When searching for dinner spots in Woodstock, Nirvana surprisingly never registered on my radar, but it was recommended to us by some bartenders at another local establishment. I quickly made reservations for the following evening and looked forward to trying it. When we arrived that night, we were in awe of how modern and beautiful the space was. They had 3 separate dining rooms and a small bar. The decor utilized a lot of dark colors, which, when paired with the dim lighting, made for a seductive vibe. Our server, Vee, was a complete sweetheart! He was super friendly and diligent on making sure we knew his top recommendations across the menu. We started by ordering cocktails, and I opted for something with gin, Indian spices, and passion fruit. It was tart, sweet, and boozy, and I loved it! We also decided to share the "Mini Masala Dosa" as a starter, and I put the name in quotes, as it was a bit misleading...in a good way! First of all, there was not a single dosa, but two dosaS. Secondly, they were huge! The South Indian crispy crepe was stuffed with spiced potatoes and curry leaves; the stuffing was packed with flavor, making the dish very addicting. The wraps were served with a coconut chutney and a sambar dipping sauce, though we were not fans of either. I ordered the Sea Bass Tandoori for my entree, and I had mixed feelings about it. The fish was cooked perfectly, leaving it delicate and tender. However, its hefty rub of mint, cilantro, peppers, garlic, and ginger was a bit too intense for my liking. I did, however, like that the meal came with some grilled vegetables, as well as basmati rice with peas for the table. While I ate my bass, my companion dined on the Lamb Vindaloo, which was an interesting rendition, as the sauce was more tangy and cinnamon-laced than we were used to. It was very good, just different. We also each ordered a Garlic Naan, which was excellent! It had the perfect amount of fluffiness and lots of fresh garlic. While we did not love every single aspect of our Nirvana experience, it was largely great, and we would definitely return.

AMAZING! We were looking for a last minute place to have dinner for my friends birthday and we definitely found a hidden Gem Service was TOP notch Food was flavorful and amazing And the ambiance was very trendy and popping, gorgeous for a date night or as we did, celebrating a birthday!

    Delicious Indian food

First time at nirvanas let alone eating Indian and I got to say I had an incredible experience. I am not one for spices so I got everything non spicy. I would definitely recommend getting this experience in Woodstock.

Some of the greatest Indian food I have eaten in a restaurant. Their balance of flavors with technique is superb, I liked this better than their sister restaurant Cinnamon in Rhinebeck. Although both places are great, something about Nirvana feels very laid back, and homestyle. It Makes every meal feel like a family meal. Unfortunately the food is so good I didn't even take great photos, but let me add how delicious and amazing Nirvana is. Don't read GO EAT THERE.

Ridiculously high priced attempt at Indian fusion. Entrees are over-thought and under-executed.

My server True, was very nice and she took very good care of me. When you sit down, they give you their regular menu, but then, they also bring a chalkboard of their specials, right to your table. I decided to go with the pasta marinara with the Un-meatballs. To drink, I ordered a ginger ale. That "ginger ale" was a full on ginger beer. It definitely had the ginger "kick" to it, it was very, very good. My food comes, and it is a huge portion. It came with a nice sized side salad, the lettuce was beautifully, crisp, and I'm not sure what the dressing was, but it was delicious, and it, was dressed just right. Not over, not under. It also came with a garlic bread with a "vegan butter" very well done. The main course, was also very very good. The pasta was perfectly Al dente, and the marinara was very good. It had a rich flavor. The Un-meatballs, I could tell that the texture was a little bit different, but they were 100% delicious. Seasoned oh so very well. If I didn't know, I might have thought they were the "real thing" . The only reason I'm taking away a half a star, was the meatballs were just a little bit cool in the middle. Not enough that they took away from the flavor, but enough that I did notice it. Not worth sending back. Maybe they should double check the meatballs with a thermometer. I took some of my pasta in a to go container, and was about to get my check, but then True asked me if I wanted dessert. The "Apple crumble à la mode" caught my eye. I asked her what they used for the "ice cream" and she said it was a cashew based dessert. Curiosity piqued, I decided to go for it. Wow! A total Home run. The apples were not over sweet, and just had a tiny bit of a " bite" to them. Just right. There was a granola topping, and that "ice cream?" it had a softer consistency, but other than that, it tasted just like the real thing. I would gladly plop down in front of my TV with a giant bowl of that stuff. I jokingly asked True, "are you sure you didn't slip me a scoop of the real stuff?" it was that good... The Price for everything was a bit on the high end, but for the quantity and quality, very reasonable. I will come back. Thank you.

We made a reservation easily on resy and was seated in the back room. Both the back room and dining room have a great ambiance with both more intimate and community tables. Our server was also very attentive as well. If you like goat cheese then the goat cheese stuff naan is not to be missed! So delicious as a side or a starter. They have great wines available as well as cocktails and the English rose was one of my favorite. The Tadka Daal lentil dish was so good, probably my favorite thing we ordered. We also had the chicken chettinad and Rajasthan Murghi, mango chutney, and coconut rice, all of which were great. Some of the chicken was a bit chewy but the flavors were really good. I'd recommend spending a night out here.

It's a specialty of the Andra Region. Boneless chicken dry cooked with Hyderabad sauce, a thick sauce of peanuts, ginger, garlic and red onion. This was so very good that I will definitely be back and have an entree all to myself for dinner. The waiter was attentive without hovering which I appreciate when catching up with a friend. The place is super clean and comfy especially if you get a seat on the padded couch. Since it was my birthday...I got the seat this time.

They told me other people took priority because they made a reservation earlier, not because the reservation time was different. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! They knew we wouldn't have anywhere else to go and TOOK ADVANTAGE. Gotta say though, food was excellent.. drinks as well, which is why I gave 5 stars for food. But the service was so abysmal, it ruined the experience completely. I would have left and gone home, but I was on vacation and staying at a hotel. The man that was managing the front of the restaurant did offer 20% off and gave my kids free mango lassies although he definitely was more annoyed at us than appoligetic. He even accused us of arriving later than when we arrived. (The waitstaff did apologize even though it was not their fault). This was the first time in my life, I have ever left less than a 15% tip in the US. I was originally going to leave nothing, but I felt bad for the waiters that did nothing wrong. The restaurant is just very mismanaged.
