Great food, cooked once you order. It has a new new now, but still friendly and yummy food

Soooo disappointed. We saw the strong ratings and menu photos posted and had expectations of a wide selection of burgers and toppings - maybe ownership has changed? Menu is limited and quality control is lacking. Good news is the burgers were thick but thoroughly cooked and still moist. Waffle-cut sweet potato fries were overdone for the delicate structure and onion rings were burned beyond edible. Not worth leaving the highway. read more

As any avid motorcycle rider knows, two of the reasons we ride are burgers and pie. On my recent New Year's Eve ride, instead of blowing through Valley View as usual, I did a quick tour of the town square and saw York N Ale Burgers in one corner. It looks like the kind of place that could have good burgers. A quick Yelp check confirmed others have liked it, so I stopped. Casual but nice interior that makes you feel like you're in a small town that's not 100 yards from an interstate highway. Friendly service from a guy who was also manning the bar. As tempting as the pizza and wings on the menu were, I stuck with my burger-focus and ordered a cheeseburger and fries. The time it took for the food to come out was that amount of time that makes you think "this is how long it would have taken me to cook a burger" not the "this place is setup to make burgers really fast and cheap". So just about right. The burger was juicy and tasty. The fries were good as well. Overall, York N Ale has earned a spot on our places to ride and get burgers list. Will definitely be back. read more

This is a total gem in an area with not a lot of great options. From the location, to the owners & staff, to the burgers! Probably one of the best burgers I've ever eaten! Their burgers & their fries are SO delicious. A must visit every time we're in the area. read more

SO over salted. Whatever the seasoning used on the fries and the burgers was overwhelming. The burger looked good, but couldn't even begin to taste it for the seasoning. Love to see local business do well. I absolutely hate wasting my time to type a review. About ten days ago, I called in an order, then when to pick it up. When I arrived two Costumers were sitting in the dining area. No staff anywhere to be found and kitchen door standing open. After waiting at the register I called out,,,, no answer!!! So I looked into the kitchen, and found one teenage girl sitting on the stainless prep table with her feet on the table, staring at her phone. She had no idea that the world was turning!!!! When I got her attention she said I don't work here!!!! they're all out back. She finally wh and got someone and they came in. I still had to wait for my order. No adults anywhere???? This evening I made a second attempt. I called in my order, waited 30 min. When to pick up my order. Waited on the train, drove around the train, got my order. I had ask for a different sauce and for extra sauce. When I paid I seen they had charged extra for the sauces, so I didn't check the bag since it was all packed. Drove back around the train. ( the train is certainly not their fault) I finally get home looking forward to dinner, open the bag and there is one very small container half filled with tartar,,,,nothing else that I had been charged extra for. And the hush puppies are burn black on the outside. I called and spoke to the same person who took my order and told her what the problem was and that I was very disappointed. She says. We've been going to York n Ale since they opened, but last Friday night was a complete disaster. There were 3 of us. The first meal (chicken basket) came out and had strips that were thin and more like chicken jerky. The second meal came out 15 minutes later and immediately you could smell burnt chicken. We immediately flagged waitstaff and showed her the black spots on the sliver of a chicken sandwich. The chef ( owner ?) came out and asked why we sent it back, he said it wasn't burnt and he'd have to change his fryer temp because everything is timed. What a poor excuse for a restaurant. I'm a trained chef and his oblivious understanding of what is acceptable and what is not. We never got the 3 meal and left. Never to return! read more

The burgers are really good, tater tots are spot on. Food is good, it's worth a visit. The soda machine was out so drink choices were water, tea, or beer. It's a bit disjointed - you order off a menu stapled to a paper bag, then pay the cashier, you're given an order number, they bring the order to your table. I am so bummed. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars after seeing all of the great reviews but I can't. Food tasted 5 star but service wasn't. First of all, there is not an adult in sight working there- it's all teenagers. Kind of weird considering they serve beer but that is beside the point. We ordered to go with only 2 people ahead of us that had either ordered ahead or to go. We only ordered a burger and fish basket which shouldn't have taken long. We waited for 30-40 min. One of the Togo guys had waited so long that he asked for a free beer and got one. Ironically enough, one of the other guys who had a Togo order had also ordered a fish basket and we overheard a waitress say they had accidentally thrown his order away. We are guessing he got our fish basket. When we finally got our order and got home to eat it, my grilled onions and grilled mushrooms I had paid for were not on the burger. And my mom didn't get the sauce she had asked for. A big disappointment. read more

Found this on Yelp. We stopped, knew we were in the right place when we walked in. The place was full of real men ( working guys, no suits)! We had a Double Burger with mushrooms, grilled onions, bacon and avocado slices. Glad we halved it! Each burger was over one inch thick. Onion rings were standard, but the burger was off the chain! read more
