This pho place is amazing! I would have given it 5 stars but their phone lines are always busy to call and pick up a order and they were slow. Despite the togo service the the chicken pho has a very good authentic taste, the flavor is fresh and not salty like some other pho places. I can't say enough good things about this place. The food is amazing, and the prices are pretty reasonable. We had the pho tai which was really really good, the bowl was huge and I couldn't even finish it. All three of us split a grilled pork Banh Mi and an order of the fried egg rolls. The sandwich was so buttery and amazing the bread was slightly crisp and so soft inside, and the pork was the most amazing part of the whole thing. The egg rolls were great that was our sons favorite he downed them first thing. Super crunchy and amazing. I love the simple decor, the vibe was super chill. It's family owned and run which is pretty awesome because they were all super friendly. We picked to eat outside and the view of downtown was pretty great with the sun setting. My son never likes to stay in his seat which is why we opted to eat outside and he loved eating his pho on the stairs and just having his solo time. I also treated myself to a Thai tea with tapioca which was spot on! Love the place definitely coming back! read more

I saw the pictures and was very excited to get what looked to be delicious pho. I went at lunch time, and got the pho with chicken. The broth didn't have that much flavor and the chicken didn't taste very fresh. Maybe it was an "off" day. Hoping the next time I go it will be better. Just visited Local Pho the other day and enjoyed it. I ordered the vegetable Pho, and at first was a little annoyed at the lack of veggies in there, but the broth ended up being so good I overlooked that part. I ate my entire bowl which is not something I normally can do with Pho. The broth was light--not to salty tasting. The only thing that could make this place better is if they added more mushrooms or had different veggie options to add to the vegetable Pho like some of the other Vietnamese restaurants offer. I don't eat tofu, so like having some more substance to help me not feel like I'm just eating broth. My boyfriend had the round eye Pho and egg rolls and he really liked his. There's substantial parking and plenty of seats inside...location is nice! We will definitely be regulars. read more

Honestly, the lack of customers already gave me the first impression of how their food would turn out. The place was cute with a hip ambiance however the food was not up to par. I ordered the grilled pork Bánh Mì sandwich, the Thai tea, and their eggrolls. For a $6.50 sandwich, $3.50 drink, and $3.00 eggrolls, it was not worth the price. Stepping up to the registrar, you can see your food prepped in front of you. The Bánh Mì was reheated, not prepared fresh - meat was re-served and was very bland; the bread felt like it's very expired bread. It was a very bland sandwich - grilled pork BM's are my favorite but this one does not seem to make it to flavor town. The Thai tea was a disappointment. The color was very off - a deep red orange - and you can visibly see the powdered mixture settle at the bottom. Imagine sipping in soil. I asked them to make me another one yet the second one still was unfiltered. I know how to make Thai tea - you need to strain it. It did not taste like Thai tea, lacked milk and the sweet, well-known flavor. Very bland like the Bánh Mì. The eggrolls were okay (again - BLAND), at least they did not completely mess that up the dipping sauce because otherwise, they would have disgraced Vietnamese cuisine. read more

Just average or slightly above. Not bad but not great. Had their vermiculite bowls and spring rolls. Items were good, but nothing special. Portions are a bit smaller than other pho restaurants. Also it's a walk up and order type place. Not a sit down and receive service. Their check out system is the kind that I have a pet peeve about. You walk up and order and then they swing the screen around and ask for a tip. Maybe I am weird, but tipping is for when you receive service. Not have an order take at a walk up counter. So I doubt I'll be back. Better pho places for same or less money around the area. read more

I just wanted to check this place out on the way back home from a vacation. I was so craving for pho. This place is new and very clean. I like the decoration. There were not many customers when my husband and I came. The guy who took our order was very nice. We ordered a few things: spring rolls, egg rolls, pho and togo banh mi. Spring rolls were good. They were premade and wrapped on tray at the cash register. Egg rolls came in paper bag with fish sauce. That was it. I wish they had some lettuce and pickled carrots in there so I could use them as a wrap. The banh mi was good. They messed up my husband's order, but they figured out and remade it. We just waited a little longer. The main reason I was there was pho. Well, it tasted just okay to me at first. Then I started to feel thirsty and burned in my throat. That's my normal reaction to MSG. This's so disappointing. I wanted to give this place 5 stars because everything else other than pho was good enough. Love the modern industrial structure of the restaurant! It's very, very clean and I love their concept of the open kitchen - you can see everything that's going on. Whether you're pho veteran or just looking to try a new cuisine, this place has GREAT pho. As soon as I received my bowl, it was like an aromatic bomb! Reminded me of eating my grandma's pho when I was younger. Some days, it can be slightly oily but that's forgivable; the flavor is what I'm after. Also, I love their idea of having the pho condiments (bean sprouts, basil, jalapeños,etc) as an open bar. I could grab as much or as little vegetables as I see fit. At first, I was skeptical about having the vegetables out in the open like that but they keep the area and condiments very clean and very fresh! Kudos! My husband and I really enjoyed our lunch here. I had the tendon pho (with extra tendon!) and he had the combination. Very flavorful and yummy! As a tendon lover I really thought the quality of the tendon was delectable. We also had a shrimp spring roll and a pork spring roll to start. Having anxiously waited for a new Vietnamese place around the Washington corridor, I was somewhat disappointed with Local Pho. The place is conveniently located, beautifully laid out and decorated and has plentiful parking. Staff was friendly and helpful. Prices are a little on the high side for what it is...basically a no frills, serve-your-self establishment with middle of the road food. The first time we went we had the Bahn mi, the chicken and the pork. The bread was good, but the filling left much to be desired. Meat was scanty, as were the vegetables, none of which were pickled. There were sprouts, jalapeños and basil on the side bar, however, but it didn't help the bread to meat ratio. In addition, you had to pay extra for add- ons such as butter or Pate. Overall a very dry sandwich. We also ordered the fried egg rolls which were mediocre and were over fried. On the second trip, I tried the chicken pho. The broth was good and hot. The chicken was tasty. Overall, satisfying. I know this is billed as a pho shop, but hot soup in Houston on a 100 degree summer day probably won't be my choice. Maybe they could expand the menu enough to include at least a few bun choices and work on those Bahn mi so they are more palatable and worth the price. If you are going to have such a limited menu, every thing on it should be stellar. Meanwhile I guess I'll keep going to mid-town, White Oak or Bellaire unless I am hard up for time and just want pho. I am bumping this place to an overall 3/5 rating because of the decor, parking and location. read more

Great Vietnamese food in a fun atmosphere, the combination Pho is fantastic and comes with beef tendon (thank God!). The sandwiches are on point and they have a small craft beer selection. The only reason it doesn't have 5 stars is because it's a little bit more expensive than most places that serve similar dishes. This might be because they're catering to a heights Montrose crowd or because they use better ingredients. I can't really tell. Still a great place. Very clean too, which I like. read more
