I really do want to love this place, I wanted to love it when it was Wood Grain Bistro. I heard it had been sold so I decided to check it out with my sister and her family. It's cute and the menu has great options. But there are just some things that need attention. The space desperately needs some fabric somewhere to soften the sounds. Curtains, pillows, a rug, anything. The chairs are too small for larger adults. I broke my leg end of last year and gained weight, so I have to sit half off the chair or it digs into me because the booths along the back wall are usually not available. The food. It's fine. The biscuits are dense, the pancakes are dense, the coffee drinks are pretty weak, it's just... fine. It's not bad, it's not great, it's fine. The eggs are good and the avocado is delicious. Second time visit and the service is still great. They changed the name of the restaurant but the menu stayed the same. I had the corned beef hash and it was not good. It was like canned corned beef. I've only been here twice but it is worth the drive; the first time we came here I wasn't sure what to expect- needless to say they blew my expectations away with amazing service and delicious food. I ordered a Build Yr Own Omelette while my partner ordered French Toast. He loves his and so do I. The portion are amazing for the prices, and I LOVE the breakfast potatoes. I could come here just for that. A lot of places' breakfast potatoes are smaller but this cafe has it right. Only concern is that waiting time can take a while if you come during busy hours. We were so excited to finally try Wood & Grain! First off, their hours are better than most breakfast/brunch places around as they're open till 3 on weekends. Our lazy, sleepy selves much appreciated this! Inside ambience is pared down and minimalistic. Very cosy! The service was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. She even let us move tables since we ordered so much food and needed more space. (Lol) The coffee is strong and served in generous portions. They have an amazing list of speciality coffees/lattes to choose from too! We want to try those next time! I really wanted to like this place. A couple of friends invited us to try this place out and it's cute, had decent seating, and the waitress was nice and friendly. I got the Lox Toast per recommendation of the waitress. We ate, it was good, and the portions were good. I was on my last bite and I started to feel nauseous. We paid, left, and not 20 minutes later I threw up. After throwing up I felt immediately better. I don't know what it was but my husband also had a stomach ache after eating there. I hate wasted food so I was really upset. It might have been the lettuce or something, nothing tasted off and I had nothing to eat before this meal. But they've sold their soul to the devil and bought into the whole "let's be cool" vibe and their standards have completely gone down hill. When we asked for another one...her response "oh you want one too??" Wow.). Anyways, our extremely greasy "food" finally arrived. Denver omelet....more like overcooked scrambled eggs glued together, Eggs Florentine with broken hollandaise sauce....and brunt crispy hash browns with uncooked potatoes in the middle. Went on a friday afternoon and was surprised it was pretty empty. Our server was so friendly and gave us plenty of time to look over everything. The Vietnamese coffee was incredible, i feel like a lot of places tend to burn it but theirs was sweet and smooth. Both of our entrees were delicious and good portions. It's so rare to find a place where the biscuits don't seem like they were pulled out of the freezer and stuck in the microwave, but theirs were perfect. They also have a little shelf full of local goodies such as jams/honeys that you can purchase alongside your meal. The restaurant is counter service, and the women working there were very kind and patient as we perused the menu. My friend ordered an entree, but 40 minutes in we were still waiting for our food. The thyme biscuit was a win, too. The surprise find was the side salad. It's basically just mixed greens but they dress it with a house-made lemon vinaigrette that is the perfect balance to any main dish-and it's huge! Haven't been in awhile and decided it'd be nice to go visit. Seems they got bought out and changed the name "Lovely Day Cafe". The service and food are no longer great. Took awhile to get our order taken, and even longer for the food to come out compared to the previous times I've eaten here. Almost every time I come in, I get the crispy chicken sandwhich and it is always extremely delicious. This time, I find they have taken away the amazing coleslaw and sauce. My 3 review is primarily on the food which wasn't my cup of tea. We stopped by on a recent Saturday, which wasn't too busy compared to other places. The space is pretty open, with a fast casual ordering (grab a menu, order with the cashier, grab your drinks & sit). The coffee and mimosa were good. But the coffee was a bit too hot for me; it needed to cool down for a while. The food wasn't necessarily our favorite, but it wasn't awful either. The lox toast is served on a house made sourdough, which was pretty thin and soury when paired with the lox. The toppings were pretty sparse and left much to be desired. My personal liking would have had this on a thicker, multigrain bread, sliced & topped w lox with a squeeze of lemon & red onion strips. Hubs ordered the tacos and it says a lot when he only eats 1. He wasn't too impressed with his selection. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing so we'll keep this on our list of places to try again. On a recent Saturday it was pretty slow which was amazing! Love this place and it had become our go to Brunch spot on Saturdays when not working. Today though? Not good. Waited an hour from the time seated till food arrived and order was not correct and food quality not the same. Our server refused to look our way from the time we ordered till food was ready, which was unfortunate as we wanted to order an additional coffee order. Another server was too busy walking around the Dining Room snacking on a waffle. My husband had to get up and get silverware as that was not brought to the table. We still come here every so often, and it is always good! This last time we tried the hot chocolate, and it is some of the best we've ever had: rich, chocolately, piping hot, and perfectly balanced. So many places serve watery or bitter hot chocolate, but Wood & Grain is on point! I do miss the lovely bar they used to have along the window, as it was my favorite place to sit. Time for an updated review! Today after church, I decided to chat with my friend and eat here! There is a book shelf at the entrance in case anyone wants to entertain kiddos with a book while they wait for the order to arrive. I thought that was a brilliant idea! Perhaps they accept books to donate as well? I should have asked, a book exchange is always a wonderful idea. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles with fruit as my side, and my friend ordered the WG Burger with fries as hers. The chicken/waffles comes with cinnamon butter and syrup, so tasty! Her fries were delicious and fresh! There is no sweet tea, only unsweetened. I went with a lemon water. My kiddo ordered the yogurt bowl with a milk; however, they had run out of straws for my little. At this point in life, I cannot even be upset. Therefore, I'm grateful for they DID have! Great food! I didn't have time before work to have breakfast, so I made this discovery on my way. Once I walked in Wood and Grain Bistro, the ambience has a cozy and rustic feel that makes you feel like home. The servers are extremely attentive and the owners are very welcoming! I ordered The Classic Bedford which was a great suggestion for a quick typical breakfast.
