Having dips available is perfect to give a little more pizzazz to each bite. My boys DOWNED their meals! This joint has definitely become my number 1 local spot for the "I need a burger STAT" type of cravings. I believe the gentleman that took our order is the owner and he was awesome. Definitely one of the best, if not the best, restaurant burgers I've tasted. "Who's in the kitchen" was the conversation at the table because it tasted like we were in someone's home. Everything was made to order and tasted extremely fresh (coming from someone who has worked in a beef plant). Great quality of beef. Perfectly roasted jalapeño's. Evenly dispersed condiments (which is not as common as one would think). Every bite was balanced. From the pictures I thought the fries were basic, they were not lol cooked to perfection. Extremely nice staff. May be family owned. Made you feel like family when you come in. Everyone the left seemed to be a regular. We drove to Pilot Point to see the Union Pacific Railroad steam locomotive roll through town and make a short stop. Big Boy is humongous and is certainly something you need to see. Fortunately, we arrived early and stopped at Powerhouse Burgers before the train's arrival time. I love small towns in Texas and small, family owned businesses. Pilot Point is growing, like most towns in North Texas but Powerhouse Burgers is still super charming and serves up a short menu of great food. The menu looks limited, but they will build you a burger with any combinations you desire. We wanted a bacon cheeseburger with grilled mushrooms & onion and bleu cheese. Sorry, but my phone lost the pic of this delicious entre. I couldn't have asked for it to be any better. The burger patty was crispy around the edges but still juicy enough to require multiple napkins. It's not on the menu, but they added a side of onion straws because we had to try them. They're like onion rings, but with thinner slices of onion and much more difficult to make. The onion straws were really good, too. My phone also lost a picture of a creative way to keep the kids busy while waiting for the food to arrive. Every booth has a rack on the wall that holds a box of colored chalk and an old tray for a canvas. Ours had a leftover drawing of a hamburger for us to enjoy. I really appreciated their use of an old pontoon boat for outdoor dining. They put 2 picnic tables on the deck and built a ramp to get up there. It was too hot to take advantage of it, so I hope they'll add a canopy in the future. Business was slow (around 2pm) so we had time to talk story with the owner and his mama. We had a great time sharing railroad info and learning about their town and business. We'll certainly be back to see them again. read more

The way I found this place was by smell! A few friends and I were coming through the area to go horseback riding and as we walked around we smelled something delicious. We decided to look for it and found this little gem! It is such a hidden place but so amazing! We walked in, small place with outdoor seating as well. The other night, I felt like getting a good burger somewhere. I have tried most places around us and not found the one great go to yet. While looking on the net for a hole in the wall place near us, I saw Powerhouse Burgers. Small town restaurants are my favorite. It's easy to pass by being in a small space attached to a building in Pilot Point, so keep watch at night. The mom and son were at the counter and so nice. I was happy with the Texas Bbq burger, though I would switch the breading to a bun and make sure you get the powerhouse sauce to drizzle on it. They also have some delicious fries. It's delicious!! Super easy to miss. It's right next to a barber off the square. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger and loved it! I had a plain cheeseburger AND IT WAS WONDERFUL!! Their sauces/dips are the best I've ever had....EVER!! horseradish something was ridiculous!! Jalapeño ranch had some serious bite and tasted so very fresh. What a great find this place is! Small mom and pop burger place. It has an old pontoon boat outside for eating but too hot to do that in August. Greeted like old friends entering. Has a wide choice of burgers but if you want anything custom made they can do it was wanting a mushroom burger & didn't see it on the menu clerk said we have a monster mushroom burger it's a specialty sounded good to me had read they have onion straws so added those & she said get a drink(serve yourself) and it'll be a combo & cheaper sounded good to me. While we waited one of the owners came over and chatted and it felt like we were old friends. Burger was delicous juicy and had mushrooms & caramelized onions. The onion straws were a little greasy but after dipping them in thousand island dressing(came with meal) I wouldn't have changed a thing. Every booth had a tin tray with chalk for the kids(or adults) to draw on while they waited. If we drive up this way again I know we will stop here. This is the best down home burger I have had in forever. The flat top must be 50 years old to get that good of a crust on the patty. Wow! I was surprised that this place existed! We were told to try it and to be honest, I was nervous. On the way there, we were looking for it and if your not watching, you will miss it.
