Rating this strictly as a breakfast/coffee joint as that is how I enjoyed it. To be up front, I thought this was more of a breakfast place than it truly is, it definitely is a coffee shop in the morning with a few pastries and quiche-like options. Nonetheless, it is a great addition to this block of Dundee. The options weren't many, but I went with a cinnamon bun, cardamom bread, yogurt with granola and Americano (wanted to try a bit of everything). Cinnamon bun was the winner, with a great orange zest flavor (I would love to see this with some cream cheese frosting, but I could say that for any pastry). Everything else was tasty as well. Location is inside of Dundee theater, so there is ample parking in the mornings, with lots of seating and no feel of rush to leave. Comfortable seating, bright and open, and a little nook with some bench seating which could fit a larger group. All in all, a nice place for a coffee in the morning with a pastry. Lola's is an elevated coffee shop experience. It would be a great place to get breakfast/coffee with a friend or even a date but also a great place to study and get work done. There's tons of great sunlight and light music in the background creating the perfect environment for studying or grabbing a bite/coffee. Lola's has really great coffee and I enjoyed being served in a mug! The menu is fairly small but just what I would expect from a cafe. There are great sandwich options and they have an amazing bakery, you must get a baked good if you come here! Beautiful space with delicious food. I got the toastie with arugla in place of prosciutto. Can we talk about that rosemary sourdough focaccia bread!? One more cafe visit for me in Omaha. Their espresso machine was not working so was a but disappointed to not have a coffee. I took the tomato and leek soup. It was great in taste and very soothing in this cold winter. The bread was soft and tasted nice. The service was quick and up to the mark. I was greeted very well at the counter. I stopped in at Lola's on a Saturday afternoon to do some work and grab a quick bite/drink and it wasn't too busy. I was immediately greeted and seated at a table. I got one of the seasonal scones and a black tea. The prices were very reasonable and service was on par. There aren't many outlets for working, and the tables are kind of small so it's not somewhere I would go to do hours of work. But the interior decor is bright and full of plants that really energizes you! I will definitely be stopping by again the next time in Omaha! read more

I'm a little amused by the amount of "it's an elevated cafe experience!" comments on here so I'm going to give you a true review. First of all, as elevated as you want to make it, it's attached to a movie theater (albeit a small, independent one). I don't mean "oh, it shares the same hallway"; I mean that the concession stand is literally in the open space directly next to the restaurant. You can smell popcorn the whole time (honestly, it might've helped my experience a little). I came in with a few friends for dinner, but I assume this place would be much better as a brunch spot. The dinner menu is different from the breakfast/brunch menu, so if you want sandwiches you'd have to ask the server. I've noticed when comparing the charcuterie board I got with those posted here that the meats and cheeses are pretty.. inconsistent, so if you want to play russian roulette with your food, there you go. I was excited to try their honey, but I got a strange sort of jam and the most sinus cleansing mustard I've ever had (which I would've genuinely appreciated in the winter, honestly). Oh, and the table does come with bread and butter, but the charcuterie board surprisingly didn't come with any crackers or bread? You'll have to ask for some, but I don't think they charged me for. Honestly, I can buy a wedge of Brie and Gouda and pair it with some typical salami at home, so what I received wasn't exactly to die for. For $17, you'd think they would add some unique samples, you know? Water comes in a pitcher with no ice, so during the summertime it's not really ideal. All in all.. meh. read more

