It has become my regular hangout, food is good and price is fair. waitresses are friendly

So I almost drove past this place is really small and it looks like an abandoned building There's no windows in the parking lot is really small, but maybe when you walk in it looks like Christmas exploded There are a ton of Christmas trees and lights everywhere if you love Christmas and everything about Christmas this is a place for you Please be careful when you are walking in because I almost fell walking into the establishment We waited about 20 minutes before we were even acknowledged and even served. There was only one server because they were short staffed and it was only three people working that day. One person to serve one person to check out iand the cook. The server was very loud and expressing how bad she didn't wanna work there and how they were hiring how she needed help and how she don't make enough as a customer. I thought it was very unprofessional. After awaiting at our table for 20 minutes, she finally access what we wanted to eat and we place an order. She never brought our drinks out so after we received our food, our food was wrong. I asked for a pepperoni pizza with bacon and ham and extra sauce, she brought me out a pizza with ham and extra extra cheese. It just looked a mess and I asked for her to take it back. I didn't want it and she had an attitude the cook had an attitude so bad that they came out and said something to me my friend ordered her food and it was wrong but she still ate it. We paid for our food and we left. Will I be back no different strokes for different folks a lot of people was raving about this place on TikTok and Facebook that is why we decided to come check them out, but we are experienced wasn't the best. My wife came in here years ago maybe more than a decade ago and had a bad experience and she's never gone since...Today I came here and I had a very good experience; it was delicious; My server, Jillian, did a good job; very attentive and friendly. I had breakfast which they serve all day. The the gravy was very good, the biscuit it was okay. I might even had toast just to enjoy the gravy more. I have a feeling that the biscuits aren't always mediocre because there was a lot good about it, nice color, very big, I think it just had been around too long and I was at the restaurant 20 minutes before they closed. I had eggs, they prepared them exactly the way I asked and were very good. I really like their home fries I had a piece of ham just to experience the rest of the menu and that was very good.. you do have to note that it's thoroughly Christmas decorated all year long and that's kind of fun but they do play Christmas music but that's ok, maybe I wouldn't come in January because, you know you're sick of Christmas music by then, but definitely a fun atmosphere I definitely recommend this restaurant It's hard to find It's just a tiny little place off S High Street near SR 104, across from what used to be Dan's diner. The prices were very good I got out of there I think for about $14 but that's with two Cokes...and that's the bad thing about their prices.their soft drinks come in a can and they're $2 each which really is almost the kind of thing I wouldn't come back because of that, but the other prices on the menu more than make up for that.... if I hadn't had the cokes I would have gotten out of there for 10 bucks for a very big breakfast. I honestly think if they lowered the price of their cans of soda to $1.25 they would make more in the long run because there's a few people who won't come back when they pay $2 for a can of Coke But I must reinforce the prices of everything else were just very very good, very, very competitive... you get a lot for your money at Lois Mann's it has two or three big tables long tables that would seat a lot of people. So this would be a good place for groups. They are just barely five stars, but I'm hoping the biscuits are normally better and I guess the high price of soda is offset by the reasonable prices of everything else. read more

Love the decor, only a Scrooge wouldn't love Christmas all year long. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and told to watch our step, the waitress was attentive without being bothersome, the food was delicious, the price was a third of anyplace else, and the overall experience was so good we will be back. This is the most assuming place I have been to in Columbus, but, wow, it did not disappoint! The interior is festive and fun enough to put anyone in a good mood. Sweetie was a little leery walking up, because of the neighborhood, but it's a nice little building- and once you get inside the decor is cool. Not really my thing, but Christmassy without being crazy, plus guitars and photos of bluegrass musicians. Nothing fancy, very cozy. There's a lunch menu, but we went with breakfast standards. She got pancakes and bacon. Big fluffy pancakes; I had a bite, very good. Great bacon. I had the #5, biscuits and gravy plus eggs and hash browns. Big portion, eggs cooked to the medium I asked for, which is rare (no, not medium rare... never mind.) Lots of tasty potatoes. A huge, square, light biscuit. Perfect. The sausage gravy was pretty good. Might be from a can, but it's good canned stuff then. Service was great. Friendly, fast, helpful. Prices are really good. Cash only- glad I had enough, but the bill wasn't high. Definitely coming back. read more

what a great place!!! Lois is called the "Mother of the South End" for a reason. she and her employees are about the most amazing people to be around. our coffee group from summit chase went there on one of our outings, and i was amazed that i haven't ate there before. it used to be a laundromat, then a pizza place and now a delicious place to grab a bite to eat. BRING CASH...No Plastic is accepted!! tastefully decorated year round in christmas, it was featured on Phil and Myron's breakfast of Columbus (they go around taking breakfasts in different places around columbus and give a report of what they found on their Facebook pages. there were presents around each tree in the restaurant, and they were to be given to the local community and to patrons the week of christmas....cannot wait to come here again!! read more

