Oh my goodness. This little restaurant was so cute. My friends and I enjoyed this restaurant so much especially since it was to celebrate me graduating from college! The seating in my opinion was just a tad bit tight, but it was doable. I started off with a drink, of course. It was the Pomegranate Old Fashioned, and it was definitely old fashioned. The pomegranate flavor mixed in with the whiskey was good, and the right amount of whisky was added. I only needed one of these. Haha! I had the pork chop entree, and it was so delicious. Brussel sprouts are a favorite of mine, and the crispy was just right. I thought the patatas bravas (potatoes) wouldn't go well with the whole dish, but it was pretty great. I loved the flavors of the chipotle peach bourbon glaze on the pork chop. Whew! It was so yummy! Honestly, everything was such a good mix, it was so delicious, and I would get it again! My friends had the pasta and the shrimp tacos, and they raved about how good their entrees were too! Last but not least, the service was very nice!!! Our server, Sydney, was also a delightful waitress! She was so nice and sweet. She gave suggestions to the menu, and our waters were filled at all times. I will definitely be coming back! My husband and I had a wonderful date at the Local on North last Friday night! We usually head to Halcyon, Avalon or downtown Alpharetta, but I was looking for a change and decided on the Local because of the Yelp reviews. They did not disappoint! We arrived with perfect timing around 8:30 and an outside table became available quickly. We started with a cocktail...I had a Lemon Martini and my husband had a Bourbon based drink. After reading all the reviews about their Onion Soup; I decided to have a bowl of the Onion Soup and Mussels. My husband ordered the Ahi Tuna. The soup was absolutely amazing and after trying mine my husband tried to order his own, but they had run out. My Mussels were perfectly prepared and a good plump size (not tiny and shriveled up which I find I get more than often). My husband loved his Tuna and we were both impressed by the serving size for $25. Everything was so delicious; we had to try dessert and that night their bread pudding was chocolate and cinnamon. My husband isn't a big dessert person so it's rare for us to compete while sharing a dessert, but we did here. Service was very attentive. It was a perfect date night! read more

This is a very small restaurant. The sign just inside the door said to wait to be seated. When we arrived, there was a large party taking up the two longest tables against all the windows. There was also a table of 4 people eating their meals. Of the remaining 5 tables, 4 of them had a "reserved" sign on them, and all 5 were empty. The hostess approached us, but then looked worriedly into the room. She then said she could seat us, but only if we promised to be gone by 7 PM. Needless to say, that was very off-putting, as nowhere did it say, "seating by reservation only". (She could have even told us, "Sorry, but we are reservations-only tonight," but she didn't. She also didn't ask us to sit at the bar, which she could have since there were 5 available seats.) As it was only 5:15 PM, we said we thought we could be gone by 7 PM. The hostess walked toward the tables and made a sweeping motion with her arm. As we were not sure where she was motioning for us to sit, we sat at the table that was sized for 2 people. However, this table also said "reserved". It was very strange. Our waitress rushed over and asked us what drinks we wanted besides water, before we'd even had a chance to read the menu. We said we needed a minute to look. When she came back, I ordered a Jungle Bird cocktail, which I don't recommend (too much Campari and not enough Demerara syrup). My husband ordered a half sweet, half unsweetened tea. Before our drinks were delivered, we were asked if we wanted an appetizer, which we did not. Our server didn't bother to suggest anything, presumably because they were trying to rush us out of there by 7 PM? My husband ordered the Steak Frites, and I ordered the Chicken Française. My husband asked if he could have a bit more sweet tea in his drink, and our waitress apologized by blaming another coworker for not making the tea sweet enough. She refilled his glass and brought sweeteners to the table. She also offered to get me another cocktail, but I declined. Our food was good, but at that price point, not great. My husband had to ask for a refill on his tea, once we were able to get our waitress's attention. Our waitress had no other tables to wait on, as she didn't appear to be helping with the large dinner party and the other table of 4 people had left. (Someone who appeared to be a manager had to bus this table, which I thought was strange.) Again since the restaurant