Pollo a la Brasa Entero con papas y ensalada (not pictured)

07/20/25 - Peruvian Food Day at Lola's Chicken in Van Nuys is a delicious destination . The place is small but serves some authentic tasting Peruvian dishes. The "Aji" (Peruvian Hot Sauce) is on point and a bit spicier than normal. The Peruvian style wood fired chicken "Pollo a la Brasa" is very good. Ask for the fries on a separate plate. We did not do that and the fries steamed the crispness of the skin. Other than that... no complaints. Lunch with Silvia (Peruvian friend), Martin (Peruvian cousin) and Patti (Anglo wife). ............................................................... Thanks for reading. Pollo con Tres Accompanamientos

Day Visited: Tuesday at 6:30 PM Price Range: $34-$36 (for whole chicken) Parking: Parking lot or street parking near neighborhood areas Ordered: Pollo con Tres Accompanamientos and Chicha Morada This spot was soooo incredibly good. The chicken was juicy, tender, and flavorful and the sauces that came with it was perfectly paired for the fries and rice that was ordered as well. The cashiers and servers were also very attentive and kind, and directed us to get any utensils and napkins, if needed. I was there on a Tuesday around 6:30, and it was completely empty, but after an hour, the place was packed, so any time after 7:30-8, expect a manageable crowd (not too wild though). I will definitely be back!

Great food,. The chicken is amazing, the french fries are pretty darn good they serve rice and beans. Parking's a little challenging. The prices are pretty good I haven't been here in a couple years they did change the dining area which looks great! Speak Spanish or to point at the menu of the items you want! They're very friendly and helpful and like I said the food is amazing!

Their hours are not accurate, terrible customer service from the ladies at the register.

9:13 closing early terrible customer service, still working inside .change your hours today at 9:18 still shows open. Come to the restaurant and they said is already close. Unfortunately is the only pollo ala brasa in the area. Update your hours!!!

Pretty good place to eat and off the beaten path. It's like an El Pollo Loco but better.

I got a whole chicken with the sides and I decided to try the Peruvian ceviche. The chicken was good, seasoning was there. It was already precut for me so that's was kind. I was really looking forward to the ceviche and it was not good. The lime juice or the leche de Tigre was very bitter, and it just didn't taste good... Something was off about the ceviche, perhaps it spoiled quickly as my drive back home was an hour, i unfortunately had to throw it away because it did not taste edible. Service is quite friendly, and quick. I'd come give it a second try for the ceviche, maybe it was not the freshest batch or my commute was too long but I don't think food spoils that rapidly. Either way I definitely recommend the rotisserie chicken with the sides!

The ordering process was quick and easy, and my food was ready right on time when I arrived. I was in and out with no hassle, which I really appreciated. The tacos were delicious -- the pineapple added the perfect touch of sweetness that balanced so well with the savory flavors. The sauces were also amazing and really brought everything together. Each bite had a great mix of flavor and freshness. If you're looking for a tasty and affordable Taco Tuesday option, this online special is definitely worth it. I'll absolutely be ordering again!

A happy birthday lunch was had here for our first visit - and we're better for it. I got the…read moreBurrito Saltado and my birthday buddy tried the Lomo Saltado. We shared a side of fried plantains. I'm a sucker for a lot of fusion-esque burritos that wrap up traditional cuisine dishes in a flour tortilla. The tortilla usually tastes of higher quality (ALWAYS a highlight) and I was most interested in having a familiar dish spun a little differently. It did not disappoint when it came to the expected flavoring of the veggies and lomo saltado style steak. There was plenty of filling and it sang with the aji verde and orange pepper sauces, but it ultimately was not a revelation. The traditional Lomo Saltado plate was not culinary brilliance either, but it was the favored of the two selections, as it featured the grill in the back of the kitchen more effectively. Anything that is exemplary of mainstay dishes from a regional category is still very special, and this plate will be worth returning for. That, and of course the Inka Cola I've always had to order with my Peruvian plates, where available. This place boasts really good roasted chicken and when you see working men order the la brasa by the basketfull for lunch, you start making conclusions about what an authentic experience at an establishment looks like. So we plan to eat what the regulars do upon the next visit. We weren't burned for starting with the cow though. Guess I had to have my birthday steak one way or another.

So sad to find out they're permanently closed. Best Peruvian chicken in the valley, hands down. Now…read moreI'll have to wait til I'm in LA to stop by Pollo a La Brasa.

We started with chicha morada and yuca a la huancaína, and they brought us some bread while we waited. Unfortunately, the air conditioning didn't seem to be working well, and the restaurant felt very warm. We mentioned it to the staff, but it remained uncomfortable throughout our meal. For our entrées, we ordered two lomo saltados. The presentation was good, although the meat in one of them was a little tough. We also ordered the tacu tacu a lo pobre, which was very good and probably the highlight of the meal. Service was quick and efficient. The bathrooms, however, could have been cleaner and better maintained. We also weren't particularly fond of having different prices depending on whether you pay with cash or credit card. Overall, it was an OK experience and a decent option for a quick bite. Since we already have a favorite Peruvian restaurant closer to home, this will probably be our last visit, but there were still some good aspects to the meal.
