toast. On the menu it is described as "cinnamon" crisp. There was no crisp, but still tasty. Friend got the "tacos" with a "flapjack". Her tacos were as big as quesadillas and the flapjack was bigger than the plate it came on. Her meal could have fed the table! We have been to the Grapevine location a few times, based on this visit the Grapevine location is better and will be a preferred visit. Decided on Old West Cafe in Bedford. Service is always wonderfully word the 10 minute seating wait. Okay, so two adults with normal appetites be forwarned, the portion sizes? TEXAS big and as big as Texas. I ordered the sampler. Sampler comes with two healthy sausage patties, two slices of bacon, a healthy thick slice of country ham. 3 large eggs, biscuit w/ sausage gravy.... keep going.. fried breakfast potatoes ( Iadded onions), and a flapjack the size of a double stack or normal critter sized pancakes. The flapjack was a meal unto itself. This was an enormous amount of food. Could have split this for dos. Had coffee. This comes in an adult sized cup, rich, fresh brewed, super scolding hot n steamy. The ambiance is pure western flair. Nothing to subtract a star for here. The price, considering food portion size, quality, cleanliness of the restaurant is a better value that ,rhymes with "Wafflehaus." Love it. I don't think I've ever seen a pancake as big as my hand!!! My kids were so full after all this food we had to wheel them out! I had the French toast and it was so so good. I enjoyed it and my husband enjoyed his omelet as well. We got here early and by the time we left the line to get I was out of the door. Y'all. For real. If you haven't visited an Old West Cafe, you MUST try it. It's definitely not your everyday breakfast place, but indulge at least once and eat your heart out. The pancakes are bigger than your head. The hash brown casserole is so yummy. And the service is always on point. Be prepared you might have a bit of a wait as it's always busy for breakfast, but worth it! So it might be a tad noisy but not overwhelming and still enjoyable. However, if you get the chance, definitely try the hearty, authentic American breakfast here. Came in on a Friday around noon and the place was decently packed but not so much that me and my party of three weren't able to get a booth. I ordered the wrangler, which came with 3 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, grilled ham and your option of either hasbrown, hashbrown casserole or fried potatoes and a biscuit with cream gravy or sausage gravy. AND this dish also came with a side of either French toast or flapjacks WHICH INCLUDE THE SPECIALTY ONES. I opted for the hasbrown casserole (has cheese) and cream gravy and got the mugwamp French toast. The picture may not look impressive but my meal was delectable. Everything came out hot and my fresh toast was Cooked perfectly with the fruit extremely fresh. The blueberries were massive and sweet and the strawberries were also really tasty. There was a slight sugar crunch on the fresh toast, almost as if it were coated with sugar and then bruleed - no complaints here. Also a side note - my boyfriend got an omelet (can't remember which one) but said it was probably one of the best omelets he had ever. We were there on Saturday morning they were of course busy an we had a little time to wait which is understandable, somehow our name got taken off the wait list so we had to go back an see if they had forgotten us. I ordered a soda an there cabarination was not working so I had to pick something else so I got apple juice (which they gave me a large without asking an was charged for.) The old West Café has always been a staple breakfast place that we have visited many times over the years. Today was a big disappointment. I understand Biden economics, and that everything cost more now than it did three years ago. But two eggs, two sausage and hashbrowns probably shouldn't run $12.00. The staff was competent and friendly. That's about the best thing I can say about them. The biggest problem was with the food. I ordered two eggs (over medium), two sausage parts, and crispy hashbrowns. Amazingly, one of my eggs was over easy, with runny whites, well the other egg was over medium. They were connected, cooked in the same pan. How do you do that? My hashbrowns were crispy on the outside mushy undercooked on the inside. My sausage kept falling apart when I tried to stick a fork in it. Everything tasted OK, and I made do with the runny eggs. My wife had the blackberry pancakes with two eggs and bacon, scrambled. Her pancakes were amazing. The bacon was good. The eggs had a very weird flavor to them, which I did not find out until after she had eaten most of them. My Daughter had the eggs with hollandaise sauce. She said everything that she had was good with no problems. The coffee sucked. It wasn't burnt, but it was close. All of this for right at $60. My friend and I went there for lunch, most of the stuff was made of chicken. So I decided to get a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. And that's basically what it was. The decor is a western theme and has a very large realistic horse with John Wayne sitting in the saddle. I have been eating at Oldwest cafe' for maybe 3-4 years now. We even went on Christmas morning one time. They get a lot of people so sometimes there's a wait time from 10-20 minutes but Oldwest is worth it. They are only open until 2:00 PM each day.
