I have been wanting to stop by for years and finally decided to make the trip to see what the hype is all about. The bakery is quaint and small, and was quite busy while we were there. This is not a place you can sit to eat and drink; there is no seating, so expect to purchase and go. I got a country loaf, wheat loaf, and three almond bars for $22. Everything was fresh and delicious. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because I sadly have to agree with some of the other reviews about the customer service. There were two women working while we were there. The younger girl was sweet and friendly, but the older lady was quite rude and unpleasant. Seeing as I had been excited to visit for quite some time, it was disappointing and off-putting to be met with attitude/grumpiness from staff. Throughout the years the prices have remained the same at this charming local Germany bakery. I'm grateful for that and the customer service here is quick and friendly. The bakery is spacious, warm and inviting. BreadHaus has delicious bread that is baked fresh throughout the week. I recommend their sourdough bread. For treats, I haven't had a pastry that I didn't like. My favorites are the cowboy cookie, blueberry scone, snickerdoodle and chocolate chip cookie. I look forward to my next visit. read more

just beautiful. I have some wurst from Muenster and lack the necessary skills to make my own proper brötchen so I stopped by BreadHaus. I came way too late in the day (didn't pre-plan at all haha) so I did miss the brötchen however I got some Bavarian rye & an olive loaf, plus a square of pumpkin spice crumble and lebkuchen. I immediately tried everything when I got home and I am THOROUGHLY impressed. I will be coming back immediately for the brötchen even though I'm quite far! I particularly recommend the olive bread: it genuinely tastes like you have just dipped a piece of great bread in some well seasoned, quality olive oil! Finding this bakery means a lot to me. I used to live in Germany as a child and because my memory isn't great, I mostly have my palate / sensory memory to go by. These flavors brought me right back. I noticed that stollen was being sold but I didn't pick it up just because I wasn't sure about the authenticity. I have been going there for about twenty years. Petra and John have always had something good and were welcoming. Now with these new owners who are never there, you can see that all they want to do is make a buck. That is if you have a card because they do not take cash anymore. I drive 40 miles one way for their bread and treats but since they don't want my money I can save the miles and the cash. Now they're selling franchise. solid 4 star place, found this place following the grapevine edit. we picked up a few items, (blueberry square, sweet potato square, pretzel and a pizza square). everything was great, delicious and fresh. there are no tables to sit down inside, this place is more for take out. I have been passing by here for years and never thought to come in. I have no excuse why. I got a wild hair and decided to come in a little after noon on a Saturday. I knew they were open until 4. Well, I was not the only one who had this idea, there was a line! And they were sold out of most things. They still had some sweet baked goods, pretzels (which appeared to be VERY popular), but they had frozen loafs available. I came in looking for sourdough. I ended up buying a frozen loaf that was presliced. That is super handy, as you can pull out a few pieces for toast and keep the rest frozen. The quality was great and the biggest surprise was the price! They are literally $0.25 more expensive than one I usually get at central market. BreadHaus is an awesome bread bakery that has been in Grapevine for a number of years. My youngest and I stopped in to try it after dropping of my oldest at a camp, while we were deciding on something to do to fill the time before it was time to drop him off. We got various items, and we enjoyed everything that we picked up. Staff was friendly and helpful with it having been a first visit for us. We'll keep them in our loop when we need something for a nice dinner, or when we just want a treat when in this area! read more

The staff is friendly. The main problem is that they are using tap water to make their bread and Grapevine's public water is quite toxic. The result is that the bread that I bought felt like it was burning my mouth. Grapevine's water contains excessive arsenic, bromochloroacetic acid, bromodichloromethane, haloacetic acids, and even the nonstick chemicals PFOA and PFOS. These chemicals variously cause cancer and birth defects. The store is small but it's not a sit-down establishment. read more

This is classic small town bakery. The cookies, lemon squares, pretzels, pies etc. are all very tasty. I particularly like their cinnamon rolls and chocolate pecan pie. While they promote the "family owned" element of the business, it does not reveal itself in their customer service. The front of the house staff is unable to be pleasant. I went in four days in a row and ironically the same woman helped me. She was surly and grumpy. No oven-side manner. They are literally the best and healthiest bakery in Texas. All of their ingredients are natural and chemical free. I wrote a book and published it on Amazon called "Copy Ditto" and did a lot of study on baked goods. If someone is going to have bread, it should have no added sugars, dyes, or bakers yeast. A sour starter is always the best, and that's what they use. They can even make sourdough pizza dough for you to make homemade pizza for special occasions. When I found this out, I was blown away because our pizza was perfect and I don't want to eat anyone else's- ever. I highly recommend this place, plus they are kind and professional. They even made 200 pieces of beautiful sourdough rolls for an event that I had and everyone raved about how amazing they tasted. read more

Oddly, we were looking for a cup of coffee. We didn't find it, but what we did find was an amazing old school bakery. All the breads and sweets are made from scratch using only organic flours, grains and seeds. The hearth baked breads are shaped by hand and baked directly on the oven floor. Not sure how they do it, but the breads contain no added sugars, fats, dairy or eggs. The eggs used in the sweet items come from cage-free chickens. [I read this off a sign while waiting] There was one customer in front of us, and after buying what seemed to be one of every item in the store, we finally got our turn at the counter. We had plenty of time to think about what we wanted, so we ended up with a loaf of date oatmeal bread (available Thursday and Saturday), a cinnamon bun (Thu, Fri, Sat), an apricot almond bar and a pumpkin spice bar (bars available daily). We then hit a Starbucks and on the way home and drank our coffee and ate our sweets in the car. The sweet thick frosting on the cinnamon bun went great with the coffee. The bun was so good that we dug into the pumpkin spice bar. The bar was not nearly as sweet as the bun and would have gone very well with a hot tea (the coffee tended to over power the flavor of the bar). It was a very delicious treat. Since things were going so well, we just had to give the apricot almond bar a try. It too had the perfect balance of sweet, allowing the natural subtle flavors of the apricot and almond to come through. We have not tried the bread yet, but I have no doubt it will be every bit as delicious as the sweets we ate in the car. PS. We've been past this place many times too, and this was our first time in. I doubt we will ever drive past the BreadHaus again without stopping... The products are that good! Omg my love for this place is real. I don't know how there aren't just lines out the door. Maybe there are during the week... My husband and I work Mon-Fri so we only have one day a week to stock up to have enough of the goodness to last us until the next weekend when we can return. We found this place by accident the first time we came here. My husband and I were waiting for a table at Chez Fabien. It was about a 45 minute wait so we thought we'd go for a little walk. About 15-20 minutes later we stumbled upon this heavenly little shop. My goodness. Bread and baked goods galore. Take your time with this place do not rush it. First mistake on our first visit because we had to start walking back. BUT we came back for the smells alone. And once we had a chance to actually try a bunch of things....we were not disappointed. Our go to items are as follows and grow with each time that we go: - Sourdough loaf. O.M.G. and have them cut it for you.
