Traveling through and thought home cooking would be good. Absolutely awful. The chicken fried steak was so grisly you had to saw and saw to get a bite. Once you started chewing you had to spit it out because it would not break down. The cornbread was burnt and the Mac and cheese was like wall paper paste. WORST SERVICE EVER. Didn't catch the name of the 'server' (and I use that term lightly), but the big, tall blonde girl should not be in the food service industry. Never received our meal. She didn't notice because she was too busy meandering around with nothing to do but chat with her buddies in the corner by the kitchen. She didn't notice our empty drinks or our food that never came out. We sat for an hour waiting before deciding to leave. SHE DID NOT CARE ONE BIT about her her customers. She didn't check on us. She didn't refill our drinks. She never came back to the table once she took our order. She ran up to us as we were standing in line at the register to pay for our drinks and the salads that another waitress brought to our table, and made some kind of lame-o excuse about our ticket being lost and she had no idea where it went. Do you think an actual server might notice their customer has no food? Or that their drinks were empty? Maybe??? Here's a thought...Maybe she could've asked the cooks??? - OR -Maybe she could've done her job and CHECKED ON US??? JUST ONCE?! I previously gave this place 5 stars. Because of this experience, I take my 5 stars back and give them 1, and they are lucky there isn't an option for a zero rating. I'm SO angry!!! I have to say we were a group of six who were disappointed in our meals. My husband loves chicken fried steak. My daughter boyfriend also ordered chicken fried steak. The steaks were spoilt. The meat was green/gray. My husband discretely told our waitress that the meat was spoilt. She offered to replace it and he declined. Next we have what we assume is a manager come and tell my husband that the steak is fine it just tastes that way because it is soaked in buttermilk. My husband explained he knows when meat is spoiled. She dropped of a piece of German chocolate cake that was probably close to a week old "on the house". He didn't eat it either. They spilt ranch all over the boyfriends steak. I ordered the jalapeño grilled pork chop. It was tough as boot leather. Thankfully the potatoes (instant) were edible. The 4 layer chocolate cake was chocolate pudding with whipped cream on a pie crust that wasn't edible. The mandarin orange cake was decent. The pinto beans had absolutely no seasoning at all. After paying $120 bucks we will pass on this place when we come back to Gainesville. read more

Me and my mom were passing through Gainesville and we were dying of hunger. We looked on yelp and saw Wolf Den and thought we would give it a try. I got the chicken tenders and they were perfectly cooked and very crispy on the outside so it had a nice crunch. The prices are very good and the employees are very kind and they bring the food out very quickly. If you are looking for a lot of food they have the wolfden challenge which has 5 chicken fried steaks and some other stuff and if you eat it within the time limit it is free and if not it is only $35 which is a really good price if you are eating with a few people. They have special sides depending on the day you go there. When we went they had black eyed peas and Mac and cheese. The plate was much larger than I needed and portions were huge. This easily could have been 2 meals for me even after a busy day and being very hungry. The service was very quick. We ordered and had our food within less than 15 minutes, fresh made to order for three. Before our food arrived our waiter had checked on us 2 times just to make sure we were ok. I guess I was a little confused on their cheeseburgers, even though it's clearly written on the menu I couldn't decide on what I wanted, everyone in my party had ordered so I hurriedly ordered "just a regular cheeseburger, Mayo no mustard", expecting cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles...the whole normal toppings. What I got was some type of white cheese- it wasn't Swiss - mustard, tomatoes and lettuce. Which it was fine, just not my favorite choice of toppings.
