Delicious.Every. Time. Great service! Delicious biscuits! ( love the sorghum)! Wonderful food! The best of the AYCE venues... because I don't have to get up over and over again to fill up my plate! Until next time, Babes!

All good things to report! While visiting a winery in the area, a staff member suggested we try Babe's as they are known for really good chicken. We headed there and had a great time. Our server was Jackson, such a sweet and funny young man. He anticipated all of our needs, gave honest opinions on the menu and was a delight. Food review: Fried catfish 10/10 well seasoned and fried to perfection Smoked chicken 6/10 bland but juicy Corn 7/10 solid, I'm not a fan of creamed corn so... Mashed potatoes 8.5/10 fresh and delicious Green beans 7/10 decent, cooked well Service 12/10 From the door to the table to the cashier, excellent! Bonus: while we were there, two of the servers grabbed a microphone and sang two beautiful songs. They literally sounded like professional musicians, wow!

Good comfort food. The chicken is hot and fresh. It has a good taste with a hint of pepper. The mashed potatoes are extremely good. I also got a chance to try the fish and I thought it could have been seasoned a little more. The atm is nice and one of the employees even broke out in song. Her rendition of LeAnn Rimes's "Blue" was really good. This is an enjoyable place to eat with friendly staff. The manager was also very kind and checked on us a couple of times.

I love fried chicken and Babes have some of the most delicious and crispy fried chicken I've ever eaten. Restaurant this good, of course you can expect to wait a bit for a table but it'll be worth the wait. The decor and vibe of this restaurant is pretty cool. Can't wait to come back for more chicken.

STOP! Everything a true southern girl needs. Biscuits with honey and cane sugar syrup, sweet tea, chicken fried steak, creamy mash potatoes, green beans, and corn....oh wait...dessert...chocolate pie and banana pudding...all while listening to the Oak Ridge Boys - Elvira, a live serenade to Patty Cline's Blue and a little Elvis. Our Texas backroad adventure found us in Sanger and oh what a treat finding Babe's. Here's how it works. You order your meat, fried chicken (an entire 1/2 of a chicken), chicken tenders, chicken fried steak, fried catfish or smoked chicken and then the sides are all served family style and you get them all! As the waitress described the meat..."nothing here is small. The chicken fried steak is the size of my face." It truly was. Homestyle cooking at its finest in a cool atmosphere and great service. Make this trip and enjoy the food coma afterwards!

My husband has been craving fried since we moved to Texas. We found this place in our travels. They were very busy on a Saturday night with lots of families. There was a waitress walking around singing Elvis and Johnny Cash songs. She had a lovely voice. Our waiter explained there were 5 meat choices and they all came with the same sides family style. We both chose the fried chicken dinner. First they brought out biscuits and a "salad". The biscuits were just like my grandmother's. The salad was a bowl of iceberg lettuce with too much dressing. The chicken was fabulous crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, just what we wanted. We each had a breast, thigh, drumstick and a wing. The corn was overcooked and mushy and the green beans were overcooked and floating in bacon grease. Despite this I would come back for the chicken and biscuits and the fun atmosphere and great service.

Great chicken and veggies served family style with excellent biscuits! This is a cool place to eat. The food is excellent at all of their DFW locations! The decor is awesome and a comfortable throwback to lots of cool stuff. The staff are always friendly and the food comes fast! Don't miss Babes's at one of their locations in DFW!

This place was delicious! I came with my aunt and it was amazing. We ordered one serving of fried chicken and split that and still had leftover. Sides are family style and unlimited. I would definitely recommend bringing a crowd versus two people. There was so much food it was hard to finish. You can bring home the chicken but not the sides. The biscuits are incredible, and the mashed potatoes were my favorite side. But the star of the show is the banana pudding. Absolutely delicious and a must try.

Chicken fried steak on top of a pile of fried chicken. Corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy.... And the sides are BOTTOMLESS!!!

