Food is always awesome! Service is always great. Ambiance could be a little brighter.

Had to give this place a try and stopped in for lunch. Had a large pink lemonade and ordered the chicken fried chicken with Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries along with a house salad. The lettuce from the house salad was not the best and one when I ate one of the tomatoes it had a horrible taste to it. Crust form the chicken fried chicken fell off, all the sides were partially cold and too top it off I found a life form in my drink. I politely asked for replacement drink and the waitress brought over a fresh glass but did not bother to remove the napkin with the life form on it from the table. Which in the end I thru in the towel and did not enjoy this meal. So if you are passing thru Bowie, TX and see this place on the hwy I would suggest going next door and buying some snacks from the gas station and head down the horizon until you find somewhere else better to eat read more

This place is great. I am a fan of the patty melt. Ask them to grill the onions a little extra. My kids love the 6 oz steak. Yes! We normally get the same server. She is the best! Always on top of getting us what we need which is normally just more drink refills. So ask for Shelby. read more

We always travel with a 1 ton dually truck and trailer so we have to find places with parking. They did have parking for a truck and trailer. We were seated immediately, however the food took a while to come out. The food was good. My husband had the 12 ounce ribeye with a baked potato and side salad. I had a chili cheeseburger and fries. The prices are reasonable. It has a rustic Texas atmosphere. There is also a cute western gift shop, gas station and convenience store attached to the restaurant. In spite of what I read in other reviews it isn't IN the Exxon station, it's beside it. Cozy Texas ambiance and big yummy Texas comfort food! Home made (not frozen) chicken fried steak & gravy, really good sweet potato fries. Friendly service. All in all a great stop for a traveling meal. My only complaint.... We have been coming here for years. We never know what the food quality will be when we walk in. We won't be back. The final straw...my husband ordered a club sandwich and they forgot to put in the turkey and ham. On the same visit, my grandson's pancakes were black on one side. Found it on Yelp, not a biiiiiiig fan of gas station Resturants but this didn't disappoint at all, well maybe one thing. The server Amylee recommended the chicken Fried Steak, so I followed her lead. The food was great and the staff very friendly. They were constantly filling our coffee cups and the food was served hot.

I don't even know how to start this but I went in and got a brisket plate with the potato salad and cowboy beans. The brisket and tater salad was what you would expect from a truck stop not bad... but the beans they smelled like farts (not ver professional but I don't know how else to describe them) didn't taste to bad but they gave me food poisoning for the next three days. The only reason I haven't rated it lower was due to the ambience and service just my experience it was and will always be my last. read more

We were told it had just been made that morning but turns out it was the special from the day before and they ran out after we ordered it. They were out of several things (ribeye steaks and baked potatoes), but my fiends and I managed to make due with the rest of the menu. The meat wasn't chewy, it didn't have all that nasty fat you gotta chew through, the meat was certainly some of the best meat I've had in a "cheesesteak". The green pepper in there was fresh and crunchy - just like it oughta be. The beer battered fries are a definite win: presentation aside they are really good fries. True Southern Hospitality, from the time we walked in until the time we left,the customer service was great! This place has a little bit of everything. The building sits in the same parking lot as a gas station and between the restaurant and the gas station, there's a western clothing store. I know that sounds weird, but it really works and it's nice to look around while your waiting on your table. The restaurant itself is worth the drive. The menu is full of good southern cooking. They serve breakfast all day and the coffee is great. I had the huevos rancheros and my daughter had the patty melt, both really good.
