    Spicy Poke Bowl
    Dennis R.

Born in Hawaii, now living in Texas for a few years, so working in Arizona for a few weeks has been great since there are so many poke places in or near the Chandler area, and Lomi Poke one of the best! I've been here 3 times in less than 2 weeks. I cant get enough of their poke bowls, especially the Spicy and Tempura bowls. I have two more weeks here and I'm sure I'll be back again soon.

Small restaurant in strip mall with counter service. They offer a nice variety of Poke and other items if you aren't a fish eater. Good service. Good selection. Good prices with lunch specials. I would recommend.

Did you know that poke served with salmon is not a part of the original Hawaii cuisine? The classic Poke during the late 1800s was prepared from raw ahi tuna or cured octopus. But if you need me, I'll be daydreaming about salmon. I love that dang fish. I haven't tried the poke at Lomi Poki yet but I've been getting the Teriyaki Salmon Bento. They cook the salmon on the flat top right before your eyes so you know the food will be hot. I suspect the egg roll and gyoza in the bento is of the frozen pre-packaged variety but it's okay. A nice refreshing salad is served on the side. As for the grilled salmon, I didn't realize they served them in tiny nugget-sized pieces which was interesting. It's not a deal breaker but definitely something worth noting. So yeah, not bad for a quick takeout dinner after working out at EOS next door!

The food quality is amazing !! We had many chicken katsu but the one here Is the best! That salad dressing is amazing , highly recommend and great lunch specials

Build Your Own Poke Bowl with 2 Proteins

Poke is now the latest thing my husband and I are trying around town. Yesterday, my we were in the area so we decided to try Lomi. I ordered through Yelp, build your own bowl with two proteins. I ordered the same combination for myself and my husband. It was ready ahead of pick up time, I gave it about 10 minutes after ordering and then I stepped into the restaurant, the bowls were almost ready. For our proteins, we both chose the shrimp because it's cooked and then added multiple toppings. This is the first place that doesn't have mangoes but instead, they offer pineapples. No extra charge for the crab salad. I added for the first time seaweed salad. Normally I like it but I think when it has to be served really cold otherwise the taste kinda changes and it doesn't taste as good. I think when it was added too close to the warm rice, it didn't taste great to me so I pushed it aside. Everything else was delicious. The shrimps were cold. I chose the sweet chili sauce. It blended well with everything but overall, the bowl was slightly on the sweeter side especially with the addition of pineapple. I might try another sauce next time and might skip the pineapple as well as the seaweed salad. The restaurant is currently closed for dine in. They have social distancing enforced, everyone wears a mask and gloves and you are required to wear a mask when you walk in. They also have a hand sanitizer at the counter. Prices are average and for the size of the bowl, this was a delicious quick dinner that was easily eaten in the car! Give them a try!

Poke burrito with salmon and tuna

I was craving a poke burrito something fierce and had been wanting to try Lomi Poki ever since I heard it opened. It's a convenient location in the Eos Fitness shopping plaza and I will never say no to another poke place opening up in Tempe! They have a plethora of preset options for bowls and a few preset poke burritos, or you can be all creative and make your own. I opted to make my own poke burrito to go with tuna and salmon. At home I unwrapped my securely packaged poke burrito bounty. It looked marvelous, with its mixture of colors and textures. The taste? It was alright. While I enjoyed all the ingredients together, I felt it needed just a bit more sauce because it wasn't as packed with flavor as other poke burritos I've had at other places.

    Spicy poke bowl to go!

Lomi Poki has the Poké-technique down to a Tee! Their selections and quality of Poké is top notch. The poké is expertly cut to thick squares, marinated with a burst of flavor. In comparison to other nearby spots, Lomi definitely is a tier above. Let me be your poké guide, and take my word for it. If you're having a raw fish craving, stop on by! My picks are the spicy poké bowl and the Hawaiian bowl. There is a satisfying amount of crunch and creaminess to every bite, combined with the comforting texture of white rice! The tempura bowl is also very good. They also offer different sides like edamame and a soda machine. Restrooms and inside very clean! Lomi is the LOML (love of my life). Just kidding, we aren't that serious... Yet.

I didn't really try to feel the ambiance for the visit. I ordered a few basic and "safe" (but would consider as staple) dishes to test out this place: tempura, spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll, and chicken Yakisoba. Overall, yes, they all hit the standard. They are all good, but not great. Honestly, it will become the go-to 4th place and I would go back if my top 3 are all not available/long wait/close for the day. Lastly, the tempura is the most disappointing of all with portion size. So order 2 plates if you like veggies more than shrimps.

The menu was 5 courses prix fixe designed by the head chef for this group. The restaurant was closed as a private event. Service was excellent, the food was also so delicious, and cocktails were great too. Shimogamo is one of the few Japanese restaurants in the valley that remind me of eating Japanese food in Japan. It's well prepared, fresh, and high quality. The cocktails are creative and nods to Japan with delicate flavors and unique ingredients. Our courses were: started with the truffle amberjack which is a flavor bomb, very rich and truffle forward. Which I don't always enjoy but when paired with amberjack, it was great. 2nd course was a nigiri plate- 4 choices: sea bream (which I love), a fancy type salmon, toro, and couple pieces of the wagyu roll. Next onto a darn near perfect crab croquet that was creamy with big pieces of crab and perfectly fried, and main course was K4 ranch Wagyu from Prescott. Very buttery and delicious. We ended with a matcha basque cheesecake. The chefs talked about the food, answered questions, and talked about their background. It was an enjoyable dinner and we will be back for the "oysters and cocktails" hour they were promoting. I love both of those things.

They offer a nice variety of Japanese dishes, but we were definitely here for the ramen. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, and it came out just right--perfectly spicy with fish cake, green onions, and all the toppings. It was delicious and hit the spot. The tonkotsu ramen had a nice creaminess to it, but it could've used a bit more depth of flavor. One thing I really liked is that you can order side appetizers along with your entrée, almost like building your own bento-style meal. We went with the deep-fried gyoza and gyudon. The gyudon was a standout--definitely five stars. The gyoza, however, was just okay for me. The cabbage had a strange flavor. The thin carrot slices were fine. The rice was mushy, possibly overcooked. The shrimp tempura was nicely crispy, typical of shrimp tempura. The gyoza dumplings were also nicely crispy. The dipping sauce for the shrimp tempura was bland. The dipping sauce for the gyoza dumplings had more flavor. Definitely liked the sushi-licious platter more than the classic, since the classic included avocado and cucumber rolls, which are a little too basic for my liking because they just contain rice and cucumber/avocado. My favorite was the volcano roll included in the sushi-licious platter. Great portion size for the price (~$11). The chicken teriyaki bowl was more salty than sweet and included lots of mushrooms as well. Not my favorite chicken teriyaki but still tasty if you're in the mood for it.