is so small, you can see that when waitstaff aren't waiting on tables, they are at the bar watching TV, checking their phones, and/or socializing with the bartender. When I finished my plate, our waitress stopped by to ask if we'd like dessert. I asked if I could see a dessert menu, since my husband was still eating his meal. She immediately told me that I didn't need to see a menu because she could just tell me the desserts. She rattled off a bunch of choices, and I chose the brownie. Again, we felt rushed even though it wasn't even 6 PM at that point, and literally no one else had come in to sit at all the other "reserved" tables. We arrived with an early reservation. We were seated in the corner with our two granddaughters and son and daughter in law. Service was slow. Ordered bruschetta and meatballs for appetizers. The bruschetta was tasty. The veal meatballs were terrible. We ordered our entrees which were salad with salmon ( salad greens were huge and not cut and salmon was not seasoned), mushroom swiss burger (was overcooked and $18 and nothing special), paella with piece of fish on top of rice and mussels, shrimp (that were not rock shrimp) and very disappointed, salmon sandwich (fair) and burger with no garnish and fries! I've seen this place on Yelp and various local advertising for a while now, and I'm glad we tried it out. The food is fresh, the environment is nice and our server was very kind. The best parts of our meal were the Brussels sprouts and the onion soup, truly delicious! The other items were also tasty, including the salmon sandwich, grouper tacos, and wing appetizer. Had a delicious brunch here. We split the Omelette and the Breakfast Burger, both served with fries. I didn't care too much for the Omelette, it was pretty standard, but the Burger was amazing. I love breakfast burgers, or basically any burger with an egg on it, and this one did not disappoint. I would definitely order it again. The fries were great and seasoned. came to downtown duluth for lunch and checked this little place out! we came on a saturday, parking was hectic so please keep that in mind... interior was nice and service was great! we got greeted once we walked in the doors i got the shrimp diavolo, a spicy tomato penne pasta that was so good! the dish was so flavorful and dipping that bread in the sauce was delicious the bruschetta was INSANE!!! i don't know what type of sauce other than balsamic they use in their recipe but it's mouth watering! the bread was crunchy on outside and warm and soft on the inside.i think this is the best bruschetta i've had (other than my moms house of course) i definitely recommend this starter! Local ingredients with good taste. We sat on their outside patio for Sunday brunch. They have daily brunch and food specials based on their sourced ingredients. Southern Caesar with grilled salmon: My salmon was cooked perfectly. The lettuce was crisp and the dressing was delicious. Steak entree and subbed the fries for asparagus: My friend loved it. It was cooked and seasoned well. Shrimp tacos: big tacos with tons of shrimp. The pinto beans were ok, but the tacos were delicious. The cheese and sauce went really well together. They have a nice wine list as well. Our server had nice suggestions and service was good. They have their own pizza oven. I might try their truffle pizza next time. read more

Add another great eating option to the Revitalized Downtown Duluth scene! This restaurant sits in Parson's Alley closer to the back parking lot near Dreamland and behind Good Word Brewing. We dropped in here originally bc Nacho Daddy was packed out, but then stayed bc they had kid's pizza (my son was in a pizza mood). Apparently there are a few Local on North locations, with the original one being in Canton on North Street. They have the feel of modern with their long high top tables, cushioned long-row bench seating, bar and the fixtures surrounding the place, along with the see through kitchen bay window. Menu had a mixture of lunch options for most diners. I was stuck on getting either the blackened mahi sandwich, ahi tuna burger or shrimp tacos (trying to go pescatarian). I opted for shrimp tacos. They also had bang bang shrimp as an appetizer. The beer options on draft weren't extensive, with mostly IPA's, so that's a ding for them there. I had the scattered sun weissbier which wasn't too bad, and then the Abita Pilsner (which I didn't like). My meal was really good. I loved the chipotle crema, and that really did it for the taco as a whole. The shrimp was semi sweet too. The charro beans also had a great flavor to them! I was kinda envious of my dads ahi tuna burger and wished I had gone that route. My son devoured his 10 inch pizza and didn't leave one bite for his dad. The waitress did a great job of taking care of us. Overall, it was a good stop. My only complaint here was the cost of my sons pizza and coke was $10, and the lunch prices are certainly steep. I paid $54 (with tip included) for two beers, tacos and his pizza. This for me won't be a stop for a family lunch in the future, but certainly a place you'd take a date. read more

