We decided to try Lone Oak since it had been two years since we had been there. Husband ordered steak fingers on the Blue Plate Menu for $14.99. They brought out aa plate with TWO steak fingers....looked like a child's plate. The salad that came with it was child sized...it was served on a small bread plate. He complained and was told there should have been THREE but one fell off and the server threw it away and forgot to inform the cook. They would cook another one. My french dip sandwich was on a bun the size of a hot dog bun...had little on it and was not good at all. It came with fries and was also served on a small oval plate...sanchwich, fries and au jus...there was more au jus than food. We will NOT be back! read more

Their omelettes are huge and chock full of meat and veggies, but the reason I drive 45 minutes to this delicious breakfast destination is their Sweet Cream Pancakes!!! When we left Denton, headed north, we wanted to get out of the traffic before we had breakfast, so we plugged this into our GPS. We are glad we did. I would have to agree with the first poster. We also missed Old West and were excited to see a new restaurant utilize that location! I love what they've done to the place; it's spacious, clean, and has a great open floor opposed to what it was before. However I feel people will compare it to Old West, and would be disappointed. I would also agree that the staff is very friendly, attentive and polite. Our food came out accurate and FAST! Although I would agree on the hash browns; they came out a little under cooked, and my English muffin was also under toasted... over time, I'm sure they will correct these small errors. I ate here pre Covid and had nothing to write home about, eggs over cooked Small portion of nursing home potatoes and a piece of ham small enough for a 1/2 sandwich, when I go to a cafe I expect a little more, like real hash browns, eggs without burnt edges and a nice piece of protein and even better the food was cold, probably sat in the window too long they should invest in a heat source for their window to help with that at least. This restaurant is a GEM for Sanger. IMHO they have the best staff and ownership hands down. Their food is always great, and we're always greeted at the front door the second we walk in. We always bring our 15 month old daughter with us for Sunday breakfast and the cook always prepares a plate of fruit when we walk in. We plan on moving soon but we are dead set on coming here every Sunday for as long as we can! In conclusion, Lone Oak Cafe is a genuine small business with great intentions. To give the customer great tasting and amount of food given. Expect friendly wait staff, cooks, and owners. And what better company to keep afloat during this pandemic. read more

This is an early review, they just opened and are still trying to add staff. I am sure they will get better! After "The Olde West" had a falling out with the landlord, this building stayed empty for quite some time. And it left a hole in the Sanger breakfast scene. Now The Lone Oak Cafe is trying to fill that hole. The building has been renovated and spiffed up, and it has almost the same menu. It's a classic Texas cafe breakfast menu. The prices are decent, and the servings generous. The waitress was pleasant, though this did seem like her first food service job. My wife really liked her Denver omelet, and her hash browns were beautifully cooked with lovely browning. I had the biscuit and gravy breakfast with sausage gravy and hash browns. The hash browns weren't browned, which suggests the kitchen is having consistency errors. Mine had a few potato shards that were browned, the rest were seriously underdone. The biscuits and gravy were decent, but I had the feeling that they were fresh off the food service truck. I hope I'm wrong, but I prefer house made biscuits and gravy - they really aren't hard to do and do well - and making your own makes customers happier and improves a diner's bottom line. The only jarring note was the coffee. I'd bet money it was Farmer's Coffee. So many diners use it. So many diners shouldn't. It has little flavor other than a slight burned note. Good coffee does cost more, but with what diners charge per cup, they can afford to serve better coffee. At the end of the review, I have to say that despite the slightly negative note of the review, we liked it and think they'll get their act together. In food service, the distance between a "C" and an "A" isn't that great a distance, you just have to try. We look forward to trying The Lone Oak Cafe again in a few months and updating this review. read more

Our favorite place to eat! We go almost every Saturday for breakfast! We have yet to have a member of the wait staff that isn't incredible. The owner is so involved & so kind! The portions of food are fantastic & we have yet to have anything that we don't love! Not to mention when we come our baby girl is treated like a little queen with fruit brought out to her before her meal. The staff did a great job and the restaurant is very clean. The problem I have is the omelette's went from a 2 or 3 egg with a lot of meat, cheese and extras upon request to a 2 egg with very little meat, cheese. I miss the omelette's of pre-Covid. read more

The food is very fairly priced, the food is good. Real homemade feel. Get the FREAKING PANCAKES!!! Its legit tastes like cake and pancake if that makes sense. I literally had a dream about cakey pancakes and went here and I could have died from happiness. The staff is extremely friendly and kind, being new and one of the only places in Sanger that does breakfast the staff does their best to get the food out to you in a timely manner but you might have to be patient sometimes, which I'm fine with. I'd rather have my food come out in 30 minutes and done right than 15 and it's half assed. read more
