What a trip down memory lane! When you walk in you are met with an old soda fountain bar with charming stools and the most gorgeous brass ornate cash register. Every inch of the historic building is packed with antiques and curiosities. They serve soda fountain drinks in a mason jar like Dr Pepper with vanilla syrup or cherry limeades. They also serve bluebell ice team in floats or banana splits. We had the stew and it as amazing as any grandma stew out there. The chef salad was packed with vegetables and as fresh as ever. It is truly a place to stop if you are in the area and the customer service is the highest quality top notch! If you're looking for a quiet little private book they have those too tucked away all over the shop! So interesting your eye never gets bored.

The best patty melt and veggie stew! I crave it. A very unique dining experience. You are surrounded by antiques, which I find amusing to look at. Drinks are served in old mason jars which I find quaint. The menu reminds me of a tea room. I am always full and happy when I leave.

Great food and atmosphere. Chicken Salad sandwich was delicious. Prices are reasonable for what you get. And you can browse after you eat. If you're passing through Bowie at mealtime, give this place a shot

Always Good! Under staffed, so a busy time may result in slower service, but the food never disappoints.

We had made arrangements with our brother, mother, and auntie to go here for lunch. They've been open just under three months now. Technically this a fusion restaurant as within these very walls is also The Scoop Shack and its owner Kyle. Leslie is the propreitor of Pecan Street Cafe. I had the #3 Hoagie with substituted sourdough bread instead of the all-white brioche bun, which consisted of a wagyu 100% beef patty topped with locally smoked and sourced all-beef brisket. A specially paired side of BBQ sauce was provided. I didn't find it necessary to use as I had ate most of the meat already before realizing the sauce was on my dish. I also had a salad with ranch dressing. For beverage I had fresh brewed coffee with half n half. Definitely will be back, would order again! My mother had #4 Burger on homemade Brioche Bun with a side of fries and for a drink Dublin Cream Soda. She said it was Delicious. My brother had the #8 Sandwich which is Sliced Ribeye Steak with sauteed onions, mushrooms, and jack cheese on a bun. We were talking about Phillies and this what they suggested from their menu. For his side he took a small salad and ranch dressing. He also enjoyed a very refreshing unsweet tea. My brother tried to describe it as good and I said use another word, he then said it was savory. My sister had the #6 Burger with sauteed onion and mushrooms, and jack cheese. She also had a side salad with Ranch, and a Sweet Tea. You can't break some people of their habits and upon pressuring my sister for an alternative to good she went with "really good". My auntie had a hamburger with no modifications, except for all the vegetables which she had delivered on the side. She enjoyed mac and cheese for her side option, and for the cold drink she went with a Diet Coke. Good is a good word but over-used so when my auntie tried to describe it as good, I asked for another word and I got scrumptous. They decorum is very clean, and I want to say "old cottage" feeling. I like it. There are plenty of icecreams, and baked good to be had and while I did not partake, my aunt bought a cheese cake for her and mom to share. I think they enjoyed as they were very chatting while consuming it. The walls of store are lined with various keto goods, and odd knick knacks all for sale that vibe with the restaurant but do not take away from it. For example Cowboy Candy caught my eye, as it was a type siracha based sugar treat of heat. Also catching my eye were the honey spoons. My mothers eye was caught on the Bob's Red Mill bread mixes.

My coworkers and I prefer to find local eateries whenever possible. For lunch one day, we searched out The Woolf Den, decided that we could all be happy with something on their extensive menu, and had a surprisingly delicious meal here. I got the French Dip sandwich, which can be risky. A lot of times French Dips are dry and boring with a side of jus to moisten it up. Here at Woolf Den the sandwich would have been divine on its own...the jus was just the icing on the cake! The sandwich was closer to a Philly cheesesteak--thinly-sliced, griddled steak, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and gooey melted cheese on a hoagie roll. The jus was flavorful. When I was done dipping my sandwich, I had half a mind to drink the remaining jus...it was that good! However, I'm a civilized human being, so I just dipped everything I could find into it...crackers, mainly. So good! I think I'll dream about that sandwich. My coworkers got the club sandwich and the Philly cheesesteak. Both really enjoyed everything they had. The women behind the counter were sweet, too. It's nice to be greeted when you walk through the door. They also offered good recommendations. I don't think you can go wrong at this place. I'd love to go back and try more of the menu, but I don't know if I'll get the chance. If you need to take food to go, all meals are served in styrofoam boxes. You can also call in orders and pick them up. This seems like a very convenient option in these parts. All in all, I'd definitely go back. I'm actually bummed that I've got to leave tomorrow and most likely won't get the chance.

Beyond the cleanliness, the atmosphere is warm and exceptionally welcoming. The staff is genuinely friendly, and the owners go out of their way to ensure every guest feels truly taken care of. It is rare to find a place that balances such professional upkeep with a personal, "home-away-from-home" feel. Highly recommended for anyone in the area looking for a quality experience. The food is great. The plates are small ( which is fine ) but it would have been nice to have a bit of room to cut up my food , and I'd add a second side to anything that's not a sandwich, but even with just one side ( steaks get two ) you don't leave hungry. ( extra sides are 4 a piece) The only other suggestion is a basket of homemade bread would be perfect for this establishment . It's a southern food , steaks and gravy type place. A basket of bread would make it perfect . Great place though . We would go out of our way to stop again.

A Total Jackpot for Foodies and History Buffs Alike!…read more Just a bit off the main square in Decatur sits an absolute treasure that completely blew us away. We happened upon The Whistle Stop quite by accident, and it instantly became one of our favorite finds. The location itself is pure Americana gold. It sits right next to the iconic, 1930s-era Petrified Wood Gas Station--a stunning roadside marvel covered entirely in mineralized stone. Standing there, you can practically feel the history. It's legendary as a spot where Bonnie and Clyde allegedly laid low, and it even caught the eye of Hollywood when Michael Bay directed Faith Hill's sweeping "There You'll Be" music video for the movie Pearl Harbor right on the property. But as spectacular as the local lore is, the kitchen matches it note for note. The Whistle Stop is a beloved local favorite for a reason, serving up phenomenal, honest comfort food. Brian went with a classic BLT, and it was perfect--crispy, smoky bacon, perfectly fresh lettuce, and ripe tomatoes on toasted bread that hit every single nostalgic note you want from a diner staple. I opted for the gorgeous grilled chicken salad, which was a knockout. The chicken was wonderfully seasoned, exceptionally juicy, and served over a bed of incredibly crisp, vibrant greens. It is rare to find a spot where legendary American history meets truly excellent, fresh, everyday cooking. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a fan of classic road trips, or just someone looking for a spectacular lunch, this place is an absolute must-visit. We were thrilled by our lucky discovery, and we will definitely be making a point to come back!