If you are heading to the Omaha Community Playhouse stop by Lola's before the show. Food was exceptional. I had the Hanger Steak and it was perfect! The service was prompt, inviting and very informative. The wine list was very well selected. My wife had a most interesting Nebbiolo blush. I indulged in the nonalcoholic Athletic IPA. We went once for their sit down weekend brunch and again during the week. Sunday- - The Morning Bun and .. Mongola? Pastries were delicious! - vanilla latte and mocha latte - delicious - The sourdough blueberry pancakes with sausage were probably the best restaurant pancakes I've ever had. They were perfection! - Eggs over polenta - very good! Definitely have to be in the mood for it. It's more savory than breakfasty. Tuesday- order at the counter and a more limited breakfast menu. When I think of my great aunts talking about going out for a luncheon this is what I think of. Natural light setting. Fresh high quality ingredients. Reasonable portions. Coffee bar or an adult beverage. We had three different sandwiches. The butternut squash was our favorite. Many reviews rave about the focaccia. It was good but not my favorite. Today I had a wonderful lunch from Lola's Cafe on Dodge St. It's located inside Filmstreams. They're not having indoor dining yet so I picked curbside, but you can also get delivery. I ordered hummus with bread, celery, and carrots, a red cabbage salad, and a cookie. The portions were generous and I have enough for another meal. The salad was a delicious type of slaw with organic red cabbage, shredded carrots, thinly sliced red onion, parsley and toasted pepitas tossed in lemon dressing. The proportion of ingredients to dressing was perfect. I like to taste the veggies in my salad and the slightly sweet flavor didn't overwhelm the cabbage. It wasn't swimming in dressing either. The bread that came with it seemed like sourdough. It too was perfect--slightly crunchy and chewy on the outside but soft on the inside. The hummus was very smooth with just a hint of garlic. The sourdough bread slices seemed a bit different from the bread with the slaw, but it was just right for dipping as were the carrots and celery. I really didn't have room for the cookie so broke off a couple of pieces to sample and saved the rest for later. It was very good but had a bit of unexpected saltiness. The whole meal was great and with enough leftover for dinner, what's not to love. Lola's will see me again. read more

I moved away from Omaha a year ago and I miss this restaurant the most. I can't find anything like it. It's deceptively simple but the ambiance and the food are a treasure. I used to go eat their roast chicken dinner every month, sometimes more often, with a couple glasses of red wine and a slice of chocolate cake. So perfect. I know it's mostly known for it's daytime menu, but if you get a chance go there for dinner. You won't be disappointed. The only thing I would complain about is the wall of wealthy people's names you have to look at while your eating. I get that it's for the theater, but it kind of kills the mood. My most recent visit to Lola's was not as terrific as the previous ones... first, I must say for any who are dairy-free/gluten free by necessity -- I've had some delayed issues after my previous visits, and had the jalapeño kale salad and coffee both times, so I think either the salad is not fully dairy/gluten free, or the coffee contains gluten. I didn't chance to try either on my last visit and had no issues. When I asked the server about it, they said the coffee wouldn't have gluten and the dressing had egg. I don't react to egg, so beats me. But I want to correct my previous review, because I raved about items and i can't confidently say those things are safe (though they are delicious). I went this time the Friday after thanksgiving, to get some work done, and stayed about 5 hours. The music was blasted to an overwhelming level, and a table of people near me was yelling above the music to talk to each other, which made the noise level still more overwhelming. When I asked politely if the music could be turned down the person working front register kind of stared into the distance and said, "I guess we can do that..." I went up about an hour later to ask again, because it didn't seem to ever be turned down. This time it was. I ordered at my table, which was by the front windows, before asking about the music, and I asked to keep the menu in case I'd like to order again. But after my salad was brought to me, no one server returned to my table to check on how I liked the food or bring water. I ordered the simple salad, and it was very good (definitely no gluten or dairy!), but had to flag down a server later on to order more food. And after the music was turned down after I asked the 2nd time, it was returned back to the overwhelmingly loud level again. In 5 hours a server came to my table to take my order, bring my salad, and then came over when I flagged her down so I could order again, and then brought my salad. I was otherwise never asked if I needed anything. The salad was good (I ordered it twice), and the wifi was reliable which was so helpful! Went today for brunch, I came because I saw a picture of the sourdough pancakes on social