UPDATE: Locksmith on Wheels initially reached out but they won't replace the handle even though i can find a number of them that are all under $50 online. If they are a locksmith company I would think it would be easier for them to order a handle that would fit my door in the correct color of beige and to come back and install it. They offered me a refund of $260 but they haven't moved forward with the refund or fixing my issues. I spent $720 with them for an ugly handle that does not match and I still feel like they gouged me and moved on. If Locksmith on Wheels wants to make this right why haven't they? read more

Very bad and rough experience. I fell for some of the previous good reviews. I spoke to them and got the estimate for 90-120$. They kept calling me, which impressed me. Work was 15 min or less. First, I was given the time for 12-1pm but technician said will be there at 1:40-2. Waited, waited, and he came around 5pm. On top of it, technician was so rude. After the work, I was given a bill for 240$. To my defense, I had it in writing for 90-120$. I had to bring the dispatcher for settlement. Suggestion: Please take the estimate in writing and show the quote to technician before they start the work. Never use the company in my opinion. read more

Just bought a house and was having trouble with key copies I made elsewhere. I got a call back within 15 minutes and within an hour a bright young man named Nick is there to make things right. Turns out all the locks were kind of old and wonky so we decided to replace all five external locks. Within two hours, he had gone to pick up that needed inventory, changed everything out and even fixed a problem we had with a double door that we hadn't talked about on the initial visit. I felt my work is simple as it is bathroom door lockout and it will be $90. He completed job in 15mins. After the job is done he charged me $150 saying service fees and all. Hired a locksmith to replace the front door lock for my mother. A simple change of the deadbolt and key. The locksmith came and should have recognized immediately that the locks he had with him were not compatible with the existing latch. Rather than tell us he needed a different lock to complete the job he wasted almost 4 hours trying to create a makeshift solution. I was then coerce into zelle-ing him money to get him to leave my home. Very unprofessional. Locksmiths are supposed to make you feel secure with their service and this did quite the opposite. The next day I was able to replace the deadbolt myself in under 10 minutes after purchasing $35 compatible lock from Home Depot. Huge waste of time and money! I will never recommend this place as it seems they do not verify the locksmiths they dispatch out to their jobs. Now that I know what a correct set up looks like, any reasonable locksmith would have known immediately that those pieces weren't compatible. In the photo you can see a hole that looks like a square with one rounded side. The compatible piece matches that shape exactly. The locksmith however spent hours putting rectangular and smaller pieces into the latching mechanism that would fail to turn the deadbolt. There were several issues, including excessive charges, dishonesty, and the technician pressuring for tips, intimidation tactics. The technician also ignored phone calls. If you choose to use this service, don't pay anything until the work is complete. Be clear on the job details upfront, document everything, and record conversations or video when possible. Technician stole my key and pretended to forget that the key was ever made, charging me extra to make a replacement key. As a business they are okay and pick up calls, but they rely on independent contractor technicians and seems to have little control over their actions. These contractors have a lot of autonomy in how they handle customer requests. The business struggled to get the technician to return my calls despite repeated attempts, stating they only act as a middleman, even though they are the ones who get paid. The latch on my front door broke. After unscrewing my door handle, both screws snapped in half. I was able to unscrew one on my own. But the other one was stuck. And I tried with my Dad on video call, but the thing was stuck. I reached out to another locksmith in the Tri Valley who was highly rated (5 stars) but one day after another and I still couldn't get a time which he could come. I didn't want to wait anymore as the long weekend was approaching. So I called Locksmith on Wheels and Ruben picked up right away. I explained the situation to him, he quoted me $65 service call, $65 labor, and any parts, if needed. He said he try his best. I honestly thought I needed a new lock. But it turns out I didn't. It was just $35 for the part. OTD $165! I left an (optional) tip too. He made my day as I didn't have to wait around all day for the other company to get back to me. Ruben came out as promised witin 40 minutes. In under an hour, my front door was working again! He takes cash and credit card. Easy peasy and he was on his way.... Was in need of a locksmith asap as we were setting up for a wedding. We had rented luxury portable bathrooms and the key to lock the bathrooms broke. One bathroom was locked and we needed it open and one had half the key inside the lock. I called and they sent someone out to our location quick! The guy was having a hard time opening it but was determined to get it open and he did! He was a great help! I didn't get his name but he came to the rescue and saved the day! unfortunately we were able to get the key out the lock but we were just happy both the bathrooms were open and able to use for our guests the next day. They promptly responded and their technician Clayton indicated that he will be at my address in 20 minutes. After 40 minutes, I called again. They apologized indicating he was stuck in another job and would be here in 20 minutes. After 30 minutes, I called again and he indicated he will be here in 20 minutes and apologized. After 20 min, he still wasn't here and told me he will be there in another 20 min. By then, we were locked outside the house for almost 2 hours. I was super annoyed and asked him not to come. We called another locksmith who showed up in 17 minutes. Very prompt. After Greg was finished, Clayton showed up - 2.5 hours later!! I had suck a bad experience with this company. We had a tech come to our location to replace a lock. We got a quote for $85. We asked the company if there are any additional charges? They said they were running a internet special ... so no other charges? The tech arrives and tells us that he would exchange another lock in our office as that would same us money for a new lock. The tech finishes the work then he asked me to pay an $85 service, $20 parts fee and another $85 work fee. I asked why he was charging us like this? We showed him the quote and he was not bothered to look at it. So we told him to put the lock as it was and we don't need his service. So he did but he put the lock backwards to get back at us. If you want the same exp please use him. They company is very unprofessional, they try and take advantage of customer's. Sam was dispatched to our house to replace three locks, to include the front door, exterior garage door, and interior garage door. I also requested kick plates me installed on the exterior two doors. I walked through each door with Sam and explained the exact work we wanted done. It seemed like we were on the same page, apparently not. The work done the first time around was terrible. Unfortunately I was not home when the work was done so I didn't have a chance to see it until well after Sam had left. I have attached photos of the amateurish job Sam did at our house. We were quoted for $1100 for the job but the work done was worth nothing. I now need our door frame piece re-done and the cracked door where the deadbolt installed probably needs to be replaced. Sam acted as though he was doing us a favor by coming back to fix the terrible work he did the first time around. Our quote was to fortify two exterior doors as well as the new locks. Sam installed what looked like a piece of scrap on the rear side door. The metal piece looked scratched, damaged and battered. It had been colored in with a sharpie pen to conceal the damage. The interior lock didn't even have all of the hardware changed and Sam left a silver piece to go along with all the black pieces we ordered. Who does this type of work? Sam then had the nerve to tell me he should charge me more because now this was more work. Sam started to try and fix the work but removed so much wood from the door frame that he then complained there was a big gap and he didn't know what to do. More work because he didn't do it correctly the first time. I asked Sam to leave and that I would request a different locksmith from the company. Sam cussed at me and stormed off, flipping me off on his way out. I have video of this all as we have exterior cameras with audio recording. I have attempted to contact a Manager or someone in charge all day and have received no calls. I would NEVER use this company. I am going to have to dispute my credit card charges and then try to recoup the cost of the repairs. Really fun. read more

