First time in Texas. Went there for my nieces wedding. My sister & bro-in-law just built a house around the corner from this place. I wondered what a country breakfast was like and it was not disappointing. Had the chicken fried steak, biscuit, and gravy. We got pies to go = yum!

Last time they served us burnt food this time it was cold The pancakes are dry. The staff is very friendly and nice they need uniforms though The tall dude in the back I guess the cook seems eragant and dirty looking - get an appron or a chefs coats or a real chef not a cook. Stop the cluter now behind the bar nobody wants to see all those bottles and crap piled up in the fridge looks awful when you sit at the bar. Tv"s why? they are never turned on. Fire place why? its never on fire. The fire place is a big asset to this restaurant make it cozy with nice leather chairs around it for the coffee drinkers. Restaurant needs help good luck because the lake goers from Dallas will only stop once. Curious to see if they even care about there reviews. Just seems LAZY to me.

Great place for breakfast, and the portion size is amazing for lunch and dinner. Large, clean dining area.

Best breakfast around. Love the biscuits and gravy. Crowded in the morning but worth the wait. Friendly waitstaff and reasonable prices.

I am so happy that I found the Magnolia Cafe in Durant, Oklahoma! This is the best run cafe I have…read morebeen to in a long time! The manager, Chris stays right up front and is a real hands on style manager. He makes sure that the customers are well taken care of by the wait staff( who are all friendly and knowledgeable as well as hard working). The decor is attractive and spotlessly maintained. The kitchen staff gets the food out very promptly and the bacon, eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy were all cooked and seasoned to perfection! Everything was so good that I drove through a flooding deluge of rain and lightning to eat there the next morning! Chris remembered me(after only one visit) and greeted me by name! I will definitely be eating here on every trip I make to Durant!

She seems like the type of person that smiles and laughs easy. I really enjoyed her as a server. Next up, coffee. I drink mine black so it has to be good. It was! It tasted like they brewed it fresh just for me in that moment. I suspect they are cleaning their pots regularly so the burnt taste doesn't carry over like in some of the large chain breakfast restaraunts. Breakfast was good, I had the Mexican omelette and the salsa was really good! I forgot to take a picture before I cut it all up, but it was a good size and I got full before I could make it to my hashbrowns and pancake

My last experience I ordered a rib eye. OMG. I was served a piece of grizzle. I had a sharp knife that couldn't cut through it. I needed a chain saw. I was done with that steak. Any one star chef could tell this wasn't to eat. It was strictly for the garbage. They brought a better piece. I was exhausted. I really think they changed chefs and got 'a want to be' with no experience. This person came out to retrieve my sorry piece of fat and grizzle he served me and had absolutely nothing to say. No apologies at all even though I almost choked to death. The chips and pace salsa are good.

We were really wanting a good steak; didn't want to drive to Sherman or Gainesville with storms coming, so thought we would try again. What they got right. Blue Cheese dressing was good and thick and the salad large for a dinner salad. Seasoning on the rib eye steaks were very good and they were cooked to medium for me and medium rare for my husband. The cheesy potatoes were pretty good and husband's baked potato was fine (hard to screw up a baked potato). What was wrong. 1) Green beans tasted literally like they had been dumped out of a can and some commercial bacon bits thrown in and this is after we asked was there bacon in them. We expected real bacon, not bacon bits. No other seasonings could be tasted. 2) Rib Eye Steaks: My rib eye was ok, a little tough and gristly - I could eat it with a lot of chewing. Husband's was nothing but fat and gristle (see photo) - over a 1/3 was left on the plate because it was not edible. It is obvious that the steak is not a prime grade, but commercial grade or less. 3) We were also surprised that no rolls, toast or any type of bread was served with our meal. Their response was "we only serve with the BBQ". Guess this is an area where they cut back. I find it very hard to recommend this place for anything, especially with our first experience with the BBQ being so bad and now with the expensive steaks.
