Finally a wonderful dining establishment for the small town community of Athens . We started off with bread and the dip of the evening was an olive tapenade . This was such a nice change from butter and I hear that the dips change every so often. We ordered a second helping of bread and my hubby was using his fork to scrape up every last bit of the olive dip. We fell in love . We shared a house salad . It does come big enough to be able to do that . Our entrees were crab cakes and filet mignon Au Poivre . Both entrees were delicious . Because of our over indulgence with the bread we could not do any deserts but they sounded pretty good especially being "homemade" . The service from the time we were greeted to leaving was outstanding . I recommend making a reservation , especially if you are just 2 people . They are the best seats in my opinion . read more

Can't say enough about how great this restaurant is. Everyone's food was amazing and the service was as well. Betty is a fabulous bar tender and even from our table we could see how much the people at the bar enjoyed her drinks and conversation. Betty makes old school drinks, heavy wine pours and none of that measuing pours from a shot glass. We all loved our dishes, the eggplant parm , salmon, steak and crab cakes. The lobster bisque was amazing. Can't forget the delicious bread and flavored oil that started off the meal so we knew great food was coming next. Obviously I can't say enough about this restaurant and its friendly warm family atmosphere. Don't miss it if you are anywhere in the area. read more

This is a great restaurant with a chef (Salah) who specializes in delicious with everything he makes. The service is warm, friendly and professional and always customer friendly. Love the crab cakes, salmon and chicken, but you cannot go wrong with anything you order. Great vibe, also. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I have Celiac disease and made it VERY clear to the server that I had Celiac and could not have gluten. I wanted to order the salmon and asked that she double check with the kitchen that it was gluten free. She did and they said it was. When the dish came it had a side, I was unsure what it was so I double checked that it was gluten free and she said yes. A few minutes later, she came back and said she was sorry, but the side was couscous and it was not gluten free. I had already eaten several bites which meant I would soon be very, very sick. As someone with Celiac, I always make it clear that I have Celiac and I 100% understand if a restaurant feels they cannot accommodate me (or any allergies for that matter). I always say that I am normally pretty aware of gluten containing ingredients, but sometimes things are hidden (soy sauce, malt vinegar, a sauce that uses flour to thicken) but in the event I order something with gluten, I ask that the server let me know. Despite this, I understand mistakes happen. However, what outraged me was when the owner/manager came up to me and said, "Didn't you read the menu? Didn't you see the side was couscous?" I have worked in the service industry for 30 years. Rule #1, you don't accuse or berate the customer in these situations. You simply apologize and ask if there is anything you can do. Instead, this woman literally blamed me for not paying enough attention to the fact that the side was couscous. Honestly, I hadn't even seen that. So, okay, I'll take some responsibility, but I eat out weekly, and have for years, and when I explain I have Celiac and ask that the server share that with the kitchen, I DO depend on the kitchen staff to understand what that means and avoid putting anything with gluten on the dish. But even so, for her to actually not be apologetic, but rather accusatory, was shocking. The server was sweet and apologetic. She was young and I could see she felt badly, but again, she clearly wasn't trained to deal with people who cannot have gluten. The salmon was amazing, and I was so sorry I had to stop eating it. It was delicious (but I knew anything I ate would come up later so I stopped). Again, I 100% understand it is not easy to deal with people's dietary restrictions and allergies as a restaurant owner/manager. I know people like me are a pain. And I know it seems to be even more prevalent that people have allergies and restrictions and even particular tastes. But to treat a customer in this way, one who was quite calm and kind, is not acceptable. I will never go back. What's more, my children have Celiac too and if this would have been one of them and she acted like that, well, I would not have remained as calm as I did. I know this review is very particular, and I never usually write reviews, but I am pretty incensed. read more

Came in tonight for a early Mothers Days dinner. Great atmosphere. Music was very pleasant, we enjoyed conversation being able to hear one another which was very enjoyable. The waitress was ever so kind to us. The owner checked in on us as well as the chef with wonderful smiles that made us feel very special. The food was absolutely delicious. Love this place, we will be back. There is a moroccan/egyptian flair to the food that makes it all just delicious. Our daughter lives in NYC and she met us for an easy weekend getaway in the Hudson Valley. We ordered the stuffed clams, very very good, they are like a meal. Once again, the combination of Salah & Denise nailed it. By far my favorite place to eat. They never disappoint. The setting is very comfortable and the food is outrageously good. This place is by far my favorite restaurant. We ate the same night as a recent reviewer that was quite negative in her review. However I watched the whole thing and that's not how things went down. Clearly heard the conversation in which she was asked, quite politely, if the patron read the menu describing the meal. No ill will there. And the patrons lingered for well over an hour so no "vomiting" happening there. If you are gonna blast a place at least tell the truth. We had an incredible meal, as always. Ditto to another review on here. The food was excellent and the staff was friendly but the service was painfully slow. We didnt receive our meals until the two hour mark of being seated. At an hour and a half we had to ask multiple staff members to try and find out where our fold was. read more

Hi. We just finished our meal at Seconds. Great atmosphere. The staff is wonderful, especially Alexa who served us. A party of four, we had scallops, crab cakes and chicken schnitzel. Each entree was excellent. Well prepared and presented. Tasted great. Cocktails were well done too. Great addition to Athens. Gave seconds a second chance. The first time I came here with a party of six around dinner time on their second week, we waited and timed 30 minutes after being sat and couldn't get anyone's attention and left to go to Stewart House across the street. It was odd to not even be noticed leaving. Came here a week ago again for a date and had a fun time! Service was a little slow but within reason, for us at least as a table of two, server was friendly but seemed a little busy or overwhelmed with other tables. The food was excellent and good portions, just great! The lighting was unflattering and some color could help the vibe. I would try again soon to see if they find their groove, good luck! read more