I'm not sure how that happens when ordering a combo (I paid $9.31 and the combo was $9.99), but I didn't want to make a fuss since I knew it wasn't the $10.81 with tax (I thought she gave me a student discount or something) and was open to paying whatever difference. I DID chuckle though, thinking, 'they really want this $1.00 and some change,' but I charged it to economy-- and hard times. However, I was told the fries would be an additional $2.59, which is full price. Huh? I attempted to gain understanding, which I'm sure the pressure for the additional money was coming from the man cooking vs. the lady as the messenger, but didn't understand and wasn't paying full price. Fast forward to receiving food, I was told they allowed a 1/2 order of fries since I didn't purchase them. I was done. Chyle... food was terrible. Honey mustard wings were overcooked, tasteless and drowned in sauce. My "free" 1/2 order of fries were cooked too hard for the size. No one in our party was impressed and we felt the food was extremely bland (mind you we ordered a bit of everything). Upon leaving we went straight to Jersey Mike's. This used to be a place we'd frequent if in the area, but it's gone further downhill. It's sad because we love family owned restaurants--but we will not return.

Unique tasting wings. Small, but have a very god original flavor. Must try place in Denton.read more

Our server Daisy was AWESOME! she was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Especially in giving good recommendations when we were between items. We got the pretzel bites to start, which were really good! The salad with blackened salmon on top and I forget what they were called but similar to a "dynamite shrimp" type dish were both really good too! Drinks were also great (my husband got a few different beers all of which he said were nice! He drinks mostly IPA drinks and is super picky so for him to find good beer is saying alot! I had a few different cocktails all of which were super refreshing on the hot day it was) we would recommend anything to eat or drink from there for sure! Good accessibility, and a few photo-op places, too! Staff at both places (Fatburger and the station, where we had to buy one of our drinks from the cooler at Fatburger, because it wasn't their product) were friendly and courteous. Great burger! The XXL (1-lb) was two patties, thick and juicy, good flavor. The meat patty itself didn't have a lot of salt or seasoning on it, which I liked. Just delicious hamburger. I went with the toppings as they come--lettuce, tomato, mayo, relish, mustard, and onion--and it was a good combo with the meat. I don't think I'd do the relish again, though; it added a sweet, aromatic flavor to the burger I don't usually look for. All in all, I think this burger stacks up nicely with a Whataburger. The chicken sandwich wasn't as fat as the burger. Maybe ask for a double meat sandwich? Came with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The kid downed it before I had a chance to ask for a second pic. Both the XXL burger and onion rings were super oily. The burger left a little pool of water and oil in the bottom of the wrapper (see video). Thankful they double wrapped it!! Managed to eat on the road with no problems because of it. The chicken sandwich wasn't as oily. The onion rings left a little pool of oil at the bottom of their paper container, too. Oh! They also have two kinds of spice sauces, I think for the breakfast burritos, but I enjoyed them with my onion rings. Good flavor on both. Red (more tomato-y, not spicy at all) and green (nicely spicy, fresh pepper flavor, not a crazy burn, lingers and dissipates nicely). Kinda pricey, at about $33 for all that, but I've got caloric fuel for the rest of the day, now! Thankful for this location and the friendly faces helping out here! God bless y'all!

I ordered the red velvet waffle with bourbon cream cheese and vanilla drizzle, plus three lemon pepper wings with sweet honey sauce. Let's start with the waffle. It was just okay for me. It didn't really give "red velvet" flavor like I expected. However, that bourbon cream cheese? 10/10. Easily the best part of the meal. Smooth, flavorful, and it definitely elevated the waffle more than the waffle did itself. Now the wings. They were jumbo wings (which I don't normally go for), and they were almost a burnt crispy and hard to pull apart. I ordered lemon pepper with sweet honey sauce, but I didn't receive the sweet honey sauce. As someone from the South who takes chicken seriously, I was hoping for bold lemon pepper flavor throughout. Unfortunately, most of the seasoning seemed to stay on the outside, and the actual chicken inside was very bland. I'm a big chicken fan, so it was disappointing that I couldn't even finish them. Overall, I was really looking forward to trying this place, but based on this experience, it just wasn't for me. This is only my personal opinion and experience and I was disappointed and wasted money.

I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.
