You know the place you go to that is SO good, you have to write home about it. Well, this place is NOT it. If you've even been following me, I am not a fan of 1 star reviews unless it is deserved. (we were talked into it... because everything on the menu was in the bar)... the salad lettuce looked so good, offered few salad toppings/veggies. When I sat down to eat the salad, it was as if I picked it from the garden myself. A mouthful of dirty lettuce. The coleslaw looks pretty too, but was bland. So many things were dried out! I thought the enchiladas was a dried up sweet potato casserole. All the meats were dried, the Mac n cheese was so dry it looked like uncooked noodles. The things that were decent: green beans and banana pudding. Worth going to get another plate, catfish and ribs. Margarine instead of butter. The honey packets are bricks And for a catfish place, there is no vinegar Or Tabasco... is this even the south? It's a buffet and it's cheap, running about $10 per person. Let's get that out of the way. And because of that reason, this is my dad's favorite place on earth. I've been coming here for like 15 years (maybe more) and I've had really great food memories here and terrible ones. Overall, this place is a staple in our lives. It's a 3 star place, but I'll find you and hunt you down if you don't visit here at least once. The good: The service is actually really good for a buffet. If you're lucky enough to have Theo (I think that's his name) you'll be well taken care of! The catfish, of course, is definitely the best item on the buffet. The catfish strips are smaller and because of that it's usually crispy and perfectly fried. Pretty much most of the fried things are done well so your best bet is stick with those items (fried oysters and okra). I also really like the green tomato relish and the fact you can get your own lemon wedges, tartar sauce/cocktail sauce. The meh: The ribs are always somewhere between ultra tender and hard as a rock for some reason. The veggies (green beans, mash potatoes) look like they were made the day before but always end up tasting pretty decent. And for another weird reason there has always been this enchilada casserole on the line too. I have no idea why. It's god awful. Super dry, sitting there all torn up, begging for some kind of sauce. And for some reason I always get it, thinking that today will be the day that it'll be different. Nope, still weird tasting. But you can bet I'll get it again the next time my dad wants me to feel bloated for 3 days. Once when I was a kid I saw a lady use her finger to scoop out all of the cobbler from the serving spoon and put it back in the cobbler. I've never been the same since. read more

While visiting Gainesville Texas to cross into Oklahoma to go to Windstar World Casino over the weekend our choices were limited outside of the casino for dining on a Sunday. We decided to give Catfish Louise's a try. The service was fast! Unfortunately, the food wasn't cooked long enough. The fries were still raw potatoes, hush puppies were soft in the center and the cole slaw had no taste at all. My catfish was questionable and so was my wife's seafood plate 3x3. So I guess we should've turned around and walked back out when we were greeted and asked if we wanted the buffet or a menu. So my advice to anyone visiting the area if you're looking for fast food that is food fast then go to Catfish Louise's. We entered the restaurant and seat by 7:09 pm had all of our food by 7:15 and out the door by 7:35. No joke! read more

The fried fish was not fresh at all and was hard and chewy. We were also overcharged when checking out. We will never go back. I can't believe this place gets any business. What an excellent find on our way home from Oklahoma!! The service was very fast and friendly. The shrimp and catfish are excellent with a crispy batter that is seasoned perfectly. The salad was very fresh, and the cole slaw was delicious. The hush puppies and fries were yummy, and you get large portions for an excellent price. We will definitely be back!! read more

