I don't have anything to compare my experience to, as I'd never lost a mailbox key before, but Michael made the entire experience painless. He came to my house within an hour of my phone call, and it took about 15 minutes to pick the lock and replace it with a new one, and grind the edges (apparently damaged from a previous attempt at busting open the mailbox). He was friendly and professional, and the whole thing cost $100 (for the particular mailbox I had), and I even got two keys! Wonderful service!! read more

Mike was amazing. Responsive, skilled, knowledgeable, prompt, fair price, and went way above the call of duty. I'd recommend him without hesitation. In short, my bag was stolen with my house and car keys (and mail, so the scumbag thief could have easily figured out where me, my wife and baby live). Mike came over at 9:30pm on a Friday night and replaced our door locks, and even installed a break lock on our car. Seriously awesome customer service. read more

Referred to Michael by another locksmith for emergency help getting back in to my apartment. He was Fast, arrived on time, and actually checked my id and verified that I lived in the place he opened. read more

Thank you, thank you!!! Great service...and wonderful follow-through. I highly recommend this place for price. Its a real local merchant - not one of those out of state companies with local phone numbers which are fly-by-night. Thank you, again!!! read more

We have been looking to find a reliable locksmith that can install electric door strike for our building for a while. Not many locksmiths out there provides service to install electric strike from scratch! Then we found Mike and Kelly. I talked to Mike over the phone and he asked me to send a couple of pictures of the current door setup. After reviewing the pictures, he provided recommendations and a verbal quote. Mike and Kelly arrived at the scheduled time (6pm - they work so hard and efficiently) and did their magic. They left us with a secured door and a happy face. Thanks Locksmith Central! read more

Michael is very knowledgeable and is great at guaranteeing his work. Customer service is outstanding and I will use Locksmith Central fire all of my key and lock needs read more

Friendly, efficient and willing to come out in the evening which is a huge help on a busy schedule. The only mild gripe I have is that they didn't give me a call-out charge quote up front (and also my bad for not asking for one). read more

Wonderful work at a fair price! We have used Michael twice in our building - to rebuild a defective Kwikset lock, and to replace our mailbox lock when we lost the keys. Both times, he was prompt, efficient and very friendly. Highly recommended! read more

We had Mike install MX secure keys for our house. We then had him come in to add a few other locks to the same system. It was smooth and easy, but what makes this a 5-star review is that while he was working on one of the doors, one that had been messed up and not closing well for years, he just fixed it by adjusting the hinges without asking or charging! I can't tell you how happy this made us! read more

Great work, but there seems to be a rotating "out working in the field" thing. So half the times I go, new hours have been taped up to the door. read more

this is my first time on yelp. i don't often write reviews. who has the time? locksmith central is worth the effort though. so, here i am. in the middle of a busy wednesday, i locked my keys in my car. i called a few places and found that mike at locksmith central was the most reasonable and timely. another locksmith wanted to charge me $100 extra b/c it was after 5pm. they arrived in less than 30 minutes. mike was friendly, professional and fast. just what i needed. i highly recommend this company. read more

Michael arrived in 30 minutes exactly as stated, and unlocked my door in about 30 seconds. It is not hard to see that he is a pro. Informed me about all the locksmith scams going on, which is exactly what happened to me a few months ago (guy came to work on identical lock and ended up drilling it out, and it still wouldn't open). Yet another reason why Yelp rules. read more

Michael Young, the owner, is an honest, efficient and professional dude. I couldn't be happier with the work they did... showed up right on time and replaced my old front door dead-bolt as well as my mailbox lock. They finished their work in no time read more

Great job overall. I left my keys in the side door and was sure someone took them with the intent of paying a visit later on. I called Locksmith Central and was quoted a price. Michael arrived within the hour and did a great job. I had to pay a bit more because the locks I did have were not within the fire code. So now I have fire department happy locks and I am not worried about a midnight visit from a moving company. Thanks Michael. . .I will recommend you to everybody. read more

Mike and Peter from Locksmith Central saved the day (even on a Sunday). I was staying at a friend's place and locked the keys inside the unit. The two of them were very thoughtful about approaches to get inside without causing damage to the lock or the door. They even used a special tool that Peter invented that made entry damage-free. Lesson for the day, only lock doors that require keys to lock, that way you can't ever leave without your keys. I'm always so impressed when people are good at their jobs and take joy in doing it. Many thanks to Mike and Peter. read more

Had a key that wasn't working properly (had to find the sweet spot to get the key to turn). Mike in the shop identified the probable issue and cut a new key that worked perfectly! All done in minutes. Excellent shop! read more

Mike is amazing!!!! I was so locked out of my apartment, that I actually had to go to the fire department to ask if they could get me in through my open window on the third floor! They somehow managed to get me in through the actual door (yes, I felt like a complete idiot!), but I called Mike and he came out at 7:30 on a Friday night to fix my lock! Yes, 7:30 pm on a Friday. Did he charge me an outrageous amount of money for an after hours call. NO! Was he completely honest, straight forward, quick and just all around amazing? YES! Please, if you need any help with your locks, call Mike. You will absolutely not be disappointed. I never thought I would give a locksmith 5 stars, but if I could give him more, I would. read more

The key broke off in my bike's U-lock and I needed it removed from a sign post. I called up Locksmith Central and they were there when they said they would be, and cut the lock for me in a couple of minutes. Their rate was 50% less than the other place I called, and the owner was very friendly and professional. Big recommendation for these guys read more