media and I'm a pancake extraordinaire! The pic looked amazing, but the setup is pretty cool.. it's inside a theater (shares same building). I ordered the sourdough blueberry pancakes (only served on weekends) and a drip coffee. The coffee was VERY bitter and the pancakes were tough.. ugh. The bright side is that you get 5 pancakes, but not so great if they're tough haha! Didn't know this place existed until a week ago. It's in the same building as the dunes movie theatre. The coffee is excellent. Its on par with archetype coffee with better seating area. Not really by other spots but totally worth the navigation! It's actually the lobby of a movie theater, which usually doesn't scream "gourmet food"... But this place delivers! We over ordered, but I have no regrets because I got to try so many goodies. The Mandorla and the rosemary focaccia we're probably my faves, but the stuffed donut bomboloni was excellent. The eggs with crispy polenta were a good match for all that sweet and the sourdough pancakes were unique and delicious! I love the vibe here -- including the compost! I keep coming here to try and like it. This is my 6th visit and it never gets better. Poor, snotty service every time. Even when they're not busy, everything is slow. Waiters act like they're doing you a big favor by waiting on you. Menu. Extremely limited. So dark, I had to use my phone flashlight to read. If you're not a vegan foodie, good luck finding much. Coffee. Over priced and small cups. I asked for an Americano and it came in an espresso cup. Thinnest napkin and you only get one. Luke warm drinking water. The picture I took is from my table. This cleaning station is in the middle of the restaurant like a proud fountain, only it's dirty brooms and waste. It is 5 ft from me. I'm wishing I had some ice to slip into my Luke warm rose (not that I like putting ice in my wine glass). Last time I was here, I cut my lip on a chipped water glass. Shame on me for returning. After my waitress slowly walked by my table w/o ever asking how my meal was or if I needed anything, I finally got her attention. She did not like what I had to say and abruptly said, I'll get my manager. Manager came over. She gets a 5 star. She looks stoned. She apologized and she comped my dinner and brought me another glass of wine. For the record, I didn't do this for a free meal. And that was certainly above and beyond. Next waitress ACTUALLY CHECKED IN and asked how my glass of wine is in terms of the chill level. She said they put it back in the frig. Normally I love this place and I'm addicted to their kale salad, but I was heartbroken today when I picked up my salad and discovered they substituted my jalepenos with RADISHES! There's only two toppings on the salad (spicy almond and jalepenos) so without the jalepenos it's worthless. Cute and classy! This is such a charming spot with tons of natural light and a fresh vibe. They have a newer patio outside with brightly color tables and nice, large umbrellas. The weekend brunch menu has familiar favorites with just enough of a twist to make the options super unique. Seeing polenta on the menu was such a nice treat! We've also been for drinks and apps in the evening and again, a nice selection of food. My personal favorites are the charcuterie (we've gotten this to go on multiple occasions) and the vegetarian board (and I'm far from vegetarian). The quality of the Italian meats is second to none and all the bread is made in house so you can taste the freshness. I still have so many more things I want to try so it's a good thing we live in the neighborhood and can frequent this charmer more often! Bonus if you're going to a movie at Filmstreams and can have a quick bite before or after the show. Filmstreams members get a discount! I love this place! If I am meeting someone for coffee this is the best. They have great coffee, especially love their dairy free options. Just a regular oat milk lattes for me every time. Went to Lola's during my lunch break and was craving something on the healthier side. This kale salad with jalapeños and lemon Caesar dressing was the BOMB. I was worried it wouldn't be filling (because salads never fill me) but I left feeling satisfied and still feeling light! I went right around 12pm and the place was PACKED , I was able to find a table but it did feel a bit congested in there as tables were very close together. The tables and seating area was very clean and it was nice to have a whole pitcher of water for the table to have. The food took a little longer than I would like to come out but I was able to get in and leave within 40-45 minutes. Service was also nice and helpful in their suggestions of what to try and eat.
