This was our first time trying NYPD Deli. It was fantastic! The bread was fresh and the sandwiches were filled with meat and toppings. I called in a to go order and everything was correct. Stromboli's aren't popular in Dallas, so I chose this place to see how it would be . It looks closed on the outside, but it's indeed open and was empty inside. I ordered a Stromboli that took 10min, and to my surprise was completely raw inside. The cooks clearly don't check with a thermometer. The first bite was decent and after the 3rd bite I realized it wasn't fully cooked and returned the Stromboli. They remade it, and it was cooked all the way through the second time -- by a different staff member. They need to train their staff to follow the same procedures to prep before serving food that could make customers sick. I wouldn't recommend. read more

Solid NY style pizza with the thinner, foldable crust. Pretty darn good sandwiches, too! Love that you can just have a slice or two on your lunch break. Question the cleanliness based on how dated everything is, but you can see them making your food and the prep areas do not look as bad as the dining area and bathrooms do. I tried this place for lunch and the Big Apple sandwich stood out to me with it having 4 meats and 3 cheeses. Excellent sandwich with perfect meat/cheese to bread ratio. This place is absolutely terrible. I ordered a grilled chicken salad with honey mustard and a buffalo chicken sub from here. The chicken on both was soo dry and tough that it was inedible. They gave me regular hot dog mustard for my salad. The buffalo sub was not even a sub, it was dry and cold chicken on two slices of sandwich bread with some wing sauce lightly drizzled on it. I wasn't able to eat any of it. This was the worst service and food I've ever ordered for takeout. I requested a refund due to these major issues and it was denied. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Got a Philly cheesesteak and it was terrible. Who puts minced beef on a Philly cheesesteak. Not to mention the place smells. Look underneath your Parmesan container. Tried ordering online and the phone was busy signal for over an hour. Pulling up to the restaurant no crib appeal at all, building and parking lot looks dirty and old. Walked inside and it was basically the same all the tables and chairs are in big need of replacement. Old tables and chairs stacked up in a corner on top of each other just dirty. Now for the food the pizza was maybe a 6 out of 10 not bad but not great. I agree with the other reviews the pizzas are good size and slices are big. But the quality could be so much better. Also ordered a sandwich called the godfather and it was an absolute mess. First off the top of the bread and the wrapper that the sandwich came in was covered in spicy type of mustard. I don't have an issue with mustard but last I checked it doesn't go on the top of the bread. Besides that the bread was grocery store quantity and chewy. Meats tasted fresh and had great flavor. We had two large pizzas and bread sticks and we paid 45 dollars. The price for the quality is way off. If your going to charge like that you better come correct. Fatboy tip: this is not a date night place unless you don't like him/her then in that case your good lol. Take out is definitely your best option. read more

The guys that work there are so nice and friendly to everyone that comes in. This is my 2nd visit. The first time, I had pizza at the end of lunch and this time I had the Stromboli. I personally think the food is nothing to brag about but the service is so good, it makes me want to try it 1 more time. The Stromboli didn't have much meat especially to the other topping ratio and I'm not even a big meat eater. I miss one in Euless where the owner died (never reopened) and haven't had a local real pizza since. My daughter's friend's dad recommended NYPD and it was the BEST. PIZZA. EVER. The chair arm rests let you down more than the pizza. Ever had chicken deli meat in a buffalo chicken sub? Me either until now. Never knew that was considered NY style. Remind me never to go to NY. So I've gone here a handful of times for a pizza pie which are always crispy and delicious. This time I opted for a Sicilian pie which is a square pizza deep dished, never had one in TX, it was on their menu and was excited to try. There's a catch you have to call 2 hrs in advance to place your order b/c they are custom made well unfortunately I always forget. Not yesterday I finally ordered my Sicilian pie and let me say it's not what I'm used to, Sicilians are traditionally deep dished and largely sliced, this one was semi deep and smaller than expected BUT for under $20 and 12 pieces its a steal. I gave it 5 stars b/c it brought me home (I'm from NY) and if this is TX style I'm for it. Thank you NYPD no more pizza pie it's Sicilians for me moving forward. read more

Another little gem from my buddies at Yelp! NYPD Deli was just the perfect spot for lunch. The owner, Tommy, is manning the store today and welcomed us right in. My husband had an amazing, specialty pizza. The chicken and hamburger meat were good quality. That thing was 18"!! I asked if he could make me a hot ham & cheese, and he said of course. I love it with the creamy Italian dressing on it. We also shared a Greek salad, Tahoe was delicious and had an awesome homemade Greek dressing to go with it. There was one guy taking and delivering orders, and another guy in the kitchen. It seemed like another employee would have really sped up the wait time, but I'm not sure if that's standard or they were just short-staffed that day. I ordered the special, which was a turkey wrap. It was a little sad - not very full, the ends were open and drippy, and it just missed the mark. The sauce (ranch for this one) is served on the side, which I don't mind either way, and this ranch was very good.
