My mom and I ate here on 3-25-26 11:00 am (i failed to add a review) We met a friend who lives in the area. The inside is nice. It's a county style setting/diner type and was very clean. Restroom was clean. We had one of the lunch specials. Meatloaf, cabbage, mash potatoes and I can't remember the other vegetable. It also came with peach cobbler. And 3 teas. Service was great and the food was excellent. I'm pretty picky about meatloaf but it was really good. It did need a little more juice topping. I kinda like my meatloaf a little more moist but that's me. The flavor was really good. Everything was good. The price was great for the amount of food. Mom and I also purchased their homemade fried pies. I bought Apricot and Cherry with crème. We took those home. They were both awesome. We live over an hour away but I would return for lunch or dinner!! read more

Ate here twice while in the area. Breakfast was great! Pricing is phenomenal for the amount of food they serve. Everyone in our party really enjoyed their meals & we had lots of leftovers. Supper was mostly good. Husband had an omelette and he said it was great. My brother and I had the chicken fried steak dinner. I have to say that I was pretty disappointed in the steak. The meat was gristly, clumpy and tasteless, brother agreed. The breading and gravy were excellent. The fries were also good. The side salad was lacking also. The service both times was great. The restaurant is gorgeous inside. We have family in the area and will definitely return, just not for the chicken fried steak. read more

First let's talk about restaurant. Upon entering the location, there were multiple empty tables with only 2 people who have been seated; this should had been our first clue. Not only was there bug zapper in the corner over a table most tables looked as if they haven't been clean in the past week. When seated our table in question should not be located in its current position and it was wobbly. Consensus with section1 Own. Owner/management need to learn better restaurant maintenance. Section 2. After being seated we were greeted by an employee who had no regard for her self worth. We attempted to order onion rings,mozzarella's sticks and jalapeños poppers we were than told we couldn't have onion rings due to being out(THIS WILL BE IMPORTANT LATER). We all received our sweet teas with due regard and it was tasty. However, this said waitress was too lazy to do her job and fill up our sweet teas while only managing 1 other table. She brought us only 1 pitcher of sweet teas which only filled 1 and half glass of tea upon receiving our appetizer all were soggy except the onion rings which we did not receive as we were told they were out of. 2 members of our party than received there salads which consisted of the core of the lettuce and 1 tomato and cheese. All members of this party order chicken fried steak with either fries or okra. Upon receiving said meals 2 out of the 4 were incorrect. Sides of okra and fries were misplaced with fries being soggy and okra not fully cooked. When our waitress was approached about the mishap she informed us that she would fix the issue and retrieved the owner of the establishment. Section 3. When the owner arrived at our table she came with such anger that I believe will turn away any normal customer. When I confronted said owner with the evidence that a party who had received there food after us had in fact received onion rings even though we had been told they no longer had any. The owner then stated that she had talked to us during our order stating that we were incorrect, lying to us all. The owner had not spoken to us before this time and the staff was only standing behind the bar not doing their job. The owner then continued to talk to us in an aggressive manner insinuating that we had lied to her. We just continued to the eat our food that was overcooked and soggy. The owner never attempted to correct the issue of the onion rings. Lying to a customer and obviously taking precedent to other people who she obviously knew as she continued to stay at the table talking to the individual. While we were finishing our subpar meal we noticed that the employees that were waiting the tables continued to speak to one another and the owner pointing and referencing our table. When we went to check out the owner then still would not attempt to correct the multiple issues that had been presented to her with irrefutable evidence that she was wrong and had lied to us. This is an establishment that is considered a "Mom and Pop" shop. We wanted to support a smaller business but did not think we would get this kind of service from such an establishment. When attending a business like this it is supposed to be a better experience. The food was subpar, the staff seemed untrained and lazy, while the owner would not accept her establishments mistakes and offer a remedy for it. I would not recommend this location to anyone who is thinking of it or going through this town. There is a gas station or even a chicken express just down the road that would provide a better customer experience and food than this establishment. read more

