The food here is typically very good but we got meals (to go) on Sunday, July 12. The sliced brisket was dry, dry, dry and the chicken tenders & fried okra was burnt, burnt, burnt. And the Calf Fries weren't available as they'd not been "prepped". Needless to say, we won't be back. The girls/ladies working there were very nice/friendly thou. read more

I remember Mr. Clark when he opened this restaurant years ago! It was the best bbq in the Dallas Fort Worth area. He was such a kind and grateful person thanking you for coming in to eat at his establishment! After he was gone it went down hill from that point. I went and tried it after the new owners opened. It was no where as good as he would have agreed to. I'm sorry the owners think it is anywhere as good now but I'm sure they will find out over time! Rib End Appetizer, well honestly, most of them were hard and dry and hard to eat. The Salad was the best thing on the table. The ranch dressing is really good. The Chips were mostly stuck together. Service: well that needs some work. We had to repeat our entire order several times like more than 4 to be accurate. We asked for two plates 3 times so we could share a salad and got these little bitty appetizer plates to mix a salad on. The waitress didn't bring us plates when we asked for them, then she comes and ask us while we are still eating food still on the plate " Can I take away any of your plates"? Seriously? Our order was quite simple. A side salad with extra ranch, rib ends, the queso, and baked potato with extra sour cream, butter, bacon and chopped beef, with two extra plates so we could share the items. We had to repeat that 4 times. The service needs some training! This was my first time there and I probably won't be back! It was not that busy at 6:00 in the afternoon, there was dirty booth when we walked in and it stayed dirty the entire time, we were there and there were several employees walking around. We closed our bill out at 6:30 on 5/20/26 and let me tell you It takes a lot of frustration for me not to tip any good server anything less than 20% this day I did, I just could not justify tipping 20 % or more. I have been on that side I know tips is how they make a living, so it might be very beneficial for their servers to have some training. read more

So many good reviews and we couldn't wait to get some. I wonder if we just came at a bad time, or just had a server in a bad mood, or the kitchen was not ready for people closer to closing time. Our BBQ was dry, little portions, but the drinks were good. We had to remind our server about the drinks twice and forgot our appetizer until we were about to leave. They did package it up for us, but didn;t think to comp it. At that point we didn't want it. Again...it was just our experience, the first impression wasn't so great. Have driven past here several dozen times, never a good time to stop. Until today, I picked up a selection of meats to bring home. Unfortunately it didn't last long enough for pictures. It's a small restaurant, rustic, old and charming. The staff super friendly and helpful. I got sliced brisket 1/2 chicken Jalapeño sausage The brisket was done perfectly, moist, juicy with a nice crust. You've got plenty of good choices for barbeque in Texas, but we look forward to the opportunity to enjoy Clark's Outpost Bar-B-Q in Tioga, Tx. We bought meat to go, since we wanted to enjoy their sliced brisket, pulled pork and sausage over a few days on our road trip. I don't know if buying meat for $7.50 to $8.00 per half pound was much more cost effective than ordering a plate or sandwich, but it worked well for us to use it in picnic outings over a few days. We had the choice of having it packed warm, if eating it soon or packed cold for later. Pickles were included as well as well as a cup of sauce. The meat didn't need any sauce, but it's alright to have a little on the side. We enjoyed all three delicious selections, but glad we didn't try to make a sandwich with the sausage, since the casing was a little on the chewy side. Anyway, big thumbs up for Clark's Outpost in Tioga and we hope to be back soon! read more

After a great lunch the day before, the family returned on a Saturday night for dinner. I decided to try the two meat plate only to find there were only four small pieces of each meat type. We hadn't been back to Clark's since their big fire. This new place next to where their old restaurant was is smaller but the bbq is still excellent. Since we were on our way to the Lake didn't want to eat inside (also for Covid reasons) so ordered 3-1/2lb meats to go. We could get them cold or hot. We got sliced brisket hot, sausage & pulled pork cold. They were wrapped up in foil and she included a small container with pickles & 2 of bbq sauce when I asked. All the meats were delicous and hit the spot. They had jalapino/cheese sausage but she said it was pretty hot the regular was wonderful. Can't wait to stop there next time we are up by Tiago again. read more

Great improvement in the ribs since my last visit. Very tender and just the right amount of smoke. Fried corn on the cob was great as usual. Green beans were very tasteful. Clark's has been around for a long, long time. When I moved to Texas back in 2000, I waited almost a year to try Texas BBQ because I was told I would go up to Tioga, TX just to go to this place. Years ago, when I went, the place looked like several smaller buildings slapped together, but inside there was history everywhere you looked. I've been told by many that the food was different even before 2000 when I got here, but since I hadn't had any Texas BBQ to that point, I had no other frame of reference. As for the food back then? Fried corn on the cob with squared nails for holders? Brisket? Ribs? Warm bottles of BBQ sauce in old Grolsh bottles? All of it was great then. Fast forward to 2019... Over the years, I went many more times prior to Clark's burning down. My daughter lives seven miles from there now in neighboring Collinsville and so prior to Thanksgiving in 2019, I got the opportunity to try it again, and see the place since it reopened. Oh, it is different and clean. There is still scattered memorabilia, the squared nails in the corn, jars of sauce to purchase along with t-shirts and warm bottles on the tables, but everything is brand spankin' new. As for the food? I was still happy to enjoy a brisket sandwich and my kiddo, for whatever reason, likes lamb fries. If you don't know what they are... Google it. I will say, I did try one, and they weren't half bad. Yes, now that the DFW area has become much more foodie-centric, there are many more BBQ places everywhere you look and many more that are award winning. Shoot, during the week that I was there, I ate at three distinctively different BBQ spots (including Clark's) and had three equally great experiences. Anywhere you go in Texas, you're bound to stumble on amazing BBQ. And if and when I head up to Tioga to pick up the kiddo, I'm sure if she asks, we'll be back at Clark's. Enjoy. read more

