This little town looks like something out of a western. You don't expect much but WOW be ready to be surprised. This place was delicious. We stopped in for brunch on our travels. The staff had been flown in from the Arizona location because they were short staffed here and they were amazing. Such nice people. Great service and delicious food. I really hope they keep this location open. I know it's hard to find good people but trust me when I say this is a great spot! read more

Especially good! The French Onion soup had a rich broth and a more than adequate amount of onions. The Patty melt was one of the best. Thick slices of what seemed to be homemade rye and a thick patty grilled to perfection. Throw on some grilled onions. And not greasy! Yum! I spent but one night in the beautiful town of Silverton, and the next morning I had a powerful craving for some coffee, bacon and eggs. My partner and I were waiting outside the front door when they opened and we were waited on right away, then served our food with astonishing speed. PLEASE try the bacon steak. Six ounces of pure smoky heaven! Everything on my plate was just as I wanted it to be and the coffee was a nice breakfast blend too. I ordered the French Dip sandwich and it's not a sandwich in my opinion that should be presented on anything other than a roll. Lone spur was a welcome respite from our train ride into Silverton. Unfortunately we made the trip at the end of the tourist season and many establishments were closed. Lone Spur was open but they were short handed with only one server, one cook , and one dishwasher. They handle the situation with poise and aplomb. Our server dressed in a leather vest Ana sporting a knife in sheath on his side, took everything in stride and handle about 12 tables at a time with fast and friendly service. He never wavered and I thought handled the situation better than anyone could have. We got our food in a timely manner and it was food . I had the Cobb salad. It is large and chocked full of fresh ingredients. My wife had the French dip which she said was hot and delish. We would definitely return to lone star the next time we are in Silverton. read more

Great value! Everything was good. I usually prefer flaky biscuits to country biscuits, but these were great. The amount of food you get for breakfast will carry you well past lunch. The pancakes were as big as your head. Plenty of go fuel to start the day. The waitress seemed overwhelmed as there were so many people and they were short handed, but she was still courteous and as attentive as possible. Good food, good staff, great environment. read more

Visited twice while staying in durango, both times for breakfast. Neat western feel. Service was terrible both times we visited (this coming from an experienced server) sat in the overflow both times and it felt like our servers forgot about us and we were an afterthought. First day half of our group was locked out ? Servers kept walking past and making eye contact but didn't open the door til we had to go up and say something. That sucked. Waited 50+ minutes for our food the second day, which happens, but when it came out it was ice cold :( if you're going to make a table wait for their food, at least double check that it's hot. The food that was hot was delicious though. Service needs some tweaking and this would be a delicious place to eat. read more

Burger precooked and served is less than warm temp. Fries were cold. Once we were finally able to order, the food was served quickly. The precooked condition explains why. Additional info to consider- when the customer has to request the set up, repeatedly ask for items (ice, bbq sauce etc) and wait to pay... I would consider the service "poor" But if you're invested in watching waitstaff move a sloth like pace, be unfamiliar with the items they serve and deliver sub quality food- then this is your place. read more

A GREAT café. Inside a historic building with old western bar with separate dining area too. Western decor with artifacts and animal heads on the walls. Unique dining tables each with western motif. Had breakfast on a Sunday morning and have been back each morning. Lori, my server was very personable and attentive, as was Steve. Try the chicken fried steak, yummy. The home made biscuit are to die for, along with fresh homemade Marionberry & strawberry jam. They also have a gentleman who plays old-timey music on an antique piano. Canned music is western themed, with slot if classical country western. This "Zonie" gives the Lone Spur 5 stars and 2 thumbs up. read more

My family and I stayed next door at the Hotel just after Labor Day and we grabbed breakfast on Thursday morning before heading to Rockwood for our train Ride. The food was very tasty. One of the better eggs Benedict I have had and I loves that I could place a half order. I ordered a latte and it was delicious. They didn't make my order correctly but quickly fixed it. The atmosphere is what I would describe and old west eclectic. It was clean, fast, and priced right. My 20 oz large latte was $4.50 which, in my opinion is a good deal. Eggs Benedict with hash browns or country potatoes was $9.99, kids meal with 1 egg, 2 slices of bacon, a biscuit, and a generous serving of hash browns was $6.49. I came up to Silverton on the train and a lot of the restaurants in this town have closed due to a shortage of workers. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich and it was very dry. I had French onion soup as my side for $1 extra and it wasn't great. The cheese on top of the soup looked like they unwrapped a Kraft single. I dipped my sandwich in my soup and made it work but I would not eat here again. The person next to me got a grilled cheese and it looked disgusting. Our waitress was great and look like she was being run ragged. She came in to help at this restaurant from another restaurant in another state, they have quite a few locations. read more

