My husband wanted a Whattaburger and this place was accross the parking lot. I told my husband that I wanted to try this place. The space is bright and open. High and low tables and self serve drinks. There was also a sauce table. My husband ordered the BBQ Beef plate with double Mac salad. Not sure what the cashier heard but when we checked the plate, it had sautéed cabbage instead of extra mac. Brought it to the cashiers attention and she apologized and said that was her fault. She provided another scoop. My husband said it wasn't bad and he knows his teriyaki. He did say that the extra teriyaki sauce I got helped as it was slightly dry. They also gave a lot of the bbq meat. He ran out of rice so I gave him some of mine . I ordered an Aloha Plate Combo which is a 2 choice plate from a set list and toss salad instead of mac. I got the Shrimp & Island Fire Chicken. The shrimp was okay, panko fried. The island fire chicken was a sautéed chicken with onions in a spicy sauce. It was an okay plate, nothing that really wowed. There was so much sauce on the chicken, it was hard to tell how much chicken there actually was. I also ordered 2 spam musubi for the plane as we had an early flight the next day. The rice was dry so the musubi kind of fell apart. It was recommended to eat wirh the Katsu sauce so I had a small cup in the container. It was a lot better with the sauce. Overall, if we ever do go again, I would pick something else for myself however it is a limited menu. It would be difficult for them to compete with Panda Express 3 doors down. read more

I went to try the new Lava Shrimp Plate, and it was good flavor rice was kind of sticky and dry and the mac was good no type of flavor but good . I called in because I couldn't figure out how to use the coupon on the app. It kept showing up as a plate instead of just the Lava Seafood Plate, so I had to pick the correct one. When I asked for help over the phone, the girl was really sweet but didn't speak up and tell me how the offer worked. Hopefully, the managers are training the front desk staff on how the coupons and discounts work, since she didn't explain anything to me. What a disappointment on a first time visit!! Although the portions were huge and the flavor of the BBQ chicken was good, the quality of the chicken itself was so bad as to be inedible. Ono Hawaiian BBQ Galbi, BBQ Chicken and BBQ Beef, Katsu with Curry and Macaroni Salad are all solid. Just as good as the rice plates at the beach on Oahu from the food trucks. The SPAM Musubi is not bad and a nice compliment to your meal. I have spent many days in Oahu at Sandy Beach, Bellows and Hanauma Bay and after being in the water all day, we always would get our rice plates with 2 scoops of rice, 2 scoops of macaroni salad and a couple slabs of galbi short ribs, Ono is as good and is a good reminder of the old days. read more

Will never be back. Ordered a chicken katsu meal to go and pretty disappointed with the chicken. The meal would have been perfect if the chicken wasn't pounded to an 1/8th of an inch. Definitely not healthy, but the flavor of the BBQ sauce really shines through in their chicken and beef, and the fried fish and shrimp still taste great a day later. The macaroni salad is one of the better ones I've had, which match well with both the rice and veggies. For the amount of meat and seafood you're getting, the prices are definitely competitive and portion sizes are generous. Great option when you want to play video games or watch a football game, and don't want to spend too much money for food. Yummy stuff - and I'm telling myself this is a healthier option than other fast-casual joints, but that's probably not true. Still, some of my favorites here including the chicken katsu which is chicken pieces coated with panko and fried crispy; their salad that came with my combo plate was really fresh and I liked the addition of soy beans and the sweet dressing. Was in the area and craving Hawaiian, and this place deliverers, so it won. Food was good, and hit the craving, but wasn't anything extremely amazing. Chicken was flavorful, two large scoops of rice. The Mac salad was a very tiny scoop so if this is what you like, get more. I also would have liked more broccoli, and extra sauce - there was basically none on the teriyaki which was disappointing. I had placed my order online and took it to-go, so I cannot give much feedback on the service and the atmosphere, but I did not have any problems with ordering at all. As for the food, I had ordered the Kalua pork combo and the pork was really juicy and delicious! Although, I wasn't that big of fan of chicken katsu that came along with it. It didn't taste how I expected it to like other places made it and the mac salad was alright but nothing too amazing or special. They did give a generous amount of meat and rice which was a plus! We've been here twice in the last week and I'm a big fan of their grilled lemon pepper chicken plate! It is healthy and delicious. The plate comes with a massive amount of grilled lemon pepper chicken (white meat) with a fresh and juicy lemon wedge to squeeze on top, rice, mac salad (my favorite!), and steamed cabbage. Both dishes came with 2 scoops of rice, 1 scoop of macaroni salad, and a bunch of vegetables under the meat (99% cabbage, with one piece of broccoli in s/o's veggie pile). The flavors were simple, but good, and I enjoyed it. The portions were also large enough that we had enough to last two meals (and I used leftover Island Fire and Teriyaki sauce to make a fried rice for lunch today). This place used to be one of the best Ono's in town, now days not so much. Its still pretty clean but the smell of sewer inside has gotten out of control, not only the smell but the heat, oh my gosh! It's been so hotter inside than the outside some times. The customer service they have has gotten better. Yayyyy! Now let's talk about the food....