This restaurant was amazing. Let me tell you our story. So we have 2 Cain corsos one is 5 months old and our other is 5 years. Both of them are the same hight. We had asked somebody inside if we could dine out on the patio or inside, whatever they are comfortable with. And they allowed us to dine inside with our puppies. We were very appreciative of it and thanked everyone for letting us in and eat there. The food was even better to. My family got all different items and they were delicious. Last time they served us burnt food this time it was cold The pancakes are dry. The staff is very friendly and nice they need uniforms though The tall dude in the back I guess the cook seems eragant and dirty looking - get an appron or a chefs coats or a real chef not a cook. Stop the cluter now behind the bar nobody wants to see all those bottles and crap piled up in the fridge looks awful when you sit at the bar. Tv"s why? they are never turned on. Fire place why? its never on fire. The fire place is a big asset to this restaurant make it cozy with nice leather chairs around it for the coffee drinkers. Restaurant needs help good luck because the lake goers from Dallas will only stop once. Curious to see if they even care about there reviews. Just seems LAZY to me. read more

Let's break this up into three sections. Starting with food, we ordered the sampler platter and it consisted of four frozen onion rings, two frozen stuffed jalapeños, two frozen soggy cheese sticks, and like four soggy chicken strips. Everything seems to have come from a freezer bag and then reheated. I ordered the chicken strip dinner before we got the sampler or I would have changed my mind. The same thing with the dinner, the salad that came with it was just lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. The baked potato was okay, no salt, butter, sour cream, or cheese. Chicken strips were not edible. My fiancé had a cheeseburger that he said was not great and tasted like freezer burnt onions. Overall the food was maybe 2 stars. Onto service, they were nice enough. Service was slower than expected for everything coming out looking the way it did and how empty the restaurant was. The server kept forgetting to bring us what we wanted (check, refills, To-go box). Lastly, ambiance and cleanliness was 0 stars. I would not go in there again based on cleanliness alone. There were flies everywhere, it was hard to eat anything because we were constantly swatting them away. There was a bug zapper right above a table behind us, and at one point a dead fly fell on our table. The sauces appeared to be refilled and not rotated out, and the honey mustard was bad. 0/10 recommend, if there was an option for 0 stars that would be what it is. read more

Update: We'll, they've done it. Marked improvement in wait-time and service. The food has always been very good, but lately the operations have smoothed out significantly. There is a real team-work ethic among the owner and servers. Customers are obviously pleased, including us. So happy for the owner of this establishment. The food is real home cooking. If you want fast food go to one of the local nasty chains. The interior is rustic but very clean. The staff are knowledgeable and actually engage with the customers. Family friendly. The owner works right along with the staff. read more

Since the arsonist burned them down in January, I have been anxiously awaiting their reopening. I have not been disappointed. Friday is fish and shrimp special at lunch. Fish is cooked perfectly,homemade pinto beans and coleslaw are great. Fries are good but I prefer a crisper potato. Banana pudding is canned but they add Bananas and vanilla wafers taste is almost as good as homemade. Breakfast is GREAT. Large selection and plenty of food. Homemade hamburger patties make the hamburger excellent. If you like chicken gizzards or liver and onions this is the place to go. I have never had a bad meal here. read more

They just reopened and we wanted to them give another try. Prior to the fire, the food was so-so and it still is. Homestyle burger patty was not seasoned and the mustard so thick it was gagging. Fried chicken breast was huge, but after getting passed the crust, no flavor. Pinto beans had no flavor and was served lukewarm. Mashed potatoes were real, but also needed salt. The peach cobbler was good, but I'm pretty sure it was bought and not made on site. Parking lot was full and we had heard good things, but still disappointed. Service was fairly fast. I'm new to the area and saw all the trunks parked in front of Poor Boys, the lot was packed. I decided to have first breakfast out in my new neighborhood, so went in and ordered my favorite, Chicken fried steak, with eggs, biscuits and gravy and instead of hash browns I spent the extra money for the home fries. The chicken fried steak was tough and stringy and the home fries weren't what I expected, they were small cubes of potato's with some onion and not a lot of flavor. I always give a place a couple of chances, so I'll try em one more time. read more

They had a rough start but are doing very well, like most businesses nowadays they've had trouble hiring people. Now they seem to have found some good employees. They have even been able to extend their hours for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The food is good old home cooking country food.