Decided to go off the beaten path this morning. Went to Lois Mann's on High Street. They have been at this location for 11 years and 40+ years at their previous location. My waitress was Julie, very good waitress that checked on me numerous times. Ordered a #5- 2 Eggs, hash browns and biscuit and gravy. The eggs were cooked to a perfect medium, the hash browns were made with skin on potatoes that had a phenomenal deep potato flavor. Could have just ordered a plate of them. On to the star of the show, you get this huge biscuit, perfect texture, split it open and pour a huge bowl of gravy on it. Gravy was made with a nice sausage. Yummmy!!! All this for $6.95. Cheap and delicious food is a major plus. On to what everyone talks about, the decor. Place is one big Christmas Decoration. And quite the collection of guitars all over the place. I will definitely have to come back for the lunch menu sometime. Everyone needs to check this place out, especially if you have kids. read more

Seen this little Christmas cafe on Fox 28 morning news with Cameron Fontana . So my Wife and I went today to see what it was about. The outside of the building needs some work but don't let that stop you. Inside is beautiful with wall to wall Christmas tree's and decorations. It's an old school no frill cafe. The menu is limited. We had breakfast. My wife had 2 eggs,home fries and toast. Price was $3.95 and I had cheese omelet with home fries and toast at $11.99. Coffee was 1.95 with free refills. Everything was perfectly done. Coffee was excellent. They were quite busy but very friendly and efficient to say the least. As a bonus there was a live folk band playing. Foods good. But I took a friend to eat there. Waitress brought our menus after 20 mins of sitting with her family. Then the owner had to take our order. The cook brought our food out to us. An hour later. There were only 4 tables with people. At no time did she ever ask us if we needed anything. And it wasn't like she didn't see us. She shot evil glares everytime she walked by. Or while she stood around. Shame I just found out about that place and have gone 4 times in 2 weeks. I like supporting mom and pops businesses. First impression: This restaurant is very clean and tidy. We were agog looking at all the elaborate Christmas decorations. It's known as "The Christmas Cafe." The tables are decorated with lovely vinyl coverings that look like brocade embroidered fabric. Fooled me! Plus it has all types of string instruments on the wall. To the food review: We ordered homemade lasagna with rich simmered tomato sauce and the cabbage rolls with coleslaw side. Both meals came with toasted and buttered long loaf slices. We both had a house salad (one came with the cabbage rolls as a side). Our waitress (Jillian) was excellent and friendly. Jillian said to come back on Wednesdays to hear the bluegrass band from 1-3pm or so (no extra charge). Lois Mann filled us in on the history of her restaurant back to when it was at Parsons Avenue & Markison for 24 years. The restaurant has been at the current location 13 years, she said. We hear Lois does a lot for the southside community. Lois said "bring the kids." They get a gift every time they come in. Generous lady. We will go back. Note: This is a cash only restaurant (ATM machine conveniently inside). Would love to try the sausage gravy and biscuits that everybody raves about. Breakfast is served all day! read more

I absolutely love coming here and getting home cooked food!! I love the beef stroganoff & Meatloaf. My daughter and I went in there last weekend and tried the cabbage rolls and lasagna and they were equally as good! Truly a hidden gem of American Diners. I've been curious about this place since I drive past it all the time. The outside is unassuming but inside is one of the quirkiest restaurants I've been to. It's decorated in Christmas decorations year round. It's festive and adorable. The staff are amazing and so friendly. The food is fabulous, well priced for budget dinners and you get a lot of food for your money. The two that aren't recommended seem to be fine, objective reviews. Hmmm. Regardless I've been going to this unassuming place for a while now. They make all of their stuff from scratch and have excellent breakfasts! Prices are super reasonable and the food is great. It's like having your Mom or Grandmother cook for you. This little place is a south side gem. It's a family-run place just up from Dan's Drive In, both a diner and a music venue. Look for the yellow awing on the east side of the street. If you like bluegrass ("Americana" to you younger folks), they have live bands on the weekends, 6-9pm. There are lots of autographed pictures on the walls, and I recognized a few groups/singers from my childhood. The owner, Lois, was super-friendly and talked to us about the bands, music, etc. and invited us to stop in on a Saturday session. Otherwise, the decor is "hillbilly Christmas," and if you don't love it, we might have to fight about it. Flashing Christmas lights, lots of fun decorations, over the top in the best, most kitschy way. Oh, and guitars, banjos, mandolins on the walls. Really cool. This is also a classic diner. That is to say, basic food like your granny would have done - tomato soup, grilled cheese, maybe an open-faced roast beef sandwich. There are daily specials, and plenty of choice on the menu. I had their sub, with soup, and the spouse had an open-faced roast beef. If you like your sub warm but your bread crispy, this is the place to get it! Plenty of meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and peppers, with the right amount of Italian dressing to keep the bun dry. It's the little things! The roast beef was good, with the classic white bread, real mashed potatoes and the brown canned gravy - a flavor profile we all know and love. I'm kind of excited to find a place like this in town, with music and an atmosphere that feels like a little slice of country. read more

The owner is super nice to my mom so I really can't give this place a bad rating. The food is a ok, but it's a little hole in the wall so the food is comparable to that type of atmosphere. They have bands on the weekends that I would like to attend in the future to see what it's like. read more

Such a lovely experience overall!! The Christmas decor, along with the wonderful and sweet women running the joint, make the place feel like you're coming home for the holidays.
