The Crab Cake was a hefty portion and a delicious start to the meal. Spicy, tomatoey olive oil was great with the Ciabatta. Lamb Chops were cooked to medium and the blackberry fig sauce complemented it nicely. The Sea Scallop was a very solid dish overall, no complaints! The Duck portion was massive and succulent, although it was definitely an ordeal to extract all the meat. Initially they said it would be around a 45 min wait but the manager(?) came out and moved a few incoming parties around to accommodate us, awesome service. Thus, we were seated soon after arrival. We were never left looking for help with anything. I love the casual ambience and the lighting makes it feel like a cozy bar with great food. We started with a cheese platter which was huge and tasty. The berries and walnuts compliment the cheese perfectly and the hot honey balsamic was novel and delicious. It's definitely spicy so be judicious if you aren't into heat. The duck confit special was perfect and succulent, falling off the bone and accompanied by an outstanding orange sauce with polenta. My wife had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and sausage gravy and it was a decadent meal. The portions are quite large, we needed to wrap some up. I'd go back in a heartbeat and the next time I'm nearby the Dark Horse will be our destination.

They were so accommodating, helpful, and responsive, and worked with us to tailor the menu to give our guests a great selection of options. We had pulled chicken, pulled pork, brisket, ribs, baked beans, collard greens, cornbread, potato salad, and mac and cheese and everything was delicious! The meats were perfectly cooked, tender, and full of that amazing BBQ flavor. The mac and cheese was creamy and delicious, and the potato salad was fresh and flavorful. You could really tell that everything was made fresh and from scratch. Our guests gave us so many compliments on the food, and we couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. It was truly a pleasure working with them, and we really appreciated the care and attention they put into helping us create the perfect menu for our event!

Once we got there; with our luck, the restaurant was full and we had to wait a few mins because their system was down. Which is understandable. As we wait, the couple after us had made reservations for 2 and their table was ready. First impressions matter to me and there is no reason for inconsistency when it comes to reservations. Finally, after a few more mins, they found us a table. Once we sat, and we ordered some water, they decided to moves us again to another table. Now im bothered but I didn't want that to ruin my night. The waitress took our order for drinks and food. The whisky sour was ok and our wait for food began. The couple next to us had their appetizers and main entrees served before we even got our appetizers. I understand it may have been busy, but everyone around was getting there food quicker, lack of attention. We finally got our entrees and the dishes were ok. My duck was cooked perfectly but my wife's dish lacked some flavor. She had to be careful because the fish had fish bones and we had thought they had taken those out. As we waited for the food I noticed that the owner was walking around and greeting the customers and finding out how the food was. I believe that every owner should follow this man's footsteps because he was very attentive to all and I feel that he turned our experience around for the better. Once we finished, he asked us about the food and what brought us there. Conversation with him was great and easy. We mentioned to him that my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and he surprised us with a dessert and coffee. This dessert was incredible and his sweet gesture made the experience so much better. I hope to return one day and give them another chance. I would say try this restaurant and make sure you make reservations because the restaurant is always full.
