To start you are eating in an un-remodeled fast-food restaurant. That much charm. Windows do not open. The food is OK. It just is not fully flavorful the way you might enjoy at Karavalli in Latham or Taj in Glenmont. And the service is BAD. There were hardly any people but the one man was slow in everything from ordering to water pouring to check. (He overcharged and had to refund). Me driving up to the restaurant: "This SOOO used to be a Wendy's!" Ain't no shame if it works! We came here for lunch and before we even entered the owner rushed out and greeted us and opened the door to let us in. It was a very sweet touch. We ordered a mango lassi, meat thali, and the lamb Balti. I so wanted to love this place but I just felt that all three of my mini dishes that came with my thali lacked the typical spice that I'm used to. And I don't mean "spicy", although that would have been great as well, but I felt like everything needed just a touch more seasoning. The tandoori chicken was great but there was one dish where it tasted like a very light tomato sauce in chicken breast meat and unfortunately it was way too dry. My boyfriend's lamb dish was tastier but even that I felt like it could have had more spices and seasoning. I agree with Andy N. that for the price, I was expecting a little more umph! I've been to this restaurant so many times that the staff recognizes my family and I. The ambiance is great, whether it's busy or quiet. The food is flavorful and doesn't feel like reheated leftovers, but fresher. The meat is cooked well, the curries are spiced. There's a buffet every Friday that is always amazing. Hudson Curry house has amazing food. Wonderful tea. It is my favorite restaurant in Hudson. The staff is always friendly and accommodating.

We enjoyed a very tasty meal at this restaurant. We loved the vegetable samosa and shrimp pakura. The pakura had a little too much dough for our liking, but they were really well spiced and flavorful. The garlic naan was outstanding. For entrees we had lamb korma and butter chicken. Both were excellent, but I was very impressed by the lamb. It may very well be the tenderest lamb I have ever had in an Indian restaurant. It was so good! The staff were very friendly. Terrible customer service...the wait staff lets the plates pile up on your table and the naan always runs out fast. Additionally I witnessed the staff putting 7 people in a tiny booth then asked the gentleman sitting next to the booth to move so they could put a chair at the end of the booth! I got just one word. DISGUSTING. I had the buffet. The bread and rice smelled like the flour was old and the rice unwashed. Curries have no taste. Just floating in cream and oil. And the fried whatevers - i couldn't figure exactly what was inside the thick coasting of re-fried fried flour - but whatever it was I had to spit it out immediately because it was too hard to chew. It felt like they had taken all the stale ingredients and expired condiments and made some hotch potch. And they charge 18$ for this shit!! Can fool someone who's never had Indian food before but if you've had good Indian food, you'll never step into this place again. Sad to see how this place has gone down, as if they have simply given up. The food used to be pleasant if not great, but after the most recent buffet we are unlikely to return. No service at all -- water was not refilled, dirty plates were not cleared, and so forth. The food all tasted a bit odd, and it seems like they are trying to save money on spices because the flavors were really blah, which is hard to do with Indian food. Eggplant must have been cooked in deep fat because there were pools of oil floating on top of it. Square-edged chicken and lamb seemed like they had been cooked solid first, then cut up and simply dropped in the watery sauces. We went on a Friday night, and the server was so kind and helpful - I really can't stress that enough. Our water glasses were never less than half full. He asked if we had been before, and recommended that we have the dinner buffet since it was the same price as most of the entrees, and would be a better value. I have to say I disappointed myself, and filled up before I could try everything. The creamy spinach was bland and boring, but the chicken (all the iterations) were amazing. I apologize for not knowing the names of everything, I'll just have to go back and learn! Shucks! The green sauce....I want a vat of it. To put on everything. We've dined at the Hudson Curry House for years and are always welcomed personally. On a recent Saturday evening, I enjoyed a leisurely family meal. Many reviewers cover the reasonably priced lunch buffet, but for more nuanced amd authentic (less "Americanized") cuisine, I heartily encourage more folks to venture out of downtown Hudson, or, travel a few rural miles from Kinderhook or Chatham to sample individual dishes on the large menu. We especially appreciated the cheese pakuri, veg biryani fragrant with golden raisins & cardomom, perfectly puffed puri, a Korai dish and a mango lassi. When I learned of Hudson Curry House, I hoped that it might be affiliated with Red Hook Curry House, which has a Sunday-and-Tuesday dinner buffet I enjoy. When I arrived, I saw that not only was their menu decorated the same, but I recognized familiar dishes on their lunch buffet. The restaurant is clean and comfortable and brightly lit, an enjoyable dining environment. The lunch buffet, which is $9.99 before tax and tip, only had five items, plus naan, a simple salad, and rice pudding for dessert. Three of the dishes were vegetarian, and two were chicken dishes. Neither chai nor mulligatawny soup are available for the lunch buffet, but there were places and placards for those, meaning they are available for the dinner buffet. The rice pudding was delicious, some of the best I've ever had. I would have enjoyed slightly spicier food and a larger variety on the lunch buffet, but I was definitely satisfied with my meal. I am now jealous of people who live between Red Hook and Hudson (e.g. Clermont, Germantown) - if you like the Curry House buffets, you now have significantly more opportunities for lunch and dinner. read more

We have been passing this place and waiting for it to open to try it as my husband and I both like Indian food. I will have to admit, a little nervous too, I was so worried that it wouldn't be good which would have been ultimate sadness. It is finally open and We just ate there and I'm pleased to report that it is good! Actually good is an understatement, it was actually quite fantastic. My favorite so far in the capital region and Hudson Valley. My husband had the chicken vindaloo and I am happy to say they did not dumb down the spice level. Vindaloo is supposed to be spicy and they did not disappoint. They also were very friendly, very nice people, and I totally hope this place excels in business. If you like Indian food, or even if you don't know if you do or not (actually I will even add even if you think you don't because you have had bad Indian food) do not pass this place up. read more

I'm pretty sure this is Hudson's only Indian restaurant. In a former Wendy's by a strip mall, it makes up for minimal atmosphere with great food. The buffet is offered most days, and highly recommended. The usual array of curries and kormas are available, along with fresh, tasty naan and mango lassi. And quite reasonably priced! read more

I prefer the vegetable one. The samosas came with 3 dressings, 1 green, 1 sweet, and 1 spicy. The green Im assuming is parsley, the sweet Im assuming tamarind, and the spicy one had onions - regardless, all so yummy I even saved some for my rice and curry. Their nan is great too! Fresh and hot. Honestly it was so disconcerting to read the bad reviews about this place, especially throwing low blows at their decor. Ignore the bad reviews and try it!!! Yes it was an old wendys, but its really nice and clean inside, and they serve the curry and sauces in pretty copper ware. Also to add on top of it- I always find myself really digging the music they have on! Its only a matter of time before I visit for my fourth time.
