Combo (half chicken sandwich & quiche)
Ellie D.

What a cute shop/restaurant! The restaurant is located at the back of the shop and the whole set up is really fun. The menu is a bit limited but the quality of what we got leads me to believe that they do their few items very, very well. What we got: Combo - half a sandwich (chicken sandwich) & quiche - 5* all around. It was delicious and filling. The quiche crust was homemade and phenomenal.

Hank with his delicious hand pies!

Lovejoy's on Main is a great place to visit. I took my Oregon relatives to grab desserts on the way to the airport. Our party of 7 tried and shared 7 different treats. Among the decadent desserts sampled were carrot cake, German chocolate cake, brownie sundae, and chess pie. ALL were yummy! This place can't be beat. The owner, Hank, talented dessert- maker and a legendary good guy in Whitesboro! He alone is worth the visit! Addison, grandson and soda jerk, has an amazing personality and handled our orders with ease! Everything about this place is great!

Spinach strawberries salad chicken salad on croissant and of course carrot cake. I definitely will be back.

The food was awesome, fast and great service, during the Peanut festival at that. The servers and cooks did a fantastic job on serving the huge amount of people. You all worked like a well oiled machine.

Tomato Bisque, GF chicken sandwich, potato chips with a pickle wedge.

Whitesboro, Texas is hometown Americana! Lovejoy's from the outside looks like a gift shop, but in the back it opens up to a wonderful warm inviting cafe with an old fashioned soda fountain. I happened to go during Thanksgiving weekend so the menu was limited but the food was great. I had a tomato bisque with chicken salad. I was informed that they had gluten free rolls so I chose a sandwich which was overflowing with chicken salad. Everything was delicious including the peach mango iced tea. My waitress was absolutely awesome but I confess I am partial because I gave birth to her, but I watched her with other customers as she helped them with choices and asked how they enjoyed their food. She makes her Mama proud. All the staff was very friendly and after my lunch my daughter pointed out a few things in the gift shop that my granddaughter's had their eyes on, so I did a little shopping as well. I was surprised how busy they were on the Saturday after Thanksgiving but my daughter explained they had a shop local day going on. Each of the stores on Main Street had a small gift for everyone who walked in their store as well as sales going on. Downtown Whitesboro was hopping with shoppers. I love the small towns in Texas they remind me of a time back in the 50's when life was simple and I love that they continue to keep the atmosphere to attract people.

Fell in love with the beautiful mugs

Saw a post on FB about 1836 Cafe, so my DIL & I decided on a breakfast roadtrip... what a wonderful…read moredecision. 1836 Cafe is everything you imagine if the words "hole in a wall greasy spoon" are used. Small interior offering 4 tables and a line up of bar stools. The kitchen and pantry are fully exposed. We were greeted by a gent opening the door for us and friendly hellos! The menu provides a wide selection of country fair with twists on cosmopolitan selections (the country bennie is a must). No pre-cut fries on site,! Everything looked and tastes freshly prepared. Will definitely make the trek again!

1836 Café in Bells, TX is a true hidden gem and worth every stop. From the moment I walked up to…read morethe door, the smell alone let me know I was in for something special. Inside, the atmosphere is small-town comfort at its best -- casual, welcoming, and the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home. I ordered the Chicken Bennie, and it was absolutely outstanding. A homemade biscuit served as the base, soft and fluffy on the inside with just the right touch of crisp on the outside. On top of that came perfectly fried chicken tenders, a runny egg that tied everything together, and a generous pour of rich, savory sausage gravy. It all came with a side of crispy fried potatoes that were cooked just right -- golden and flavorful without being greasy. Every bite was pure comfort food perfection. The coffee was smooth and satisfying, the kind that pairs perfectly with a hearty breakfast. Service was excellent as well -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell the staff really cares about their customers and their food. Overall, 1836 Café is exactly what you hope to find in a small-town spot: great food, great people, and an atmosphere that keeps you wanting to come back. I'll definitely be returning, and I highly recommend it to anyone passing through or nearby.
