Huge old downtown building, all wood, smells like spilled booze and ??? I came in at an odd hour, one couple sitting at the bar drinking beer. I ordered a beer and asked for a menu. Bartender said the kitchen wasn't open as she poured my beer. I had not eaten all day and I explained I really needed something on my stomach before I started drinking. She asked the cook and he agreed to make me something. I had a patty melt with home made chips. The chips were very good. The patty melt was hearty, but dry. It's like the rye bread was grilled in a dry skillet and there wasn't much dressing inside the sandwich, if any. They served this with a side of ketchup so I used that to try and moisten it up. Thousand island would have been better. That said, I was very thankful they made me a meal. read more

We walked in and ordered thinking it was going to be a good spot. Turns out it was actually dog shit. My friend got a sweet tea opened the lid and there was a huge bug in her drink, how disgusting. My other friend got a grilled cheese and guess what, there was mold on it. This place is so unprofessional and way over priced for what we got. Terrible service, shit hole, rundown and you can smell smoke from the side walk. Broken miss match tables and chairs. Called ahead to see how long they would serve food, they said 1:30. When we drove in from the rodeo they asked us to leave, they don't serve kids. They only won't the regulars money, no outsiders allowed. The price was too expensive like a Zoo and even more than fancy gourmet food, so you're better off paying less than 1/2 at McDonald's before going. The burgers were satisfying, but not worth $18 for each adult meal. It cost $47 for 2 burgers and 1 kids meal burger. This atmosphere is ok for nightlife if you can rough it out a little bit. They should get a shuffle board or something alternative to pool and old arcade games or maybe even hire a band, since I'm paying high prices on a Saturday night. The lighting is bit too low to my liking. I enjoy the set up but just being honest. It is not Cheddar's kitchen so lower your prices. I've eaten in lots of vegas pubs and this is more expensive than vegas pub food. Bottom line, where is all this overcharged beverage and meal money going? read more

Stopped in one day while waiting on a friend who was running late for a lunch date. Sitting in my car decided to look what I was going to eat. They might wanna look at the website they provided unless this is a Japanese Brothel/ Porn site, so I went inside and sat at the bar. I was greeted by LaCie.. what a great personality as I was one of 5 people that day. Cold beer is never wrong before lunch, good prices and selection. I went off her recommendation and was satisfied, After going through the menu, I went with a Burger. Fries and Another cold beer. I always ask for rare- med rare because I hate a dry burger. I know it was cooked right because it was infront of me in 5 mins. Pretty good burger, fries. LaCie recommended pretty much everything and I enjoyed it and the conversation! Recently bought lake property near by and was looking forward to checking out the only nightlife in town. Finally found a weekend night that we were free tonight. Got there and ordered food, and before the food could arrive we were dripping in sweat. It had to be 80+ degrees in there. I know it's 95 degrees outside, but surely you have an AC that can handle it? It was about 8 pm with only a few customers. I can't imagine what it was going to be like if a crowd showed up. We slammed our food down and left. Really disappointed. Food was average.. but that's not really why we went. We'll try again when the weather is cooler. read more

This looks like a fun place to go into, have a beer and maybe play some pool or shoot some hoops, throw darts... I came in for lunch with family. They have a cheeseburger special for $6.95 that I decided to get. It comes with fries. At first, the fries came out way overdone, but the waitress noticed right away and had them remade. The club sandwich is plenty to feed two or three. They have a good selection of beer going beyond the plain big name beers like Budweiser or Coors. I was happy to see that. Former resident of Bowie and really liked the food when we were here 7 months ago to visit family. Tonight we sat down and waited while the waitress ate dinner and only served people at the bar. We went and asked for menus. Still no service. Waited 30 minutes and never got any service. She would look as us and serve someone else. Left and ate elsewhere. Ugh. Have more people coming this week so they missed out on several sales. read more

Normally we love this place and the service even today was spot on. However the cook at lunch on 11/21/2020 was absolute amateur hour. We got several items as we were all hungry. My sister got a corn dog it was stone cold in the center. The orders of fries for both the burger and corn dog were not completely cooked. The wings were undercooked was afraid at that point to send it back we just brought them home to finish in oven. The pulled pork tacos the tortilla was right out of the bag not heated or put in a skillet for a min or two. The waitress was embarrassed and said she has nothing but issues with that cook and when she went back to let him know he just shrugged his shoulders like who cares. There is no excuse at this point in time for a bad cook. It's a shame your place has gone to heck like that we really enjoyed it. Will not darken that doorway again. read more

