Long story short. Went there on a Wednesday "family style" night. Minimum 4 people who must all order the same one of 3 dishes (only two were available when we went, both pasta variations). $11.95 each which includes the main course served in a single platter and likewise for a salad. The pasta was 2-1/2 stars, the salad maybe 3-1/2 but what disappointed all of us and created the overall 2 star rating were the portion sizes. If I call them stingy, I'm being kind. When I think family style, I think large portions and possibly (depending on the restaurant), refills. This was absolutely the opposite. One medium size portion of the pasta each, and one small, barely adequate portion of salad for each. The service was good. I asked the waitress if they offered refills and she said no. I called the next day to speak to the owners, left a message, but they never called back. We had been there a few times before on a regular night, and found the food generally OK, not spectacular, but fairly expensive for what you got. read more

My family and I had a just about perfect dinner here during a visit to the Hudson Valley. The food was delicious and had some unexpected flavors, without being pretentious. Likewise the service was both professional and down-to-earth. I was initially disappointed that they don't have a full bar, but we all found our soju-based cocktails delicious and well-suited to a summer night. I then had the butter lettuce with blue cheese dressing: a perfect rendition of a classic. But the real stand-out of the night was the risotto, with leeks, house-made sausage, and Hudson red cheese. We used local111 to cater our Spring wedding. Josephine and her team were rock start amazing with every aspect from the food to the service and attention to detail. It was really fun to be able to work directly with Josephine and she was more than happy to collaborate with us to create a fun menu that was seasonal, had some of our favorite foods, and stayed within our budget. She was really creative and the food tastings were probably my favorite moments of planning our wedding. Her food is awesome and if you plan an event with her all your guests will be talking about it. Flavorful but subtle and clean, her flavors are really on point. She even researched a sauce that we had mentioned, and went above and beyond to re-create it for our chicken entrée. I have been to Local 111 a few times in the past few months and it is always an enjoyable experience. I have not had one thing that I did not like. If you want farm to table food, you must go to Local 111. They work with farms nearby to get fresh, organic produce and meat. They switch the menu up a lot, so there is always something new. But they keep certain, popular items. I've tried almost everything on the menu. You must order their seasonal greens, scallops, and arugula salad. The burger, chicken sandwich, and pastas are so incredibly fresh. It's hard to choose a favorite food when everything taste so good. Unfortunately, the portions aren't very large, so it's best to order several items. It's not cheap, but I'd rather spend a little more money to support local farmers. It's also comforting knowing the produce wasn't sprayed with loads of pesticides and the animals were raised humanely. They do a great brunch. Their bacon is so thick and crispy and practically grease-free. The poached eggs, quiche, and frittata are delicious. The service is always spot on, and the servers are very sweet and knowledgeable. Chef Josephine holds sway here. More than ever, she is letting the farm fresh food speak for itself. Prior to Josephine, I thought that too much bacon, too much cheese, too much cream was not possible. Things seem fresher now and that freshness is more honored than cloaked. My wife and I ordered very simply, a salad with farm fresh oak leaf lettuce, with fresh cherries and apricots atop it, and a light dressing that made the whole thing dance. And the steak. It was grass fed, and that means not as tender as grain fed, but far more flavorful. Perfectly cooked and get this, a squash gastrique on top. What the hell is a gastrique? Evidently, something that just makes a steak pop, a delightful sweet, sour, accompaniment. My companion ordered three vegetable sides and thought them wonderful. There's almost always a homemade ice cream, date molasses, this time, and well, you'll just have to try it yourself. And the espresso is second to none, and yes I have traveled in Italy. The servers are as skilled as they are lovely, and that is saying a lot. They always have a lot to do, but hey this is not supposed to be fast food. Don't ask me why my husband and I waited so long to return to LOCAL 111. Probably because the previous time we were there was so utterly perfect that we were afraid we would only be disappointed. That was not the case at all; our meal was fabulous! The soju fizz cocktail and a glass of Malbec set the stage for a relaxing birthday meal. The server replenished the bread basket of whole wheat current bread and rustic peasant bread several times. The bread was so good we didn't even need the farm-fresh butter (but we ate it anyway). We shared a kale salad with perfectly ripe colorful cherry tomatoes, the freshest snap peas that must have been picked from a garden 5 minutes before we arrived, and candied nuts in a tangy vinaigrette. My appetizer portion of garden vegetable risotto was more than adequate for a meal. My husband had the barbequed brisket over corn bread. You didn't even need a knife to cut it. We shared a chocolate mint ice-cream dessert topped with marshmallow and chocolate cookie crumbs. The dessert in a jar was a creative touch to an already creative meal. Just like our previous visit, the background music was just the right volume, the a/c was comfortable, the server was helpful and friendly and the food was superlative. Just terrific! We came across Local 111 totally randomly - in the Bershires for the day and on our way home, I searched for restaurants in the closest upcoming town as we were driving along the Taconic. It turned out to be Philmont & I saw the good reviews for Local 111. Wow! What a great surprise. Surpassed expectations on all fronts. All members of the staff were nice and helpful. The food was amazing - easily rivaling anything we've had in NYC. Inventive and delicious. We were blown away and are looking for an excuse to go back to the area - I think the food is excuse enough. read more