I took notes though - most of the reviews aren't against CATFISH. It was for other crap like bbq. This is a place where you can either get the all day buffet or order off the menu. I'll tell you now: Just do the buffet. It's super cheap and it's got CATFISH on it, all you can eat. Two dinner buffets and drinks with a tip was $25. The CATFISH was stellar. See what I'm doing there with CATFISH? Nev and Max are way too into each other on CATFISH. I pity the fool who uses my picture to CATFISH someone. See? I'm doing that for a reason. It's not called Louie's BBQ. ITS CALLED CATFISH LOUIE'S BECAUSE THE CATFISH IS STELLAR. While the pieces are small, it's a buffet. Take it all! It's lightly breaded and cooked just right. Everything else on that buffet is either meh or "is that a vegetable or leftover tuna? Both?" but it's a good deal. You get as much CATFISH as you want and even get some damn tasty ice cream and cobbler for dessert. Is it clean? As much as can be expected from a place that still gives away free meals for defensive driving. So don't say you weren't warned. Don't get CATFISHED. Me and the wife to a road trip and ended up here. We both greatly enjoyed everything we ate. I really enjoyed the catfish (tarter sauce was great) and the smoked ribs. The pinto beans and cole slaw went well together. And we liked the corn on the cob. They had 3 different sausages. Hot link, smoked sausage, and jalapeno cheddar sausage. Ok. Where todo I start with this food adventure? Let's start with the serving line. I have no idea how wilted lettuce got on top of the serving trays. That question is the just the start. The corn looked delicious but was immersed in what appears to be be pure butter, or more likely margarine. The bacon and green beans were decent. The catfish itself was good. What was not good was the hygiene. The serving tongs were so greasy I had to wash my hands twice before eating. The servers were filling food containers with no gloves and filthy fingernails. The place was simply dirty. I would be very afraid to see what the kitchen looks like after seeing the dirty bathroom and dirty food line. No going back. Not even on a dare. I don't dare to submit myself to unknown diseases and food poisoning. Not going to happen again. I hope I do not get sick today. Only time and Yelp will tell. read more

We stopped for seafood on the way through traveling from West Texas. It was well worth the stop. The food was great with all the sides being fresh and homemade. The fish and shrimp was delicious. 4.5 stars this is the ultimate country buffet. Crispy fried catfish, bbq ribs, tender brisket, sausage, ham, chicken and fried shrimp-those are from the best to the 'okay'. (the loss of the 1/2 star was because of the fried shrimp- it was overcooked. The chicken was average. The sides are fresh crispy salad, green tomato relish, numerous peppers, the typical pea and potato salads and cole slaw. Standouts include the perfectly cooked and seasoned pinto beans and the hot homemade cobblers-your choice of cherry, apple and peach. Nothing was bad and you won't leave hungry. Our total bill for lunch was $22.00 for 2 adults and one senior-2 sweet teas and one water. Yesterday was our last visit to Louies buffet. The restaurant was hot, flies in the dining room and the food quality lacking.

I know this isn't the best place but I love the green tomato relish pintos and the non fried meat options salad with coleslaw and pea salad ranch and tomatoes very nice. I have never had a problem with the food I get most times service is better than 5 star locations. read more

It was OK. I got the senior special lunch (2PM to 4PM) for $5.99, and that included a drink! Catfish not all that great, but I'm thinking the smaller pieces come out for the senior buffet. Good sweet Lord - I'm not sure where all those other glowing reviews came from, but if it was from THIS place - someone hates us! Pea salad was....edible. Fried fish - well, it likely WAS fresh about 2, because by the time we got there at 9 this evening, it was ready to be called hardtack!! I have NEVER seen a buffet line where the food was allowed to sit and dry out so badly! The sausage was just barely edible. And, yes - we DID ask for fresher catfish. It WAS edible - but nothing I'd ever call anything but "edible". And the banana pudding......okay, there WERE some slices of banana's, and some vanilla wafers mixed into what I'm pretty sure was the cheapest banana pudding they could find. Let's start off with the five STARS! I love this place, all you can eat and then some of everything you can possibly want that comes out of a frying pan (or deep fat fryer) or a BBQ smoker. PLUS, don't forget the large selections of vegetables including my favorite corn-on-the-cob and green beans. Are you stuffed yet? Don't want to forget about the dinner rolls not to mention the cinnamon rolls dripping with lots and lots of creamy icing. Should have left off the cinnamon rolls until I got to the deserts, speaking of which there was apple cobbler, peach cobbler, and cherry cobbler, not to mention the banana pudding all of which you can dispense all the soft serve ice cream on the top of that you can possible consume at this point. Left out the salads since I don't eat much of that. More or less self-serve if you go the buffet rout, however the wait staff is always there if you need your drinks refiled and if you or ordering off the menu.