Such a cute restaurant! My friend and I met at Local on North for a mid day lunch break. The area was pretty packed for a week day with hardly any parking but there's open street parking not too far away. I ordered the Hello Gorgeous drink. It was so refreshing and had rosé as the base. For my meal I ordered the French onion soup to start and the Sweet Thang salad with grilled shrimp. I loved my food! The soup was savory & flavorful with melted cheese. The salad was also really good I loved the blue cheese and lemon vinaigrette that went along with it. My friend liked her food as well (the hot fried chicken sandwich) I'll probably try that next time I visit or even stop by for brunch since that menu looks pretty good as well! read more

I'm surprised at the reviews here. I guess I had my expectations super high. Local on North actually has other locations in Roswell and Marietta. They are a family owned and operated restaurant and serve American fare from burgers to chicken to fish options to pizza. They serve a Sunday brunch, lunch and dinner. We came here on a night with nice weather, so we opted for the patio, and we could bring our dog which was extra nice. The waitress was super friendly, and she did a great job. The actual food was the part that was a miss for me. I ordered the grouper tacos with the caesar salad, my boyfriend got the chicken entree, and my daughter got the fries, grilled quesadilla, and a side of strawberries. They weren't kidding about the side. I am sure it was the equivalent of two whole strawberries cut up for $2. The fries were apparently good, because my daughter tore them up. The grilled quesadilla was so-so and I'm sure it was American cheese in there. The caesar was okay, pretty typical caesar and the romaine was crisp. My boyfriend's chicken francaise wasn't any good. I just didn't care for the sauce and the mashed potatoes were very bland. My boyfriend thought it was "okay". My tacos were decent. They were saved by the spicy mayo sauce. My boyfriend asked for honey mustard, and we were both charged for the side of sauce. The waitress also brought out 3 slices of some french type bread, which didn't look appealing at all. I really like the ambiance here, and love that you can bring your dog. But the food itself was a miss for me. Lovely restaurant in downtown Duluth. Service was excellent our waiter was very nice and attentive. We order the bruschetta for an appetizer and definitely recommend. I had their seafood pasta special and it was delicious. My husband had the mushroom burger and it was a hit. For drinks we had the twister Paloma and marvelous blueberry, both drinks were great. Overall the food quality and service make it worth the higher price point, highly recommend dining here. We never begin a review without thanking our friends at Yelp for providing a platform for the Voice of the Customer. This week's feature is Local on North located in Duluth, Georgia. Local on North popped up in my Instagram algorithm so I decided to give it a try. It was located in an outdoor area in downtown Duluth that had lots of other restaurants, open air seating and accommodations for families and pets. LON menu offered everything from great appetizers to a main course of several options. The service was excellent and our server was very friendly and professional. His recommendations were spot on. I really enjoyed my meal and will add LON to my list of recommended places to try not only because of the food and service but also the variety of restaurants and things to do around the area. I would be remiss if I didn't mention parking.... While I found a parking spot after a loop around the venue, I can foresee a challenge during the summer months when everyone is out. We tried this place on a Saturday with a reservation. We arrived early and planned to sit at the bar and have a drink before we sat but they had a table ready so we were seated immediately. Service was a bit slow but it was a full dining room. Wine selection wasn't great and they served wine in cheap glasses, they must get broken a lot. Food was ok, my wife enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, I had a Caesar salad, it was very large. The entrees were not great, cold sides and it took a very, very long time to get our food. I would guess somewhere around 30 minutes. Their KDS is visible from the whole restaurant so you can see how many checks they have going, which by our entree time weren't many, maybe 6. The