I was visiting Keene, NH for the first time with a friend who grew up in the area, and when it came time to pause our adventures through the town for lunch, my friend's top recommendation for a quick and super filling lunch was the Local Burger! In addition to food, I was also seeking an authentic local experience, and with a name like "Local Burger" how could I go wrong? It was a wonderfully sunny day outside, and the dining area was bright, colorful and vibrant. Many of the tables had fun diner/bar stool seating that was reminiscent of burger joints of the past with the enjoyable amenity of being able to spin a little in your seat while chatting over the meal. I enjoyed the humorous burger-themed art on the walls and the retro-decor of the establishment. It was a quieter weekday afternoon, and service was very quick, friendly, and professional. Of course I couldn't turn down the opportunity to try the "Local Burger, Local Burger's Signature Burger" and I paired it with their grass fed beef offering (for a slight additional charge), a side of fries, and a fudge brownie milkshake! When the food arrived the burger was piled high and was balanced delightfully in the center of a paper lined basket again on brand with the retro aesthetic. All of the food was very tasty! I left feeling exceptionally stuffed and satisfied. In addition to the delicious food, I appreciated that there were a variety of options for burger construction (ranging from the tasty Grass Fed Beef that I tried to Turkey and Veggie burgers) and that most all of the ingredients were sourced from local farmers, suppliers, or vendors - and that made the meal feel authentically "local". From what I'd gathered, the business has been operational for over a decade now, which is pretty cool street cred to have too. Very disappointed. This has been a staple in Keene for years, unfortunately it doesn't seem like it's been kept up during that time. The food was ok, but pricey ($50 for 2 kids and 1 adult to each get a burger or chicken nuggets, share a small fries, and get a fountain drink or milkshake) the atmosphere is just...lacking. Long wait for food, but it is cooked fresh, so you should expect that. The floor looks like it's never been cleaned (I'm sure it has, but the dirt is so ground in that it's just forever stained. Cobwebs on the windows (and it wasn't Halloween) Ceiling tiles are all water stained with some bowing in. Tables are bus yourself, but remain uncleaned as there's no one to wipe them down. Some of this I can forgive, but this seems consistent with some older reviews which means that they just don't care. Sloppy housekeeping in the dining area makes me question the cleanliness elsewhere. read more

Fast and the very definition of a greasy burger joint. It is exactly what it says it is with fresh burgers and fries made to order. Staff was very friendly. My only complaint is that there was too much of everything. Too much bbq sauce and coleslaw on the barnyard. Too much buffalo sauce on the buffalo fries, etc. but that's not a horrible thing. Suggest if you go to ask them to put all the ingredients on the side - so the bun doesn't get soggy. But overall, just what you'd expect! read more

