Google searched breakfast restaurants near my hotel and found this gem. My husband and I arrived around 10 am on a busy Saturday morning and were seated rather quickly. The hostesses and waitstaff were very friendly and attentive. The menu items make it hard to decide what to get, but once we settled on our choices, we were not disappointed. Serving sizes are definitely Texas-sized, so we would probably share a plate next time (but that didn't stop us from almost completely devouring our individual plates today). I would have to rate the Chicken Fried Steak as one of the best I've had and the Sausage Gravy was amazing! The grits were also perfect! First time at this location, if it's anything like the one, in Grapevine, it will be great! Western atmosphere, good service, great food! We got the Wild West (4 egg) omelette with the cinnamon roll and fresh fruit (as our side choices). Oh my g0$, this is the biggest omelette I've ever seen! I remember them being big, but this is huge! There's no way the two of us can eat all this food (we could not)! See picture. The omelette comes with salsa, which was excellent. Loaded with bacon, sausage, ham, onion, bell pepper, mushroom, tomato, jalapeños, hash browns, & blend of cheddar, american, & monterrey. Served with 2 breakfast sides & salsa. However, I prefer my hashbrowns on the outside, not on the inside. But that's just me! I think it took longer to get water, which wasn't that long, than it took to get our meal. One of my favorite breakfast/brunch small chain. The breakfast is one of the best southern cooking, big portions for a great price. No bells and whistles. Just simple southern country breakfast/lunch. Wait times can be long here. Glad they have a phone system to hold your place. I believe there are no reservations. Normally I would give this place a 5 stars. But over the years that I've been going here, I've notice a decline in their food quality. My favorite thing here was the lemon blueberry pancake. It used to be phenomenal. Not anymore. It used to have a handful of fresh blueberries in it and came with a blueberry sauce. My pancake today literally had less than 5 blueberry pieces inside the pancake. I had half the pancake and only came across two pieces of fruit. VERY DISAPPOINTING. My second choice would have been the banana French toast. But it seems they took that off their menu as well. After today's meal, I have no cravings to come back here since it was mainly for the pancakes. Sigh pretty disappointed. read more

I have been coming here for many years and just now able to write a review. On our visit 7/15/23 we had yet another great experience. Service was great, as always. I did notice menu has changed since the last time and I felt it was a little harder to read that the other. Everything was hot, fresh, delicious. Only issue I've had with this place is the noise level. It's always so loud - the design creates a loud environment. It's always been this way. we came around 1230 pm and the breakfast rush was gone and we were able to have a conversation and not feel like we were screaming. Food is hot when it is brought to you table and often it is not your server. If your server is busy and it comes up, someone rushes it to your table. Your coffee cup rarely gets below half full. Someone is always trolling the dining area with hot fresh coffee. Get there early on weekends, it fills up fast but the waits are never long except on Sundays after church. read more

I will fully admit that I was not able to order items I desired due to coming on Christmas Eve (Im thankful they were even open). I was also admit that my girlfriend's order was exactly what she wanted and exceeded her expectation. The wait staff here is fantastic! I ended up with the Bronco, which was two eggs, a brekfast meat, a pancake, and the breakfast casserole as my side. The eggs were standard, the sausage were a little on the dry side but had flavor, and the breakfast casserole felt like a chunky loaded baked potato swirl. The pancakes here are disappointing; Highly dense and barely has any moiusture. The syrup on the table is nothing special and its the only way I could choke down the pancake. Of course these are plate size, so they give you more than you should eat. The only thing I will state as a positive are the fresh blueberries that were baked into my pancake. The french toast is SO MUCH BETTER than the pancakes here! One bite of my girlfriend's pecan maple french toast was better than my entire meal! One other note I will share is their omlettes are HUGE! A four egg omlette looked like a yellow blanket folded over on a plate. I highly recommend you consider this or prepare to have leftovers. Saturdays are busy at Oldwest! Two of us showed up at 11 on Saturday morning, and it was packed. We waited for 40 minutes for a table. Upon being seated, we were given one menu. The table was set with silverware rolled up in a napkin and plenty of syrup and condiments. The server took our drink orders and gave us time to decide what we wanted. I ended up orderig the Wild West omelette, minus jalapenos. The order arrived within 10 minutes, and it was prepared exactly the way I wanted it. The server was attentive without being intrusive. The food was tasty and delicious, the sliced tomatoes I had on the side were ripe and fresh tasting, and the grits were hot and tasty. To surprise and delight there were two thick slices of tomato and those wonderful purple onion slices, along with a crispy piece of lettuce. Whenever we visit family in the Metroplex, we always make one or two stops at the Old West Cafe, it simply can not be beaten. A few days ago we stopped in for Breakfast. James was our Server and he was terrific! Attentive and helpful. Like someone else said, the Pancakes have a diameter of 10" to 12". The Coffee is great, the food options are endless and the relaxed atmosphere is perfect for a meal woith your family, friend(s) or mate.