expo didn't change his gloves between expoing, greeting guests, going on the patio and walking behind the bar, which I don't really care but don't bother wearing them if you're never going to change them. The atmosphere is very loud and crowded so for a date night it isn't ideal. We ordered dessert, it was tasty and got delivered quickly. All in all it was a below par visit for $150 dinner. Found this place in parsons alley. Industrial vibe, very cool. Opened since january. Saturday night was pretty crowded but got a table without a reservation. Started with the mussels and fried goat cheese apps. Nice beer list. The mussels were tender and in this delectable sauce. Tried to get the recipe snd trying to figure it out with my palette. Both apps were delicious. Must admit the portions are small. Ordered the special NY strip special and the seared tuna. The steak was tough, but the blue cheese risotto was good. The beef lacked flavor and seasonings. Tuna was good itself but the potatoes and asparagus made no sense as the garnish. Sauce was very salty. Was parched after dinner. We had the special dessert blueberry poppy seed bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. We very good. This really should be a 3.5. The main-course was lack luster. The ambiance is so cute and quaint. It's not a huge space, but they have utilized it well. We sat at one of the taller bar top tables. Every appetizer we got was great, especially the bang bang shrimp! But honestly the shrimp came in second to the goat cheese croquette. The salads we had were amazing too!!The parking is fairly open so it wasn't an issue at all. It is also in a cute little shopping area that you can walk around in and there are a few other shops. It's located in the downtown Duluth area so it's cute. I will def be coming back to try more of the menu! read more

Just had their burger for the first time...wow! Probably me new favorite. It was their Bleu burger and the flavors were amazing. It had the bite from the cheese but a sweetness from their sauce...wow! Great meal again. Had the tuna special, the sides were actually better than the tuna. The tuna was good, just not as good as their food usually is. My son had a salad (my little vegetarian) and he loved it. Again disappointed at the upcharges, this time .65 for a side of ranch! Still on of my favorite restaurants in the area. -- It was disappointing to swap the salad (which was excellent but small) and the upcharge was $3, pushing the $17 burger to $20...kind of a stretch, I don't even pay that much in the city. The food was incredible. Top notch. The atmosphere is really nice. All of that i My wife just scolded me that this should be 5 stars, and it would be except...protein is really needed for their salads to be a meal and they cost nearly as much as the salad, so I deducted one star. I wish I could give 4 1/2 and we will definitely come back. I love this spot, but I can't give it 5 as the special I just had wasn't special. Was here 2 days ago with a friend for some indoor dining because we were both sick of eating what we cook at home. We stumbled onto this place, to our surprised was open for sit down dining. Yay! First, in light of Covid19, the restaurant had very few seating. Each table was at least 8ft apart.... Very good! The servers were careful when taking orders... Very good again. Tables were clean.... Very good. And lastly, staff was seen constantly wiping down counters etc. Kudos to them for their hardwork. We ordered a 12" Forgedabouit pizza, it came relatively fast. It was the best I've had, granted I've not had a proper restaurant pizza in a long time, no thanks to Covid19. But seriously this pizza is really good, the crust was thin, it was crispy, it was light and ingredients - generous.... Did i whet your appetite yet? You have to go to this place. Today always my 1st time at Local On North. It was a large group of women occupying the largest table.The server was very courteous, kind and attentive. The other members of the staff helped with delivery of the food and in other ways to make sure no one was neglected. Our food was really good. I ordered an additional Smoked Salmon Eggs Benny and brought it home to my son and he loved it. So about 17 women left there satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere. Really disappointed with our experience! We went on a Sunday evening. Not crowded; however, everything took forever to arrive. Our drinks took a solid 25 minutes to arrive. Our appetizer took forever. We ordered the goat cheese croquette, and it was this small croquette on a large plate with pretty sauce all around it for presentation. Pretty but certainly not substantial. My friend ordered the snapper, which was overcooked and tough. No apologies from our server on any of the delays.
