When it comes to choosing a restaurant to eat in, I don't take much stock in what is printed here on Yelp, as people clearly don't have any idea what they are talking about and are just looking to complain about whatever they can. However, I really enjoyed my visit to this restaurant on my last trip through Keene for work, and thought I would post something positive about my visit. I arrived at Local after the major lunch rush, so the staff had some time to talk to me. I asked a ton of questions since I had seen the reviews on here before going in. The staff was extremely friendly and answered all of my questions courteously. The restaurant receives all fresh ground beef...NONE of it is frozen. In fact, they have very little freezer space and they didn't even have a microwave. The fries are all fresh hand cut on site and the veggies burgers are handmade daily. The restaurant is owned by a very nice family, who have another Local in a town in Western Mass. Anyway, what about my meal you ask? I enjoyed a Westhampton Burger, served pink with all the fixings, and some sweet potato fries. The Westhampton is a favorite of theirs and I can see why! The burger was juicy and flavorful, and I am very critical of my burgers as they have to be of the highest quality for me to enjoy them. The fries were such a treat because you could tell by looking at them that they had been in the form of a whole potato not that long before I ate them, as opposed to all of the frozen sweet potato fries you get at most places. In fact, the staff member told me that they have to actually hand cut these with a knife each day because they are too hard to fit in the crank slicer that they have. One of the best things about the fries was the maple mayo that went along with it. I have had similar condiments at other restaurants, and it just was not as pleasing as the maple mayo here. I was incredibly stuffed when I was finished, but took some fried pickles to go to share with people once I got back to work. I love pickles so I had t try them, and I am glad that I did...delicious! I loved the cornmeal batter as opposed to a beer batter because it added texture. I did ask if beer batter is available, and a staff member said that they use it for their onion rings and could easily do it as a special order. All in all, I had an incredibly pleasant experience at Local...what is everyone so cranky about?? read more

Best burger i have ever had! Had the Westhampton burger, cheddar bacon ranch bbq with a choice of lettuce tomato pickles and onions included Great milkshake, we also had the beer battered onion rings huge portion and you can tell they were homemade. nice clean atmosphere had the feeling of a cool burger joint. We will be back! Just have to respond to letsbereal. Not one thing you said was accurate. The only $10 burger is a 12oz burger with extra cheese, bacon and a lot of sautéed veggies. Their regular burgers start in the $5 range. They use a lot of local meats and products including soda from Walpole, nh. They use quality ingredients And everthing is fresh and homemade. Local is nothing like five guys at all. This is the 2nd location for local burger and I know their 1st locAtion had won many awArds for best burger including one from USAToday . So yes I am a big fan and have gotten to know the family that owns the business and runs the business. by the way if you know how to open a restaurant for $5000 please let me know read more

I enjoyed my trip to Local for lunch and I have been back several times, when I am in Keene. I love the fact that everything is fresh and that the frying is all done in peanut or olive oil. The potatoes are from a local farm, and they are hand cut right for your order. I love the creativity of the chefs, as they try out new flavors. I had the chicken wrap, and even the croutons, were made freshly tossed and made in the restaurant. Having visited several times, I never get tired of the new specials. The coffee milk shakes are the best! I always get the fried pickles, fries, and have had the chicken tenders, and several of the burgers. Now that they sell beer and wine, it makes it more than a lunch spot. They also have local hard cider. I can see that there are some bad reviews, but I think it deserves another chance by those people. I have always liked my food there, and have taken many friends. I recommend Local when people ask for a good place to have lunch. read more

Wow what a refreshing place since the old and i mean old armadillos. This place is nice, clean and a great addition to Keene. Its a fun and cool atmosphere. The burger is by far the best in the area and well worth the money. Its a juicy 6oz burger with great flavor and is grilled over flames not flat grill. All of the toppings were fresh and you can tell they put some real thought into everything they do. Had the westhampton that had bacon and cheese along with sweet potatoe fries. I think people who complain about price are used to fast food burgers that dont have much real beef content. they dont know what real food is. You do get what you pay for and when it comes to food I want quality! All I know is that I left satisfied and I will be back. read more

After reading the other reviews I was actually pretty surprised! I've been to Local Burger probably 3 times since it opened. They have at least 3 vegetarian options that I can recall (portobello burger, vegetarian & Northampton Vegetarian) Every time I have been there it has been good. The burgers can be a little bit pricey, but you get what you pay for - Their burgers are all local & organic and they are huge! It's hard for me to finish 1 by myself. Other than that, I've only had their fries, which are hand-cut and were really good! I would probably go back. read more

i really cant believe all the negative press and when i look at the filtered ads they are all good but unfiltered all bad-confused! local is family run by 3 brothers and their dad. the are hard working and a very nice family. when you meet them you will see how great they are. the food at local is all hand cut-nothing is frozen- we talked to joe the owner on thursday lunch. the grass fed beef is from easthampton,ma and the potatoes are from south hadely .ma i was with a few people and we all had a great time and great food try if for yourself read more

I travel in this area a lot for work, and have never had a bad meal at the Northampton location. So I decided to try Keene on a recent trip. I can't figure out what you people are talking about. The food was great, and my burger was perfect. The people in Keene must be of a higher social status, or have discrimating taste buds. How can you compare this to Five Guys or the place that was there before? Now that was a real mess !! I don't know, must just be a New England thing. I've found if your not from here you're never realy accepted. read more

I enjoy the food there, the atmosphere is clean and casual. The Burgers are the best I've had, the same quality as the original restaurant in Northam[ton, Mass. The fries and sweet potato fries are the best. even the veggie burgers are great. Give it a try, those bad reviews must be somebody who can't be pleased, no matter what. There are many folks like that. I love the place, and I think it takes alot more that 5000.00 to open a restaurant, and alot of hard work.. Try it, I'm sure you'll and the family will love it. Best burger, veggie burger and fries I have ever had! The Westampton burger with bacon, cheddar, bbq and ranch was delicious and cooked to perfection. Veggie burger had all fresh veggies in it, so good. Fries were amazing, cooked in peanut oil so so good. We had an order of onion rings, too many to finish. They were beer battered and served with a spicy dipping sauce, delicious! Great atmosphere, friendly service and out of this world food. I Think we found our new hot spot in town. We will be back often read more

I've never been a fan of Local. I just don't feel like the quality equals the price. Went there a few times when it first opened, trying the various burgers. But now it seems like the only time I'll ever go is around 1am when the bars close (on the rare occasion my wife and I actually went out for the night). They're definitely creative though, and deserve to be tried. Just not for me! read more

Local is new and every time I go its very good. Grass fed beef -hand cut fries-vanilla milkshake can't go wrong It new and they trying-I will be back went yesterday and the owner joe was there-he was great. i think the bad reviews on here are just other business trying to hurt others the shake use real ice cream, the fries are handcut -cooked in peanut oil go see for yourself read more

Wow people are harsh -we love local since they opened. Keene is a hard town to please and the economy stinks. I'm glad people are still opening small restaurants. We went the other day and it was fine . My grass fed was pink -the ff were hot and all was good. I will be back -it was slow ,but, everyone I saw was happy. read more

The food is definitely expensive for burgers and fries. However, it is very tasty. If you have the money, Local Burger is a great option! Keep in mind that since the food is made fresh, it may take a while for a large group to all get their food. read more

food is great but they clearly dont pay their crew enough. i have seen one crew member multiple times, riffling through dumpsters for food and he resides in the woods, pay them more! read more

Good burgers- the place is pretty neat although I find it to be a bit on the loud side but that's good if you're in the right mood.