The Rack has apparently changed hands and it shows. The food is okay the service has dropped off but I think that is because the new owners young son has set up shop in the kitchen/bar and is driving people away. He acts like he owns the place when the boss isn't around and bosses the help around while stuffing his face. Not the place to come anymore. Sad. read more

First time stopping in at the The Rack, with us not knowing what to expect. At first it seemed like a small town local watering hole, all the patrons stopped what they were doing and turned and looked as we walked In on a Monday around 5:40. We made our way to the bar, we're greeted by Iris, and ordered a couple beers. Service was quick and attentive. We had a few beers and I tried their version of a Michelada I asked for Tabasco to spic it up a bit and got the smokey chipotle to my surprise it worked well. For food we had the bone in wings mango habanero and the parmigiana garlic with fries as an appetizer. Wings were on point. Then we tried the burgers for dinner. The _______ Maria Burger was better than expected had bacon, thick beef patty, tomatoe, lettuce, avocado, jalapenos, with mayo and mustard. All around a great experience for the first time. Locals were friendly and Iris and the other bar tender took care of us. Would recommend to anyone stopping by. read more

This place is disgusting!!! People don't know when they get their food that the whole kitchen is crawling with roaches. The burgers are all cooked in the morning on a cookie sheet in the stove and warmed when you order them. Never cooked to order. Had a waitress tell me when they put tickets up on the ticket holder that roaches of all sizes fall on the condiment trays where the pizza and burger toppings are kept. DISGUSTING!!! Seen customers at the bar drinking their beer killing roaches with the rubber drink mats. They are always out of most of them menu. It's not worth the potential risk of getting served roaches crusted foods. Don't go here!! read more

Food and service were terrible this afternoon. They can't even prepare the food as it's described on the menu. Send back two orders of onion rings because they were cold. The cold onion rings were thrown back into the frier and returned burnt and loaded with grease. Asked our server what the special was and she replied "I don't know" with no offer to go and find out. She couldn't split our bill because the cash register didn't work and made no offer to manually split it. Nothing made sense. Poor training and incompetent management. We went here after a football game there were not many people in the place. We waited 45 minutes for our food and when we got it the fries were burnt and the corny dog we ordered was still frozen. The patty melt was burned also. The nachos we ordered were served with pace picante sauce. The service was terrible will not be back and would not recommend this place to anyone read more

My family and I went in at 3pm on a Sunday, so it wasn't busy at all. There were 9 of us and everyone ordered food. The wait was fine considering the size of our party. 3 of us got hamburgers and the meat was so overcooked and dry that you could literally scrap off the hardened layer around the patty. The fish monger sandwich's fillet was so hard, that it was difficult to cut with a knife. I personally ordered the patty melt and along with the inedible meat patty, the bread was so hard, I had to take it off. The fries had no taste (which personally I didn't mind because I don't like salt) but no one else at the table was impressed. The alcoholic beverages were weak and they were out of several beers that they were advertising. The staff was friendly enough. No complaints. It was my first and probably last time going there, but i don't understand how The Brick (across the street and owned by the same person) can have food that's 100 times better. To me, that means something is wrong with the kitchen staff. Support local business... but eat at the The Brick and skip The Rack. read more

Food is delicious. We had the fish monger sandwich, and the Ruben. The bread was freshly baked and light. The jalapeño coleslaw was an interesting addition to the sandwich. An insane portion of fries were served with the sandwiches and they offered a variety of flavored salts. We were there around noon on a Sunday an I just don't think they were ready for patrons. It was a nice find and I will be back. The only reason for this not being 5 stars is the lack of service. read more

They made special accommodations for the World Cup by opening an hour early, too bad they didn't inform the morning bartender. She was very nice and let us in and finished her opening duties while continually checking on us and making sure the tv was on the right channel. The food was good. read more

This weekend we attended a family wedding in Bowie. We wanted to see as much of this weekend's TAMU football game as possible before the nuptials began at 5:30. We arrived at The Rack prior to the 2:30 Aggie kickoff while the Texas OU game was in full swing. We asked the owner if we could have one screen switched over to the Aggie game at 2:30, and she took care of us without hesitation. We had a great time, good drinks, and yummy food while we got to watch our beloved Aggies. We changed into our wedding clothes in their IMMACULATE bathrooms, and made it to the wedding on time.
