I called out Juan, from Locksmith on Wheels, to re-key three of the locks in my home. Two of the locks are newer; and as a result Juan had those locks completed within a few minutes. However, the other lock is extremely "old school"; and therefore it required an significant amount of time and effort to get that lock re-keyed. Not only that, but since that lock was very old, some of the internal mechanisms were damaged. For several reasons, we did not want to completely replace the lock (and the surrounding latch), so Juan spent a long time trying to get the existing parts working properly. It turned out that the mechanism in question was too badly damaged to be used, so Juan was able to find a replacement mechanism for the lock, and install that - and he did not even charge me any additional fees for all of his efforts! We decided to go all out and buy a Mul T Lock deadbolt. We gave him a deposit to order the deadbolt with extra keys and he contacted us when the deadbolt was delivered and set up a time for the installation. There were some quirks with my door which Sam H., our locksmith was able to determine and adjust the installation. The lock was installed properly and the door strike was re-enforced with long screws to make the overall deadbolt more secure. Despite confirming the price over the phone, he demanded more money upon arrival. Although they advertise free estimates, the technician showed up late and dismantled my deadbolt to check if it could be rekeyed. He then refused to reassemble it and threatened not to leave my property unless I paid a service fee. He finally left after I threatened to call the police, but he left my deadbolt in pieces.
