Not sure what's happened with this place in the last month, but there's definitely been a shift in quality and customer service. My husband and I have been to Lock 27 numerous times before and received excellent service. The last three visits (12/31/15, 1/23/16, 1/28/16-carryout) have been so off-putting that I'm not sure we'll return. During these three visits, the young lady behind the bar with the long black hair and body art couldn't look more annoyed that people were actually sitting at the bar and ordering food and drinks. Trust me, we all have days where we don't want to be at work, but we fake it if necessary until we get to the end of our shift, or at least until we stepped into the kitchen or the walk-in so that we can briefly vent. The service from this woman is less than stellar, as she does all that she can to avoid eye contact or even remotely listen to what you're requesting. In regards to our most recent two visits, we were less than impressed with our food (which was surprising, because the food is usually awesome), and we were also offended by the way that our concerns were met by the staff. We typically order the poutine every time we go to Lock 27 because it's poutine! The 7-10 times that we had ordered in before it would be presented to us with the standard gravy, cheese curds, and braised short rib.When we ordered the poutine on 1/23/16, it was presented to us topped with what only looked like beef roast cut into cubes. When we asked someone if they had run out of short rib, a woman said she wasn't sure and she would go check. She returned with a bald gentleman that I believe works in the kitchen, and his immediate response was "What's the problem?" My husband asked if they had run out of short rib for the poutine, because he knows it doesn't usually come like this. The gentleman was clearly irritated and replied "Well that is the way it comes, it's braised chuck!" Keep in mind, that usually the braised meat for the poutine is fork tender and resembles pulled pork or shredded beef. These cubes of meat could barely be cut with the knife and fork that I was attempting to use. When my husband tried to ask if the recipe had changed, the man just quickly cut him off and said "So do you want me to take it off the bill? What do you want me to do?". We asked him to remove it form the bill and ordered something else. Just last night, I (reluctantly) asked my husband to pick up and order of poutine on the way home. He sent me a text when he was there and said that he had seen some plates of poutine go out so it looked like everything was back to normal with the short rib. When he brought the food home-meat cubes AGAIN. If the recipe has changed from your original, then tell your customers that instead of being rude and insulting and telling them that's the way it comes-especially when the customer has been there numerous times and knows that statement to be a complete lie. And if you do run out of braised short rib that you typically use, remove the item from the menu for the night instead of trying to substitute with something that honestly ruins the dish altogether. read more

Service was great, triple IPA was great, ramen was a shame. Please do not say fresh Tokyo ramen noodles and place daikon radishes, jalapeños, with some weird BBQ pork broth together. Breweries need to know their place in this world is making beer and not being innovative with foods that don't make sense and is cooked incorrectly. The only saving grace of this brewery was the triple IPA. Lesson learned, do not go to Dayton, OH in search of ramen. read more

The service and atmosphere were good but the food was a total disappointment for my family. Ordered the pretzels and dip. Pretzels were lukewarm and the beer cheese was okay. Have definitely had MUCH better at many places and this is an appetizer we order ALL the time. I had the hummus plate for my meal. Again something I love but not this time...way too much garlic and I love garlic. I was given 1 carrot stick, 2 celery stick and an 2 other dipping veggies that honestly not sure what they were but ate them or I would have only had 3 dipping veggies for what was a large bowl of hummus that I never want to eat again. There were several pita chips but they were tasteless. My son got the chicken nuggets special and he disliked the nuggets ALOT. Had no taste & the dipping sauces were not good. The bbq was a mustard with horseradish & the Buffalo tasted just like hot sauce out of the bottle. The parm garlic which is their substitute for ranch had little to no taste. I really did have high hopes that we'd find a new place to eat but this won't be it. I gave 3 stars merely for service and atmosphere. read more

This is our 3rd time going there. I'm a pretty eater at times so at first I was reluctant to try this place as I don't drink craft beer but my boyfriend is an enthusiast. But this is now one of my go to places. I love it to the point I am now the one convincing my boyfriend to go there. Unfortunately it is a smaller place with limited seating. But it is worth the wait, the food has always been excellent. My boyfriend said their burger was the best he's had in a while. I had the Asian pork sliders which were the bomb. I want them again but problem is I want to try the whole menu. The Thai was yummy but in the spicy side which was warned when ordering still happy with it. The Mac and cheese was kind of bland. Pretzels were excellent, as well as the stout brownie with salted Carmel ice cream is my favorite. My boyfriend said the beer is average although last night he found his favorite which was the coffee boy stout is his new go to. But what the beer lacks the food makes up. Was told by the hostess that it was a twenty minute wait but that a table had just paid their check and should be leaving soon. 15 minutes or so later, table opens up. As hostess cleans the table we move toward her but she points to two guys walking behind us that it was their table. Annoying to say the least. Had to wait about 15 more minutes for another table. Waitress took our drink order. Fifteen minutes to get Carafe of water, no glasses. Then one beer came. Several minutes later, my dates drink. All ordered at same time. Food was sub par. I've been to the Lock 27 in Dayton several times and had wonderful service every time. Tonight my daughter and I decided to try Centerville's Lock 27. Needless to say despite having three employees walk past our table roughly seven times in the 10 minutes we sat there, no one asked us if we have been helped. They just looked at us and kept walking. Two waiter/waitress assisted the tables right next to us...looking at us and again no comments or help. Worst service I've encountered in a long time. We have been here 3 times now and it has quickly become one of our favorite places. Located in an unassuming strip mall, the food here is just amazing. I have had something different each time just so that I can try new things on their menu and it has all been delicious. My absolute favorite so far? The bacon bites on the app menu. OH MY. So delish. I have also had the peso Panini, the salmon salad, and the chicken apple Panini. Hubby has had the pork tacos, beer cheese soup, and brisket sandwich and loved them all. Service has always been great and its typically pretty busy. They always have several specials which I love b/c it keeps things fresh. If you have not been here yet, go. It was a delicious salmon filet served over spring mix and drizzled with a lemon vinaigrette. Lock 27 was fantastic. I tried most of their beers and had a pleasant experience with all of them. Nice variety. I would just like to see more of their beers on tap. They were delicious. Now the food really surprised me. We had the pierogi and they were very good. As a polish guy, I was raised on these little things. These were the best that I had in a long time. Potato filled and covered with onions and bacon. We actually scraped the bacon off and ate it as a side dish. They were good without bacon. We also tried the pulled pork tacos. There was a lot of flavor and they really hit the spot. The black beans that were hidden under the tacos were the best thing of the day. The wife and I actually ended up fighting over them. She won...she always wins. If you have not tried this place, give them a try. The servers have good knowledge of both the food and the drinks. They also have wine and cocktails here. Called and complained and all they did was offer to bring us a gift card. Who in their right mind would go back. They should have had Doordash run us out a replacement at their expense. Was recently there with some friends. We live in area of the country that are considered foodie cities. This place is very good. If you are looking for unique beer, this is the place for you. The brewmaster tries a lot of different ingredients to create some good stuff. The food there is not like your typical bar or brewery. It is higher end with great flavors, but not high end prices.