The service at this restaurant was abysmal. My father, friend, and I were told to sit at a table and no one proceeded to serve us for 30 minutes. I got up and had to get our own menus. We didn't get any water or anyone to speak to us. The servers sat and served 5 more groups after us and we started to raise our hands to get their attention. No one even looked at us for another 15 minutes and the waiter finally looked at us and said to me, "Holy moly, patience is golden." That was it for us, we got up and left. Also, my server Steve was hands down one of the best servers I've ever had in any restaurant in any state or country. He was amazing--super impressed by him. The piano players are always great and add to the rustic feel of the place. We always had lunch at the Brown Bear Cafe, however they sold last spring (we ate their on their final day) so we gave this place a try on our visit last weekend. Turns out all the staff quit last week so they flew workers in from their other locations to staff the place. Andrew (who usually works at their Scottsdale location) was great. Upbeat personality and friendly. While they were short staffed, the food came out pretty quick and the French Dip was awesome! Fries were not the best, but that was ok. We will be back on future vacations to the area. read more

Came here for breakfast with a few friends. Sign at the front says seat yourself, so we sat and waited. 10 minutes goes by and no one has greeted us or gotten us water. I decided to get up and get menus for my table as we were quite hungry from the long drive. Another 15 min goes by and we notice that that 3 other groups of caucasian patrons had entered, sat, and been greeted with menus. Even their drink orders had been taken and served. At this point I begin trying to flag down one of the four wait staff that was moving around the restaurant. To no avail with my hand raised I had made eye contact with at least three of them but was still ignored. At one point my whole table had their hands up trying to flag down a member of the wait staff. Being the only latino group in the restaurant I cannot say for sure that was the reason we were not served, only that all the caucasian groups appeared to have adequate service. At around the 30 min mark we were shouted at across the restaurant by a staff member to "be patient!" At that point we left and had a fantastic meal in Ouray at Camp Bell's Cajun Cuisine! read more

This was a great experience! We were referred by some locals and we were NOT disappointed. First walking into the place, we were greeted by the piano player who is very friendly and very talented. We waited just a few minutes to sit down and were immediately asked for our drinks. We ended up ordering a steak with a salad and a rueben. Our entrees were pretty good overall, but their French Onion Soup was so good we ordered separate bowls in addition to our main courses. We highly recommend it! Needless to say the food came timely, the staff was quick to clean and refill, and we didn't leave this place unsatisfied by any means! Hopefully, we'll be able to come again next year. read more

We stopped for lunch during the train break. They were swamped but did a great job with the short staff that they had. Old time atmosphere and an excellent pianist to entertainment the diners. We ordered a brisket sandwich and burger, both were very generous in size and delicious (my brisket was the best I've had in a long time). If you want to eat here on the train lunch break hurry over we recommend you hurrying over to avoid the rush or you may not get a table. read more

The Brown Bear Cafe full so we went to the Lone Spur. I was really disappointed here. We came in on Labor Day and it was really bad. I recommend people avoid it. Four of our breakfasts with eggs had shells in them and the staff was not attentive. They served me what was supposed to be a ham steak- it was 3 1/2 inches across and clearly burnt from the grill, but they served it anyways. What is more we appreciate covid precautions, but since our server was not attentive and hard to find without getting up we had to fend for ourselves for condiments: there was a shelf with dozens of bottle of hot sauce next to our table with no signs on it so I grabbed one for my eggs and another server in an inappropriate voice chastised me and said "just so you know we have to throw that away now." We are all in this together and there isn't room for treating one another that way. When we explained the eggshells to the server and that 4 of the plates had lots of eggshells in them, he replied: "ill just comp that one." It was just very disappointing to be there with family and have the folks there be so clueless and inattentive. Beware, think again if you end up there because the line at the good breakfast places in Silverton have longer waits...not worth it. read more