This place has all the right ingredients : clean architecture, good wine list, excellent service, local food, and deliciously prepared cooking. I highly recommend it. A drawback however is that its menu is meat-centric with no vegan options. It would be great if the restaurant were to add a veggie burger and a vegetarian plate. read more

My friend and i have been having breakfast at 111 for a couple of years now. We always sit at the same table . If we don't show up for some reason, they actually become concerned. We have turned into family with these people and i must say i love that. The food is always great . If there is a problem and if you mention it to them, they fix it. I have had several dinners there with my wife for Valentines day and its always top notch. Service is great and i enjoy the atmosphere. It's a little strange knowing the oil in my car was always changed here. If your looking for a good place to eat and to meet with your family . I highly recommend Local 111 read more

I cannot imagine what all the fuss is about. My husband and I had dinner here about 18 months, ago when we first moved to Columbia County. Our appetizer, a plate of various bruschetta, was mostly thick pieces of bread w/ a smidgeon of toppings. Our main courses and dessert were not memorable and the portions not generous. We went back this past week-end b/c we were invited for a birthday brunch. Once again, the food was pedestrian. I ordered poached eggs w/ toast and home fries: what I received I could have gotten at any roadside diner, except better prepared: the bread was nothing out of the ordinary and the eggs were overcooked and cold. My husband ordered waffles w/ preserved fruit and whipped cream. His waffles were also over-done, not sufficiently hot and not so great; the preserved fruit was nothing special -probably straight out of a can- and neither was the whipped cream. I give this restaurant credit for it's friendly and professional service, but the food: Meh. The atmosphere is nothing special, either, and the seating uncomfortable. read more

We came last night for the first time, and loved it. I feel I should give it a 4 1/2 or almost 5 but want it to get even better! We had a hard time finding it but they were so helpful guiding us. The architecture is terrific=--a former gasoline station with modern edginess, nice porch outside, and glass garage doors that open up to the porch. Our waiter was a terrifici young man, answered questions nicely. The prices are reasonable and portions nice, not too big. We shared the fresh red snapper atop beet puree and a potato salad with tiny string beans and capeberries--who would imagine big capers. The drink was good, water and glass of ice replenished as we requested. The only so-so was the boring bread, not warm or interesting, needs fixing for this level of foodie place and to rate our five stars. We didn't order dessert because we were full and nothing seemed terrific except the beignets which we'll have next time. We definitely would go back for dinner with friends and brunch and lunch. We're huge fans now, especially if closer, better than most places in the surrounding area for sure. And the bar is fun, too, if you want to just pop in for a start to a weekend.
