I absolutely adore this place! The staff and service is excellent and the food is wonderful, the steak finger basket being my favorite. The hamburgers are huge and taste just like they did back in the day. It has a small town feel that I love and regulars come in and shoot the breeze just like the old days. I drive to Bowie from Fort Worth regularly and I eat here every time. It feels great to eat here as it's calming and free of the stress filled rat race. read more

I will start off with saying how awesome the service is. We had a young gentleman take our order. He even brought it outside for us to our table. Food is typical for a DQ. I wish they had cheese curds. The tables inside were very clean. The outside tables were quite dirty. There is parking in the back. Only a few spots along the street. The desserts are amazing here. I used to like ordering from here. Until one day there was found deep fried hair in my jalitos. I didn't complain because I saw the entire crew wasn't wearing hair nets. That was about find months ago. Mom and sis sent me to get a couple of orders and I was going to order a hunger buster butt decided against it. Guess why? No one is wearing a hair net! Not even the two cooks. I don't want a hunger hair buster. I hope my mom and sis get a mess of hair in their orders so they stop ordering from this place that thinks it is above food service regulations. No idea how the pass the inspections, has to be corruption and bribes. I'll change my review if they start wearing hair nets. I worked in food service and those nets really work. read more

Let's start this review with some basic fundamentals. It's a Dairy Queen. At least at one point in time, this was considered one of the top DQ's in the country... and head to head w/ most other DQ's I've ever been to... this is remains at the very top! It's one of the most popular places in a small town, so yes... everyone seems to know each other. Whenever I stop in here, the service is always quick and friendly even if they don't know me. However, this place moves at a small town pace... so just relax and wait a minute :) The food here is always on point! This seems to be one of the only places they can actually get the steak finger basket correct... that means flavor! The food may take a few extra minutes when you go in and sit down, but that's because it's fresh and made to order. If you want good food come in here... if you just want fast, well, you can just go next door. We know that DQ's are franchises, and you can often tell the quality of the restaurant by it's cleanliness. This place is always very clean, and they are quick to buss your tables when you leave! While I'm a big fan of the dip cone, you can't go wrong with the blizzards! I may be childish, but I love that they still turn them upside down when they serve them to you! The fact they come in "mini" is a huge help for my waistline too! I will admit I read the other reviews, and it seems they have had some employee problems in the past. However, I can attest I have never had any of those issues here! If you are looking for a "Texas Stop Sign", I do recommend this over the McChains. 4 Solid Stars! read more

I love Dairy Queen. There was a sign by where we ordered that said they were short staffed so it might take a little while to get served. I appreciated that they told us that. We really didn't have to wait that long. Dairy Queen is never that fast so I doubt I would have thought anything about the wait. My hamburger and fries were good. My fries were warm not hot. They still tasted good. My burger was hot and I liked it. My husband had the steak fingers. I tasted them. They were excellent. They were really tender and flavorful and well cooked. I wish I had gotten those. I will next time. The staff was friendly but I could tell they were a little overwhelmed. They did a great job though. The restaurant was older so a little dated. There were some cool old pictures that I looked at while we waited. I love old places. read more

This is quintessential small town Texas Dairy Queen. Sweet friendly charming staff. The kind of kids who paint their fingernails maroon for football season to support their school. This DQ is decorated With old black and white newspaper articles commemorating State Championship wins. They made a custom hot fudge caramel malt (special order!) no problem! And an orange dreamsicle shake (again, custom order, no problem!). This is worth the slight detour (3 minutes) off the highway to downtown Bowie, Texas. read more

They never could seem to get simple orders right whenever I stopped here, also it's a Dairy Queen, as much as the nostalgia may be special for some, they're just rundown poorly managed and maintained diners that are often times nasty af, this one isn't too bad, trust me I've seen absolutely terrible DQ's especially in west Texas. They're a bit charming, but unless they've gotten someone who knows how to push a broom or use a mop and a rag then I wouldn't suggest eating here for the lack of basic sanitation. read more

This is obviously a local favorite! Everyone was kind of gathering like at a small church, lots of cowboy hats! lots of chatter. The drive thru was backed up, so I went inside. The bathroom was clean . The cashier was very kind . I ordered my husband a chili dog with no onions and a bacon burger with onion rings for myself. The cashier requested my name and I sat down. Several elderly ladies were going round to tables and checking on their friends. It was kind of sweet. After about 7 minutes, my name was called . I asked the cashier to check my husbands dog. She confirmed it had no onions. My onion rings were crunchy and delicious. The bacon burger had good flavor but the top bun was kind of hard? I would definitely eat her again, hopefully with a softer bun! read more

If your on the highway like I was, keep driving. Food took forever to come out and looked absolutely nothing like the pics on the menu. The only reason I gave it more than one star is because it's more of a local diner and there were menu items that aren't in regular Dairy Queen's. read more

Last night I went up and picked up food for friends. One ordered 2 cups of nacho cheese. After returning with the food there was no nacho cheese! Hold on it gets better. My friend calls Dairy Queen and tells them. They write her name down so she can get it later. Tonight I return with a second order. I mention the cheese. They pull the ticket. They advise they will make sure she gets it. On my order tonight I ordered 2 large nachos with other items. I return with the food and guess what? No two cups of nacho cheese, and no two large nachos to boot! Folks I'd like to say a bunch here about people and their competency but what would that do? Does not deserve any stars....RUDE!!My family was excited to eat at DQ. We left disappointed and upset. The young lady taking orders at the drive thru was impatient and rude. We were the only car at the drive thru and you would think that we were bothering her. My boyfriend drove off and we went to Sonic where the cashier was very pleasant. We've held off on going here because of previous reviews, but decided to give it a shot today. Quite impressed. Service was great. Food was yummy. You can tell they have a lot of regulars. Store was clean. Took a little while for our food, but I won't complain because it was hot and fresh, and we weren't in any rush. Overall, we will be back. read more

No Problems or complaint to mention. My wife and i stopped in for a quick bite. And received prompt polite service. The food was hot and delicious. I even had an ice cream that was nothing short of perfect the place was clean, quiet and orderly. Plenty of parking. Well lit interior. So yeah I had a very nice visit. 1 star cause it's dairy queen and I know they are better than this place. Location is easy in and out. Inside dirty. Walk up to counter literally never got acknowledged by the counter lady for 15 minutes with only 1 other person at the counter which was waiting as well. FINALLY the drive-thru lady came over took our order. I ordered the grilled chicken combo meal the meal came out at a good rate. The drink station is not all in one spot so had no clue they even had unsweetened ice tea. The grilled chicken sandwich had a piece of chicken so small that it literally did not even take up half the bun, my friend actually laughed and stated a silver dollar was bigger than that piece of chicken, they should have put two pieces on the sandwich if the one piece was that small but not wanting to wait another 15 minutes just to get acknowledged I ate the infant size chicken.., (they should have let the chicken grow up). We decided we wanted blizzards for the road and the lady over blended them, instead of spoons she should have given us straws. No wonder she didn't flip the blizzard upside down like they normally do with the blizzard, it would have poured out of the cup. Skip this Dairy Queen if you need Ice cream wait until another exit. I know everyone needs a job but that lady behind the counter is in the wrong job, she was SLOW AND UNRESPONSIVE. Horrible place and bad reflection of Dairy Queen. read more
