The best pizza. Period. The owner makes the crust, he makes the sauce and he makes his Italian sausage. You need to try it. The best mozzarella sticks. He hand breads real mozzarella. You should try those too. This week I will try the burgers and fries. I'm sure they will be good too. read more

If your from the local area you may not get the same feel for the place but for me , I enjoy it enough to plan a stop here on my bike rides . Docs offers more than I expected for a "bar and Grill." It's really more of a German deli style restaurant- and a good one at that. I had a Reuben sandwich At the recommendation of our waitress. She said it was one of the best Reubens she ever had. I agree. Best Reuben I have had outside of NYC. Homemade sauerkraut on their pumpernickel caraway rye with a generous serving of pastrami with their house made mustard made this a delicious meal. Huge wedge of carrot cake was easily a serving for two. Their cakes are made by a former employee at her home. They are stellar. Carrot cake was loaded with carrots, Raisins and walnuts and topped with a super rich cream cheese icing. Don't leave Docs without a piece of cake. read more

Food was amazing! Very loud! Small dining room area. I got the Tex Mex burger - delicious! It has grilled peppers & onions, avocado & pepper jack cheese with the sourdough bun. The bun was wonderful! Just the right amount of spicy. The burger was cooked well done. We weren't asked how we would like it cooked. It would have been better if it was cooked medium. The sweet potato fries were average. My husband had the Doc's special burger. It was delicious & fries were crispy & well seasoned- just right. Shiner Bock draft beer was ice cold and fresh. I was very disappointed. This is usually a highlight of any trip to Muenster. I ordered fried pickles and a chicken fried steak with fries and beets. The fried pickles were really spicy. Too spicy to be enjoyed. They have always been really good in the past. The chicken fried was mostly a hollow shell of the breading and a pretty small cutlet. Pretty skimpy on the gravy too. Again totally different from past experiences. The beets were good! Fries were ok. I'm glad I asked for them extra well done or they would have been raw. Bummer. What was most disheartening was the staff. There were a few people milling around the bar who were staff or family of staff. They were very loud and I personally thought they were drunk. My partner did not. They started watching a video on a phone that was really loud-we could hear it over everything else. It was about some guy wanting to $&@! his girlfriend and fairly explicit in the comments of getting hard, sticking it in, etc. Not at all what I want to hear when I'm paying good money for a meal. Up shot: food wasn't up to their usual standard and the staff were pretty crass. Total disappointment. read more

The staff was just lovely. Very much in the holiday spirit. The we started off with the fried onion and jalapeños. They were very good. We then shared a sausage platter with spicy mustard which we picked the broccoli and cheese soup, mashed potatoes and it came with a side salad. My husband was hunting for a phone number to a company in Muenster and happened to find this jewel. We planned a trip to try it out on Saturday afternoon. We arrived around 3. They were not swamped but they were active. As soon as you enter there is a quaint little bar and maybe 10 or so tables. Our waitress immediately got our drink order and gave us some menus. We explained how we found this place and that we were looking forward to trying it. So first up we ordered a sample appetizer with fried green tomatoes, chips and salsa, Texas toothpicks (onion and jalapeños), and fried mushrooms. It was delivered with ranch, jalapeño ranch, chipotle ranch and marinara. The jalapeño ranch( all of which are made in house) was the star! I asked our waitress which was better between the Philly and the Rueben. She doesn't like kraut so she said the Philly. I went with the rueben because I do like kraut (also made in house). It was outstanding. The rye bread was the freshest and softest rye I have ever had any where. It was the best rueben I have ever had. I will try the Philly next time. I chose pickled beets as my side. They were on point. Like grandma used to can. I also tried the tomatoe jalapeño soup and was not a fan. It was just not for me. The guys both had chicken fried steak. One had pickled beats with German potatoes and the other had corn with German potatoes. Hubs gave me a bite of the potatoes and they were tasty. I also decided to try both of the desserts for the day. Coconut cream cobbler and strawberry cake. Both homemade. A lot of place claim the dressers is homemade but really it is out of a box and a let down. This coconut cream pie was straight homemade. Light fluffy crust with a delicious cream and just the right toast on the coconut. The strawberry cake was so moist and the icing was like a sour cream icing. It was outstanding! After we left I was telling my mom about this little jewel and she laughed and told me that is where my stepdad was born!! Crazy. Apparently this place, built in the 1920's was Muenster's first hospital!!! read more

