We came to Lodgepole Grill with a group of 35 and a 7:30 pm reservation. Apparently the group before us decided to settle in for the winter, so we waited about 20 minutes before being seated.
Because we were such a big group, they had us pre-order. I chose the ribeye and had been mentally eating that steak all day. I could smell it cooking in the parking lot when we arrived. Sadly, somewhere along the way, however, my ribeye experienced a communication crisis and became a steak salad. Ughhh.
I ended up switching to the salmon, which turned out to be fantastic. So while I'm still emotionally processing the loss of my ribeye, the salmon did an admirable job filling the void.
The old west vibe is great, and the service was friendly, but our group definitely seemed to push the operation past its comfortable limit. Food came out at different times, things felt chaotic, and the staff looked like they were trying to herd 35 hungry cats.
I'd absolutely come back. I'd just bring about 33 fewer people next time. read more
