All the staff were very kind and fast. We came on a Saturday morning and it was pretty slow until about 9:30. So the earlier the better. I got the Heart To Heart pancakes, which I was hesitant about the whole grain batter but it was very very good! Mi novia got the Berry Berry Bo Berry pancakes and it was so good, the berries tasted amazing, as well as so fresh! The berries were all throughout the pancakes and they were served hot and stayed hot all whilst she was eating them. On top of that, the syrup came warm as well! I enjoy my experience here each time I visit. They give HUGE mugs for coffee and the costs here are affordable. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get the side of tomatoes I asked for, but I think that was an error of communication as I also requested a side biscuit, whish i did receive. I love, love, love local, local, local. I still remember this spot in other iterations of businesses. In the last few years It's been serving up smiles, kindness, and homemade food. Southern comfort favorites. I enjoy the fact they serve up the coffee in an adult size mug. Big big. No one who enjoys coffee wants a sip. We want to savor, to drink a big steaming cup of brew. They understand the assignment. I have yet to butter a slice of toast here that wasn't fresh or done as if it wasn't just as important as the entree. The devil is truly in the details. Brookside cafe is a great hidden gem that you must try. It has a down home country feel, it's clean and the staff is amazing. Our server Steve was very attentive and friendly. The food was very good even my husband was impressed with the fluffy scrambled eggs. I got the sampler plate the bacon was crisp, the ham and sausage was flavorful, the eggs were cooked to perfection, the fruit was sweet and the pancakes were light and fluffy. I didn't take any pictures but I visited this location yesterday for breakfast. I ordered the biscuits and gravy combo and l everything other than the eggs seemed to be reheated. From the bacon, to the sausages to the toasted biscuits. The gravy was lumpy and so I chose not to eat it but the pancakes were pretty good. Waitstaff were kind and I guess just hoped for a better meal. Maybe next time. read more

A great diner experience - good food, good staff, huge coffee cups! Parking: There's tons of parking which is great! The restaurant itself is on the smaller size relative to parking. Seating: When we arrived they were pretty busy (noonish on a saturday). Despite the smaller size, the tables move quickly and there's flexible seating. We had a group of 5, but most tables are set for 4. There was no problem pulling a chair over (another group pushed 2 tables together). It's great how flexible and laid back the environment is to allow for that Food: I love that you can order breakfast or lunch anytime. We all got coffee and the coffee cups are huge which was extremely exciting (because we always drink tons of coffee at diners). The pumpkin pancakes were a special and definitely worth it! Breakfast plate was a solid choice. The chicken fried chicken was amazing- though the mashed potatoes were a bit cold and not soft. I wish I was able to give this a 4.5 but since there's no half stars I'll go with a 4. I do need to give a shout out to our server ! He was really awesome and had a great personality. read more

It's been a few days since came here, but forgot to post the review. They have interesting flavors of pancakes, so I decided to try one. I got the peanut butter cup pancake platter. Overall I was very pleased and was very sad when ate all but a couple of bites of the pancake and was too full to finish it off. They were really good, though very rich. The bacon and eggs were nothing special, but they were bacon and eggs, so didn't expect much lol. They have other flavors of pancakes, like Oreo and such, so I wouldn't object to trying this again. But I might just get the peanut butter cup one again... Very tasty read more

If you want a delicious and affordable breakfast spot, this is the place to go. The inside is smaller with just a few tables, but we have never had to wait for a table. The service is always very fast and we haven't had to wait long for our food. The food is delicious, we have tried so many different menu items and they have all been good. Last time I was there, I had the berry berry boo berry pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and they put just enough fruit in the pancakes. The bacon was also nice and crispy, and the eggs were fluffy. We tried this place for brunch today & it was pretty good. We were seated pretty fast. Our waitress was really sweet & the food was almost perfect. Javier & I both ordered coffee. They give you big huge cups of strong coffee so a lot of sugar & creamer were needed for us but it was good. X ordered a small apple juice & water. Javier (bf) ordered steak (well done) & eggs w/pancakes. He could not stop going on & on about it. I tasted his steak & being that it was well done I wasn't about it, but for him he loved it. X-(his daughter) ordered the peanut butter cup pancakes w/bacon & a side of hash browns. She said it was good but to sweet to finish so her dad finished it for her & brought his pancakes home for breakfast tomorrow morning LOL. I tasted hers & they were really good but I would have to agree with her. I ordered the hamburger steak lunch w/ corn & mashed potatoes. It was delicious. The only complaint was the potatoes were very very heavy on the pepper. I had Javier taste to make sure it wasn't just me & he said wow I think I'm going to sneeze. . Give it a try. The only other complaint my 2 brunch companions had was that it took a good 30-35 minutes for our food to come out. I think they were hangry. So I bought a Groupon because I love breakfast but then I got worried because I saw mixed reviews however I don't know what y'all experienced but I am ready to go back! I took my little person with me on a Monday morning and we walked in and were told to sit anywhere we like. There was a sign at the door letting us know that they were short staffed so going in I knew what to expect. We got seated and Virginia took our order and I swear it didn't take long for our food to come out. The food was good, although my steak came out over cooked, Virginia offered to replace it for me, the grits were not my favorite but I'm a southern gal and I'm picky about my grits, we were given hot syrup for our pancakes and the pancakes were bigger than most places. I ordered some coffee and took a look at the menu. So many options. Since I am in a calorie deficit I tried to keep it simple by choosing the Ham and Eggs. The ham and eggs come with Hash browns and a side of toast or a biscuit. I chose some toast. The breakfast tasted really good and fresh. The eggs were fluffy and the ham was perfectly cooked. Service was very good although it took to long to get our bill and our server appeared to take a break mid-service? It was odd, but nevertheless not a big deal. If you like local diner type breakfast, it won't dissapoint. I would go back for the pancakes and homemade bisquits. I had been craving some strawberry banana pancakes and the only place I could think of was IHOP. I try to support local as much as possible and thanks to Yelp I was able to find this little spot on Hurst. I ordered for pick up but my food was still warm and delicious when I got home. I love how they weren't stingy with the cheese on my eggs like most places so I was able to eat most of them. Oh! & the pancakes because I ordered strawberry banana, it also had the fruit inside the pancakes! So yummy! My only thing is since I ordered to go, I didn't get a lot of syrup to drown my pancakes in, but luckily I had some extra at home will try some of their sweet pancakes next time or the biscuits my husband ordered which smelled sooo good! read more