We drive through Muenster to get to Turtle Hill Golf Course. We have eaten at several of the restaurants there, but it took some golfing buddies (of my husband's) to show us Doc's. Yes, it's on Main Street, but we hardly ever use Main St. to get to the course. We will now. . . The Schnitzel dinner was unbelievably good. Ours was the breaded pork cutlet with grilled onions and gravy. It came with rye bread, and we chose pickled beets and fried okra for sides. That's quite a bit of food for $12. There was a birthday at our table, so we finished up with Italian Cream Cake. SO GOOD! Thanks to Lizzie, our food was delivered hot, our drinks kept coming, and the conversation was entertaining! Great hang out for a Friday night. After a day of wine tasting causal and laid back is what we needed and what we got- treated just like the locals. Sat in the biergarten, mostly served by Morgan :) Beers were cold, ruben and Muenster Melt were both excellent, and the TX Rangers actually won a game. 2nd and final visit. Great history on the building but thats it. Plenty of flies to go around in the corner by the window. My Muenster melt came out cold on stale bread after a 20 minute wait. The wife's salad came without the dressing she ordered. My grandsons meal was short his side (hard to miss a side when the entree is just a corn dog), which was nothing more than Kraft Mac & Cheese. They had no cold mugs left for draft beer and the bottled beer temp was barely average. The two stars are for the cool building. NOT impressed. read more

Docs is a favorite of mine- on the corner of Hwy 82 and Main in Muenster this is a convenient, neighborhood bar and grill. It offers great burgers on sourdough buns as well as Schnitzel. But the true standout here is the home made cakes! Strawberry, German Choclate, Italian Cream cheese, Carrot, and Red Velvet- had them all- get there early to claim your piece as when they run out- it is truly your loss!! read more

I was recommended to try out Doc's after finding out the original place I was going to eat at would be closed. It's an hour or more from where I live, and I was looking for a good hometown joint to eat at to go for a ride to with a couple friends. Man. This place was well worth it! I had a Southwest Chicken Sandwich, and it was excellent! I was asked if I wanted their pretzel bread. Why not? Turned out to be a worthy choice. It was good enough that I'll definitely be back, and I may have trouble wanting to try anything else. And the fries were very good as well! I don't really usually consider how the fries are, but I was surprised. And to boot, any of the staff that we encountered were all nice and helpful. Food was quick and good. No complaint. At all. My husband rode his motorcycle here one weekend and had lunch here, so I had him take me here too. This is in Muenster, a cute little German town. This is a small place with a patio in the very back, a biergarten. We shared a rueben sandwich and some cheese fries. It was good. We both had tap water, and they charged us $1. lol! read more

Just passing through on a motorcycle trip. This place is GREAT! I had the Reuben, which was the best Rueben i've ever had! It's like a corned-beef steak rather than thin slices...oh my it's good. Also, the Texas toothpicks (onion and jalapeño slices, battered and fried). Awesome. The batter is light and crispy and delicious. Wow. My husband and I stopped here on a motorcycle trip (the scenic route!) between DFW and Winstar Casino in OK. He got the Reuben, and I had the broccoli cheese soup and grilled cheese. What a nice find. A cool little bar hidden away in a cool little town. Beer garden in the back, comfy bar in the front. The menu has a lot of good choices, and the sausage on a bun I had was great. We have been here multiple times! We love this place! All of the food is fantastic and friendly service!

We dropped $72 at this place for lunch (3 people). No drinks, no dessert. The chicken fried steak was awful. The german sausage and kraut plate was meh (no flavor to the brats and sauerkraut that is waaay too sour). Mac and Cheese was Kraft from a box! And it was warmed up probably from the previous day. My hubs and I decided to go on motorcycle ride with our friends. We traveled from Plano to Pilot Point, through Sanger and into Muenster. We were starved and stopped by Docs . It was packed because of the beautiful day. Lots of bikers out. The food was so delicious. Our waitress was a doll. She was a little overworked due to being short staffed. She was excellent, though.