Came here based on Yelp reviews. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich on the recommendation of the server taking our order, my husband had the burger. We also tried the fries. We sat outside which was great, love to people watch;-) the chicken the sandwich was huge! The batter was the perfect amount, fries and crispy to perfection, the chicken was moist. The roll was soft and tasty I should have noted what it was, because it wasn't your run of the mill roll. It had lettuce , tomato and pickle and the onion, dill, dressing on it was yummy! My husbands burger was "the local" the double patty was juicy, and tasted great, a bit messy, get lots of napkins! Fries were crispy, salted well and a healthy portion. Came in on a rainy Saturday afternoon to a completely empty dining area. It took just under 20 minutes to get a medium/well cooked cheeseburger and an order of fries. That is a galling wait time. We came to Keene for a week long vacation from Las Vegas, NV. Our first night in town we were starving & decided to get burgers from Local Burger. The gentleman behind the counter was super busy delivering food to tables & making drinks but acknowledged me twice while I waited patiently to place my order. The wait was worth it, the burgers were absolutely delicious! Cooked to perfection, juicy and oh so flavorful! The maple mayo on the farmhouse turkey is my new favorite condiment. The hand cut fries with seasoning were perfectly crispy without being too crunchy. We decided to sit outside in the warm evening breeze and it was perfect. Stopped in for lunch with family passing through Keene. Place was full with one gal working register and waitressing. She did a great job especially how busy they were. Order taken promptly and food was delivered fast and hot. Burgers were cooked medium as ordered. Buffalo chicken wrap was fresh and tasty. Nice touch warming the wrap. This place has been my go-to lunch place, so very disappointed in its decline. Restaurants have been raising prices which is somewhat understandable but when accompanied by a reduction in quality that leaves me looking elsewhere. At LB I loved their Captain Crunch hot dog, Buffalo Chicken Wrap, and Buffalo Chicken Tenders...all have both higher prices as well as declining quality. I was looking for grass fed hamburgers and found Local Burger. Wanting to really taste the beef, I played it basic and got the burger with cheese and lettuce and tomato. Got some fries too. The burger was one of the best I have ever had. Hands down. Tasty, hot, juicy. Just right. The fries were crisp and hot. This place looks like a basic spot and overdelivered on the food. There are other unique items on the menu I will be trying on return trips - especially the Cap'n Crunch chicken tenders. Sounds great. They also have a nice selection of local beers. This place gave me food poisoning. Here's what happened. A few years back, I was on a small ski trip done by a school I used to attend. Before we had gone to the actual resort, we stopped by here for lunch. I had just gotten a regular cheeseburger, as I didn't have intentions to spend too much. It looked a bit raw to me, but I was fourteen at the time and didn't know much about cooking burgers, so I assumed it was medium rare. After we ate, we went to the resort, did some skiing, and relaxed in the lobby right after. All seemed good until I came down from the pub area having to go to the bathroom due to sudden stomach pain and found the group I was with gathered around the bathroom. One of the guys who ate there was having the worst food poisoning, and shortly after, so was I. None of us had eaten anything after we came here, so it wasn't difficult to narrow down what caused it. Wanted to love this place the burger I had was good and the onion rings were great. We had three people in front of us when we ordered after ordering and waiting about a 20 minute for onion rings they were bringing out food for people that ordered after us. We said something to the hostess and she brought us out some. Almost 20 minutes later we asked about our burgers and they brought them out with the soggiest fries I've had and two cold burgers. We brought them to the counter and were given an attitude and asked if they were even ours. They finally agreed to remake them and did try to give us more onion rings which we turned away as to being full. For only about 10 people and wanting something good but quick it took over an hour. The girl up front on the register was friendly enough but the cooks in the back were coughing and snorting a lot which was a bit unappetizing especially these days. My burger was average. I recently visited local Burger on a fall trip to Keene, NH. We walked along the main street looking for lunch, and settled on local burger which also has a location in North Hampton, MA. We ordered their signature burger and the Cap'n Crunch wings, which I was somewhat skeptical about. I was glad I took a risk and ordered them, because they were the highlight of our meal. The signature burger had to beef patties cheese - simply the works! The Cap'n Crunch wings were are kind of hard to describe, but I'll do my best. They were extremely crunchy and had a really nice kind of spice flavor I wouldn't say they were hot necessarily, I just all-around enjoyable wing. We decided to pair them with a honey type of barbecue that was heavy on the honey! I would definitely come back and order the wings again and maybe try some of the other Burgers on their menu which sounded amazing. We were in the mood for a burger so the Local really was great to stumble upon while walking around downtown Keene. You have to go to the counter to order and that was a bit slow since the counter woman was also doubling as the waitress and delivering orders. On a busy Saturday they might want to consider getting her some help! Menu is good. Lots of burger choices with great sides. We went with the poutine (yum but very lacking in cheese curds for some weird reason), farmer's burger (turkey and way over grilled to the point where I didn't finish it) and a very unique burger that had peanut butter and jelly and srichacha sauce. My dining partner absolutely loved it and I think ate it in less than five minutes so if you're looking for a unique taste that's the burger to try. They have beer on tap so we tried the Farmer's ale. Pretty good. We decided to try the chicken tenders covered in captain crunch and got it to go. Tasty but nothing special. It didn't taste like it was covered in anything different. I also tried the maple mayo but that wasn't very good. Strange taste and very overpowering. Stopped in yesterday mid-afternoon looking for a quick lunch. I got the Barnyard burger, and it may have been the best burger I've ever had. The bbq pork was sweet, the tomato, lettuce and pickle were cold and crisp, the onion rings are amazing - it was just a phenomenal combination of temperature, texture and flavor. Menu says it had coleslaw on it - not sure, but if it did, it was good. Was kinda hard to see exactly what was on it, was a little bit of a mess, but man, it was GOOD. My buddy got the Westhampton and he said it was amazing too. We got a basket of onion rings and fries - outstanding. It's a bit like a 5 Guys with a local focus. I love the grass-fed beef. Overall, it's a decent burger and I will add a star for their responsible sourcing. The burgers are too lean and too small (or too big*) for me, and the buns are served cold--they really should be toasted. The customer service is excellent and very pleasant. *The 6-oz patty size is too small and two of them are too much. 8oz patties would be better, plus they'd be able to serve my burger medium rare as ordered. read more

I stopped in at Local Burger in Downtown Keene for lunch recently. This fast casual restaurant serves up a variety of traditional and specialty burgers (using local sources), as well as wraps, fries, chili, and Captain Crunch chicken tenders. They offer Pepsi fountain drinks and beer on tap. I ordered a Turkey Burger ($5.99) with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles & mayo and a Large Order of Sweet Potato Fries ($4.89). The food is cooked to order and it may take awhile for the food to be ready. The cashier was also the same person bringing out food orders to dine-in customers. In my case, my order was all set in about 13 minutes. The Turkey Burger was quite good, which had a thick juicy & moist chargrilled ground turkey patty, topped with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, 2 dill pickle chips, raw onions, and mayonnaise as ordered on a soft thick bun. The sweet potato fries were fresh cut and fried, but were soggy and oily and not crispy on the outside as I would expect.