The doorknob came loose on my front door. I called another locksmith first and he said he couldn't come out until the following week because my lock was an old mortise lock and they only have one person who works on them. But he referred me to Locksmith Central. So I gave Locksmith Central a call and described the problem to them. They were very knowledgeable on the phone and told me what the most likely solution would be and gave me a quote. They had no problem coordinating with my schedule and coming out at a convenient time for me. He called when they were about 15 minutes away so I could be ready when they got here. When he arrived, he quickly took the lock apart, replaced the spindle and knob, and had it back together again in no time. The charge was pretty much what he quoted over the phone. He also gave lots of advice on security in general while he was here. I'd recommend giving Locksmith Central a call if you need a locksmith. read more

We had keys cut here. Unfortunately, one of the new keys didn't work in our lock. (It was a copy of a copy, so this may have been the reason.). We took the key back and a fresh copy was cut free of charge, no problem. This time it worked perfectly. read more

My car door lock was becoming a little difficult to unlock. (It's key lock not a wireless fob.) Didn't think too much about it. Suddenly, it wouldn't unlock at all. I called Kevin who runs the great San Francisco Auto Works (the most honest and competent garage you'll ever find), and he referred me to Locksmith Central in Noe Valley. I called them and explained my situation. The guy says, "why don't you buy some Tri-Flow lubricant, spray it in the cylinder, and see what happens. It may take care of it. If not, call me back, and we'll give you a quote to work on the door." It did. $7 for the lube, and about 18 second to do it. Bingo. Like new! Vaguely embarrassing, but you can't know everything in this world. What I do know is savvy experience, honesty, and generosity when I see it. I need to take a dozen great cookies or a six-pack or something over to guys who are as good and honest as SF Auto Works. read more

Michael and his company are a straight rip off company! I called around to get quotes to install locks on a van and was given a price of $170, the assistant called and confirmed the appt for today Saturday and gave an address in San Brunos and again confirmed the price. I get to the address and its a home in a residential area and met John who apparently works out of his garage. 4 hours later I get a call the van is ready and it's $570, WTF!!! I get there and ask John why $570? He said its NOT the first time this happens, customers are given a quote over the phone and then after work is done its a different total. John was unable to give me a break down of the price, he also said he installed the cheapest locks and could break into them in less than 3 seconds. So why am I being charged so much for cheap products??? I called Michael and was very nice and polite because that's the type of person I am. I asked why he and his assistant had quoted me a different price, immediately he raised his voice and said he never said that and he didnt have time for me, he started yelling over my voice and hung up on me. I called back and made it clear I just paid his company $570 and he shouldn't be yelling at customers who pay and want clarification. He yelled again saying he didn't have to take my insults and hung up on me. This Michael guy definitely doesn't know how to treat his customers has no phone etiquette and is a thief! I will be reporting this to the BBB. Never using again and wouldn't recommend to any business. Beware consumers! read more

I never expected to be wowed by a locksmith, but Mike at Locksmith Central made it happen. He provided a wealth of information in a short amount of time in reviewing a place with no fewer than 12 doors/locks. Super friendly, knowledgeable and professional. THANK YOU MIKE! read more

These guys are a class act. Needed to get two worn door locks rekeyed, and Mike gave me an estimate of $20-40 per lock, depending on how much effort was required to get the locks operating smoothly -- one lock was over 40 years old, so I understood the uncertainty. After an hour, I come back to the shop, and he tells me he has good news and bad news. The good news is that he's rekeyed both for $20, but the bad news is that one of the locks doesn't work as smoothly as he (a self-professed lock snob) would like. He said he'd be happy to spend more time (and money) on it, but I should go home and see how I like them. I tried both locks at home, and they worked just like new! Just goes to show how good (and honest) these guys are. Highly recommended. read more

Mike was FAN-TAS-TIC. Great, professional attitude. Very courteous. Punctual. Not a clock watcher. And most importantly, he really knew his craft. He was able to make a key for my car where others had either dismally failed or been afraid to attempt. Use this guy. Would give him read more

The man in the store was unfriendly, not helpful and became abusive and rude when I told him that in the past I had to return because the first dupe they gave me did not work. I relayed this story in a very polite manner, but he forced me out of the store. He obviously has no manners. I strongly recommend not going to this store. read more

Fantastic!! Neither of our front gates would lock(the "buzz-in"kind). Sought out business from Yelp and Michael had great reviews. He came out within an hour, no "emergency charge" and had the problem solved within the hour. It's an old door so he gave me instructions about what to watch for in future. Just as he was leaving, I noticed the hinge at the bottom of the interior door was loose. He promptly got out his drill and replaced all the screws, no extra charge. Polite and thorough. Such a pleasure! read more

Never had such a horrible experience! Arrogant guy named michael wouldn't listen to simple request, said it would take 2 weeks to get a key (then I learned he could have done it immediately), hung up on me twice, sick!! Pulse DO NOT patronize this locksmith!! read more

After moving across the city, I lost the key to my jewelry box... With all my jewelry in it. Was totally bummed because I've owned the jewelry box almost 10 years, and thought that my only option of getting everything out was to break the whole thing. I called the company that sold the box to me, and they no longer carried even a similar model, I brought it to the hardware store and called other locksmiths with no luck. Often, no one was even willing to look into the job at all. That's where central locksmith comes in. I called them, and they said "no problem, we have a lot of antique keys we can try out, or we can just make you a new one!" Amazing! Someone who still stands by their trade. I went in there and had a consultation. After about 5 minutes of examining, the box was open again! Then, this is the most amazing part- they went into their stash of antique keys, and was able to find a match for the jewelry box lock!!! This was the best experience I've ever had with a locksmith. They clearly take pride in their work and are good at what they do. When I was in there, at least 3-4 other repeat customers came through also. Highly recommended their services! Thanks again for saving me! read more

Amazing, lifesaving. I locked myself out, and was panicking that Id be camping on the side walk. Reading the reviews for most locksmiths further freaked me out. Chances it on these guys.
