Super traditional diner food, done right. Nothing fancy, just solid, well cooked comfort food. The biggest standout was the speed. Our food came out in about ten minutes, and from the time we sat down to the time we paid and walked out, we were done in under forty five minutes. The service was excellent. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive, and clearly used to handling a busy crowd. The place was packed, which tells you everything you need to know. Despite how busy it was, we were taken great care of the entire time. My buddy ordered the chicken fried chicken and said it was delicious, with fantastic gravy and huge portions. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept, including the bathrooms, which always matters. This is not a fine dining spot, but it is a top notch diner that delivers exactly what it promises. This place is really cute. The decor is very Texas cafe and it was very clean inside. The servers were really helpful and efficient. They have a wide range on the menu from all day breakfast, sandwiches, salads and handhelds. We were a big party of 8 they moved tables around to fit us and we got our food in good time. Food and service has always and still is good. My complaint is the fact that I'm very hot natured, my wife is not, but the restaurant is ALWAYS freezing. I understand that it is cold to help the servers, but when I have to eat my entire plate in three minutes or less to have hot food, it's TOO COLD. You cannot go in there and have a nice relaxed meal due to the fact it is so cold. When I said something to the owner about the temperature he dismissed everything I was saying. Made a joke about it. I found it very disrespectful to be dismissed. I will never tolerate that kind of disrespect and promise that I will NEVER go back. Driving in Davis we always see this cafe and got curious so we tried it out. It's in my city so might as well support it. Went here on a Sunday after church and it is packed. Food was tasty and comes in big servings. The service was great; servers were receptive and attentive. Ambience was a typical breakfast/lunch place--a bit loud because it is packed and people kept coming. Met the owner Sal who periodically goes table to table to check and make sure everything is ok and served to our liking. We found our breakfast go-to. I went for breakfast a couple of months ago, and was sorely disappointed. Breakfast is among my favorite meals, and my most frequent cause for going out. The food was under seasoned and a bit cold. My brunch companion was most disappointed with her grits. I was simply underwhelmed by the total package. The service was a bit slow, but they seemed to be short staffed for a Saturday morning. We saw some reviews and decided to give this a try. We came one Sunday morning and was a particularly cold morning so it wasn't terribly busy. The inside is decorated very nicely and looks like it's been updated quite a bit. The staff was a little underwhelming. Several of the waitresses seemed to stand in the restaurant for 10 or 15 minutes at a time just chitchatting until a boss came around and told him to get busy. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and it was just so so . There wasn't enough spices to give it flavor. I had to use salt and pepper quite a bit. The eggs and bacon and sausage were just so so as well nothing that really wowed me. The French toast was good and I have to give them credit for that. What I really wasn't impressed with was a three dollar black cup of coffee. That's a bit much for a café. read more

One of the best Brunch spots in the mid-cities area. They get packed, but go quickly. The cafe is bustling with all likes of folks all gathered to have some delicious brunch. One thing that stands out in particular about Boulevard Cafe is the portion size - they give you a lot of food, and it is reasonably priced as well. Dining room is split in two with a bar seating in the middle. The service was good. They were very busy. Took a little bit for the food to come, but not bad with every seat taken. Whenever I go to a new breakfast place I will usually go for the corned beef hash on the first visit. This was the best corned beef hash I ever had. It was defiantly fresh made with shredded corned beef and hash browns. Most places it's just similar to the canned variety we all know and love. This was not that. Went there for lunch today. Had a rueban and fries. It was delicious, he cooks his own corn beef and cuts it for sandwiches. Best sandwich I have eaten in years. The service was spot on. Even though the place was packed, we were seated, waited on and served in a very timely manner. The place was packed so the noise level was a little high but not enough to not be able to have a conversation with your person you were sitting with.