I stopped in here on a bike ride and was surprised by how good the food was. The service was very friendly and accommodating and the food was really delicious. The atmosphere was cute ; a small town country cafe feel . I first visited Clark's way back in the nineties, at least one burndown ago, and I remember it much more fondly. It's more of a sit down restaurant now that serves BBQ, rather than a "BBQ joint" per se now, and it's not quite as good as the old days. The scenic country drive was what brought us here, and hoping for some of that good meat that I remembered. Unfortunately, the meat was a mixed bag. The Polish sausage was fairly decent, but the brisket had parts that were OK, and others that were downright inedible. It was clear that the meat had been cooked in a smoker that used gas in addition to wood, and we could definitely "taste the heat" (and not in a good way). Fortunately, there were some better dishes on our table. We started with the cleverly named classic, calf fries. I've had these before, and these were a decent example of the dish, but not great. They had too much batter, but were served with a nice country gravy. A cup of chili was served literally in a coffee cup, and was a fairly good cuppa. It featured a lot of shredded beef, but needed more cumin, chili powder etc. I made adjustments with Cholula, onions, cheese, and ketchup, and the result was the best protein of the meal. The best dish overall was probably the deep fried corn on the cob, which was hot and juicy, with a nice crisp on the outside. We capped off the meal with bread pudding and rum sauce, which was an above average dish. Bottom line, I was disappointed, but the drive was nice. read more

My first visit will also be my last visit. BBQ was good but nothing amazing. However the service was terrible. My husband picked up the BBQ Sauce bottle and it exploded ALL OVER HIM! He was coated in BBQ sauce with a bug puddle on the table. I alerted the waitress who apologized profusely saying "we keep the bottles in warm water and these are new bottles that are made of un-tempered glass. Clearly they are not meant for that." My husband was left sitting there while she took his plate to remake his food. I waited for her to return, but finally had to ask for towels to clean up the mess. They brought him a t-shirt at least. I had to ask 3 separate times for my potato salad that was forgotten. Accidents happen, and realize that she was probably overwhelmed with everything but what happened next is what really ticked me off. My mother in law ordered a piece of chocolate pie to go. The waitress had the nerve to come back to our table after my MIL received the pie and tell us that she was going to need the pie back! It was the last piece and was already spoken for. I was stunned! After everything exploded sauce bottle without any compensation or discount for my husband's ruined Polo shirt my elderly mother in law had to give up her pie. They are extremely fortunate that no one was injured by exploding glass at our table from their own negligence of using a un tempered glass bottle that was under heated pressure. I am appalled and angry. read more

A couple of months ago, I decided to revisit Clark's. This is the first time I've been to the new building after the old one burned down. I went specifically for the chocolate meringue pie, which I remembered as being amazing. The server informed me that they had sold their last piece hours earlier. This was the middle of the afternoon, so that's running out pretty quick. She also told me that they had no pies of any kind because the person that made them had quit or retired. Fair enough, so I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and baked beans. The pork was a little dry and had a really funky taste. I got a BBQ shower when I shook up the bottle of sauce because it was missing its original Grolsch gasket. The sauce made the meat edible. I was a little worried I might get sick from the weird meat but never did. The beans were ok but not any different than what I get from a can. Zero smoke flavor on anything. Best part of the whole meal was the toasted bun. Oh yeah, EIGHT BUCKS FOR PORK THE SIZE OF A MCDONALD'S REGULAR HAMBURGER PATTY! I know BBQ is expensive, but come on. The main reason they are getting any stars is for the service. The server was friendly and I got my food in good time. read more

During a long weekend, girls only trip, we had a group of 12 women passed through and eat lunch here on our way home. The restaurant was very accommodating and had our table ready for all 12 of us when we arrived. The food was wonderful and the prices were great. I ordered 2 rib dinners and pecan cobbler. The ribs were mainly full of "fat". Barbecue beans had juice all outside of container and some inside bag. I didn't receive pecan cobbler that cost 6 bucks. Very disappointed in the quality taste and service today. I would most definitely recommend going somewhere else for better bar b que! Also I highly suggest to management to make sure all to go orders are not just " thrown" in bag without confirming all items ordered are in bag before handing to customers. If staff doesn't do their job then maybe they should find another job! Customers are the reason why businesses are open but if you serve " slop" you most definitely will loose business! We love this place. We used to come talk to Mr Clark back in the day in the old buildings. Mr. James is running the show now and has been for years as well. We still love the brisket with sauce and onions! Yes indeed. Mighty fine. After the new building went up, the large menu was trimmed a little. They kept most everything. First I know Covid has changed things and have been very forgiving as far as service and food quality being 90% is to go. However this might have been the worse we've had since all this crap has happened. Pulled up to the window to pick up the order we had called in prior. The guy working window said it was almost ready should be less than 5 minutes, if we could pull over to the side so we paid and did so. 30 minutes later we walked back to the window which the kid was just sitting. Asked him and oh crap I'll bring it right out. Bring out the food and we check quick, notice the potato salad is hot. Mention Thai to him and he just looked at us and slowly backed away...ok ‍. Everything in the bag that should have been hot is barely warm and everything that should be cold is hot. Wilted salad and warm ranch was gross lol Our baked potato wasn't fully cooked and still hard until he middle. I will say the cheddar balls were really good and the BBQ had good flavor even tho it was cold. Sadly most likely will not be back even tho we live supporting local businesses. read more