My family and I urgently needed to get into our safe (long story short, the batteries were dead) and Locksmith on Wheels was a godsend. I called the number provided on Yelp and their coordinator informed me that the locksmith that services my area would call me shortly. Once I was on the phone with him he was able to let me know that he could get to me within roughly thirty minutes and was able to provide a quote for his services. I feel so bad because forgot his name (it was a really chaotic day) and it was an affordable and reasonable price. I didn't feel like I was getting taken advantage of at all and he was also very courteous, kind, and understanding. I loved that he was super transparent and even before my family and I agreed to the services, he asked us if we were okay with possibly having to break the safe itself (worst-case scenario). I want to point out that this didn't end up happening at all and our safe was still 100% usable. Locksmith on Wheels accepts Cash and Credit. However, if you choose to pay with credit I believe there is a 3% service fee. For getting into our safe it cost us $150. This was super important to me because another locksmith had quoted my family and me over $300!! Just FYI - this may be different depending on what kind of safe or lock, etc. you need help getting into. He was also able to get into the lock really quick (15-20 minutes). All in all, Yes! Granted, it was a bit of a urgent request, but does not even begin to justify the price. Yes, some of the locks and deadbolts had to be ultimately replaced, but again still not worth the price. The only saving grace was that the technician was friendly, though very slow. I made the mistake of not shopping around due to circumstances that necessitated the same day lock rekey. We had the worst worst possible experience. We called in because we locked ourselves out of the door, the technician said that he would pick the lock and come by. When he arrived, he tried a few different methods, and it wasn't working. He asked if he could break down the door and fix it after and we said absolutely not, we do not want to damage the door because I'm a renter and not an owner. He continued to push the door and broke down the door by brute strength while I was begging him not to break anything and he knocked off the wood on the door and in the door frame. We said constantly that this is not OK and that we did not approve him to break the door. He demanded that we paid and we asked to speak to his manager. He did not help and we called into the manager and they also were not helpful. Eventually they said that the locksmith would leave and we wouldn't have to pay at the moment, and we said absolutely not because they left such damage on the door frame, and the door that would end up costing even more than the original unlocking of the door. He did not pick the lock, he did not listen to what we said, and they have not made it right. They said that we could speak tomorrow morning, but I have very little faith that they will make it right. The only way that they could make it right is if they hire a carpenter to fix the door to go back to its original state at no cost because of the damage they created and frankly the time and stress that this has caused us. I'm very disappointed with the customer service, the lack of expertise, and lack of professionalism and I hope they do what's right. read more

Very responsive. I wrote to the business via Yelp, and within minutes, someone had contacted me. I needed to make an appointment to meet the locksmith the next day at my storage unit to break a padlock for which I had lost the key. The locksmith called me that night to make the appointment, and the next morning we kept in touch so that we arrived there at the same time. The padlock was more complicated than a standard one, so he had to use several inventive techniques to get it off, but it was done in less than a half-hour. It was a bit pricey, but taking into account the need to travel to the site and the extra work involved in removing the lock, not unreasonable. I paid $300.
