THIS IS A HUGE RAVE TO BABE'S CHICKEN HOUSE IN GRANBURY! On Sunday, March 29, my wife and I went to Babe's Chicken House in Granbury. We were met immediately and seated promptly. Our server was a young lady named Lauren. More on Lauren shortly. This was not our first trip to Babe's Chicken House. But it had been a while, definitely too long, since we were here when we came years ago, we would usually order a chicken each. Now we are in our golden years and we can't eat that much, so we split one. But it was just as delicious as it has been each previous time! The Chicken was fried too absolutely perfection! The golden brown skin was seasoned perfectly and was very crunchy, just the way we like it. And the meat was hot and fork tender, Oh, I still prefer to use My fingers. The sides of green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes and gravy were off the hook! I'm not sure how they cook that corn, but they can come over to my house and cook it anytime! We both drank a sweet tea with lemon, very, very cold and lots of ice! About Lauren: Lauren is a local young lady who has a constant smile on her face. I never saw her not smiling while we were here. I watched her as she engaged in conversation with many people, both employees and customers, and she was an extremely pleasant young woman. But to my wife and I, she was an absolute, unfettered joy! She kept our tea glasses filled, and Make sure that we had plenty of potatoes and gravy, corn, and green beans. She did all of this as well as tending to her other customers I think that she is one of those young ladies who is so personable that she has the gift of making everyone feel as though they are the most important customer to her. I know that is the way that we felt. My wife had ordered some vegetables to go, And had mentioned this to Lauren when we ordered our chicken. We were nearly finished with a meal when Lauren arrived at the perfect time with the "to go order." She remembered when many such servers in the past at other venues Have forgotten. I need to address one other thing that I frequently hear people complain about. Yes, babes does serve instant potatoes. When you feed as many people in a day and in a week or over a holiday weekend, as they do, something has got to give. And by the way, those instant potatoes are absolutely delicious! I don't know what they do to them, but they are incredible! So if that's your own gripe, find something else to gripe about and instead insert some positivity into your review! This was the most pleasant dining experience that I've had in years and it was because the food was good and Lauren's service to my wife and I was even better! The only suggestion would be that Lauren gets paid more! She's clearly not being paid enough! As for Babe's Chicken dinner house, we will be back! Thank you all so much! All good things to report! While visiting a winery in the area, a staff member suggested we try Babe's as they are known for really good chicken. We headed there and had a great time. Our server was Jackson, such a sweet and funny young man. He anticipated all of our needs, gave honest opinions on the menu and was a delight. Food review: Fried catfish 10/10 well seasoned and fried to perfection Smoked chicken 6/10 bland but juicy Corn 7/10 solid, I'm not a fan of creamed corn so... Good comfort food. The chicken is hot and fresh. It has a good taste with a hint of pepper. The mashed potatoes are extremely good. I also got a chance to try the fish and I thought it could have been seasoned a little more. The atm is nice and one of the employees even broke out in song. My husband has been craving fried since we moved to Texas. We found this place in our travels. They were very busy on a Saturday night with lots of families. There was a waitress walking around singing Elvis and Johnny Cash songs. She had a lovely voice. Our waiter explained there were 5 meat choices and they all came with the same sides family style. We both chose the fried chicken dinner. First they brought out biscuits and a "salad". The biscuits were just like my grandmother's. The salad was a bowl of iceberg lettuce with too much dressing. The chicken was fabulous crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, just what we wanted. We each had a breast, thigh, drumstick and a wing. The corn was overcooked and mushy and the green beans were overcooked and floating in bacon grease. All great things must come to an end! We arrived last night to sit by a couple that was complaining that their food wasn't hot enough. We thought they were just one of those that liked to complain. When we got our biscuits, They would not melt the butter that was on the table. The rest of the sides was just barely warm. The star of the show, the fried chicken was clearly "heat lamp" chicken. This place was delicious! I came with my aunt and it was amazing. We ordered one serving of fried chicken and split that and still had leftover. Sides are family style and unlimited. I would definitely recommend bringing a crowd versus two people. There was so much food it was hard to finish. You can bring home the chicken but not the sides. Why oh why are these only found in and around the Dallas area? I'm from Houston and can guarantee we have nothing even comparable in our part of TX. My son and I were driving through Sanger headed back home, when we took a detour for dinner at Babe's. The food is fantastic...all of it! The service was excellent. I drove an hour to get there. It wasn't worth the drive. The ambiance is great just like the other Babe's Chicken Dinner Restaurants. That is where the similarities with the other "Babe's" ends. The fried chicken was tough & too salty, the veggie's were cooked to death. The biscuits were not like any I've had before. If you can't drink all of your $3.00 drink, NO TOGO cups. Then NO Senior Prices, either. They do appreciate Veterans with a discount though. I doubt I'll return to this Babe's, but I may try another, even though it's further to drive. read more

I've heard about this restaurant for years and wondered if it would stand up to the hype. Well it did! We ordered the chicken strip meal. The strips were small but oh so delicious. The singing waitresses had beautiful voices, our server Sophia was friendly, and the restaurant was fun and quirky! The men in my family said chicken was good but the breading was too fried. 3/5 They don't have a menu or online prices so here was the breakdown of our meals: My two sons had the chicken tenders, $18.99 each, and my husband ordered the chicken fried steak $18.99. It said it came with unlimited veggie sides. My "vegetable plate" $10.99. (Wasn't different vegetables than what was brought to the tables for everyone to share.) The salad is just iceberg lettuce with a sweet vinegar oil dressing. Nothing special. I don't eat meat so I had a biscuit with sorghum (yummy),corn, and mashed potatoes and gravy (very good) and green beans. Our family ate regular sized portions since gorging isn't our thing, :) and we had a couple hours drive home. Our leftovers went home with the Texas folks in our group. Some fellow yelpers said throwing away sides instead of letting customers take them is pretty wasteful, but I would think the packaging for all the sides would be just as wasteful. The decors are spot on when we have people from out of town and the reason for the 4 star is no longer byob which I can deal with but the byor has always bugged. Lorena, our waitress, was great! We went when it wasn't busy so she could handle the tables she was waiting on. We told her that my husband and I were celebrating our birthdays. The worst Babe's I've been to. The tables are WAY too close to each other, the guy sitting behind me kept stretching and bumping into me... it has to be a fire hazard. Y'all! This place was so fun for a big group! The family style meal was perfect for a group of 6 adults and 5 kids! We tried all of the meats except the smoked chicken which we should have tried! We were not disappointed by any of it. The catfish had a bit of spice to it but was still good! The fried chicken had a delicious smoky flavor and even had bacon in the breading! If you come here, get their fried chicken! I've been to several other Babe's location around the DFW area and I personally like their fried chicken the best. They have family styled meals where you share side dishes like green beans, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy etc. Their corn is ok, I don't personally like their green beans. Service has always been good the times we have been here. We have only been here in COVID times, all servers wore mask the whole time. Service was good and fast. They have a lot of other dishes like CFS, smoked chicken, fried fish etc. Their fried chicken is better than any other restaurant I've been to so I usually stick to that when I come here. Starting off the staff was polite unfortunately our group was split up between tables. We received salads and biscuits to start which both were tasty the biscuits were great! I ordered the chicken tenders and I thought they were great. However, we also ordered chicken fried steak and catfish which was not that great unfortunately.
